    It never ceases to amaze me how there’s people that feel that they have the “right” to criticize what another person is doing. We need to be encouraging not discouraging. My mother always said “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”. Your doing a great job & should be very proud of your accomplishments 🎉Stay safe & well❣️

    I call myself ketovore, almost carnivore. There are people who like to criticise the variations that others adopt. But each to his own, if their variation supports their health. At 69 my health is improving and my weight is decreasing so this works for me now.

    People can be horrible sometimes. You are still carnivore if you have coffee, or use herbs and spices. People need to chill a bit... you could call your Pumpkin pie dessert a mock Pumpkin pie or I can't believe it's not Pumpkin pie. 😊 you are doing so well. You are very much loved here. ❤🙏🏻

    Thanksgiving was easy at my house…. I air fried a huge over 1 pound rib eye steak! 🥩
    I ate it with a thin slice of butter melted on top! 🥩Plus a fully loaded ☕bulletproof coffee including egg yolk powder, C-8, butter, collagen, gelatine, stevia and huge dash of cinnamon.
    It was a great day! Great food that I shared with Mariposa, my chihuahua who loved it!

    Anita, you did just great over Thanksgiving!
    Around these holidays for me, I think it is the nostalgia of the traditions surrounding food growing up that comes to mind. It is always mixed with melancholy and memories of those who have passed. I remind myself that it is really more the missing of such loved ones than any desire for food.
    I look forward to your Tuesday Talks. Today I was making your carnivore bread recipe as I listened.
    Sincerely,

      Yes, there are those traditions and they can be big! This was the 1st Thanksgiving without my Mom and Christmas coming up I will feel it even more and there were things she made every single year. I will have to find ways to celebrate her memory, honor her transitions (like her famous deli trays!) and still stay the Ketovore course!

    I am so glad that you got to enjoy the Thanksgiving with your family and not feel deprived that there was no food you could eat. You planned for your meal and you and your daughter got to enjoy a great dessert. A lot of channel owners have been saying lately that people have been coming on the videos and complaining about this or that. I think that even if they don't mean to sound mean (I will give them the doubt), they don't understand that saying something out loud face to face has a lot of different nuances than typing it on a web site. Each one of us is unique, so you have to do what you think is best for your health. I will join you in adopting the ketovore title. Most of the time I am eating meat and drinking water, but sometimes I want some veg and so I treat myself to something like salad or mushrooms. Nothing wrong with that.

    Sorry you have people come in here and criticize anything you do! Why can't those people just let others live their lives? We are all doing the best we can and don't need anyone to police us or jump on every word we say. I am almost 70 and only taking Armour thryroid for Hashimoto's, and seeing antibodies come down. And exactly ketovore or carnivore who cares! Some days I am carnivore and other days more ketovore. I would not be as kind as you are about people making their comments or giving their opinions on what I do! I am so happy you had a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving. Sounds like you ate well! The charteuterie board looked great. Mmmm bacon. I am going to change the usual menu for Thanksgiving this year - turkey breast, creamed onions done with the Keto Chow chicken base, I’ll make regular crescent rolls for the rest of the family, and I’ll make “stuffing” made with the egg white bread, and I’ll make cauliflower mash for myself. I will make a baked potato for hubby too. He doesn’t like sweet potatoes. My family eats SAD. I do not. So this year I am changing it. I will make myself a different pumpkin-based dessert (made with Keto Chow Pumpkin Spice Caramel) and I’ll get the Costco Pumpkin Pie for them. Thanksgiving without the pie is a no-go around here.

I am not able to do the pure keto or the pure carnivore, but I can do pieces of each. Take the pieces of each that do not put my stomach in knots, and you have Ketovore. I like it. I applaude your mixing of the two and the nice word that comes from it. Prime day shopping. Don't forget, you can join for free to get the goodies, and then just cancel the membership. Glad to you had a good Thanksgiving. You be are so right - I believe "decision fatigue" is a real thing. I have my husband do most of the shopping. We have none of that real sugar, flour contriban in the house. My idea now of eating off plan is too many keto. treats. I've come s long way in six years. But it is a balancing act. I still need to enjoy myself and not feel deprived because this is forever. I know what happens if I stop. So thank you for being an inspiration and making this journey easier for all of us.

    Good for you calling yourself ketovore! Perfection is just NOT required! Thanks so much for sharing your recipes and experience. I'm on the Beat Diabetes challenge and in one month of ketovore has allowed me to drop my 3 month A1c from 6.9 to 6.5, so im pretty sure I'll get to below 5.5 by Christmas. All I've changed is no snacks, one definite carnivore day/week, and intermittent fasting being a 6 hour window. I often don't care for food items on the menu, as they try to make it seem like "sweet" items are easy and fun. I'm fine with my keto chocolate mug cake with cream cheese or wgipping cream on top. I'm doing my best to wean my taste buds away from sweet things. One great thing is that one does not like any specific menu, it's OK to have salad and meat. So, I'm finding that's what I'm opting for many days. And, having been on the challenge for 6 weeks now, the 6 hour eating window often shrinks to 2-4 hours very easily. Im staying at my new plateau, weight-wise, but since I'm dealing with 2 other big health issues, I'm chilling out about no shedding extra pounds just now :-)). Thanks, again, Anita, for your great work. Yours in Gratitude

    The omnipresence or ubiquity of all the holiday goodies is very wearying, for sure! I've shifted ketovore from keto and I, too, have improved satiety that makes staying on plan easier. I enjoy that different spices give me different flavor profiles on the same cut of meat. I find that planning dishes I enjoy and are close to the ones we associate with each holiday really helps. Thanksgiving: turkey, green beans, mashed cauliflower, keto (now egg white) rolls/stuffing, keto crust-less pumpkin pie and/or mock apple pie; Christmas: roast beast, broccoli, egg white rolls, deviled eggs, bacon chips, something baked keto that is substantially chocolate with peppermint frosting/whipped cream. More veg than I usually do these days, but who wants to feel like they are missing out on a holiday! Like you said why have any regrets when you can plan and bring stuff to make it happen?

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  Рік тому

I call it paleo-ish because it is not perfect, I do eat certain things that are not considered paleo. If you read different paleo authors, they all do it differently. It takes a minute for families to get on board. I like Ketovore. I am losing again, and feel great. In my 60’s as well. I know that I do better with higher protein. When I watch videos I'm the one that pick and choose what to do for me not what everyone is else is doing. The videos give us all different recipes and info and we as individuals can choose ourselves. There is no reason for anyone to be mean or ugly. I watch because of you and your recipes. Being in your age range and from the United States I will not eat lamb. Again my choice. Keep up the good work.

    "Hey~ whatever" is right! You can be "whatever" kind of carnivore YOU CHOOSE Anita, good grief people are foul sometimes~ & there is zero reason for it, not one speck...errgghh.
    I stand with you, & firmly in the reality that I am a grown woman living my own personal life, not in any way trying to decide for anyone else how they might do so. =)
    Personally, I've been having a rough time getting in enough food, & believe that I may be undereating. Have had zero weight loss since starting this stricter version of low carb, though my husband has lost 60lbs- which is wonderful. Going through menopause at the same time has it's own challenges for sure, yet onward I go~ I have many of the benefits that I would never give up, & know that the scale will move eventually.
    *I am also looking to get a meat slicer, & have been cruising the Prime Early Access Sales all day~ there are a few contenders, now to decide...=)

    I applaud you and your daughter for staying on your plan. Congratulations. I have a hard time passing up mashed potatoes and stuffing. I made the cloud bread stuffing and I did not like it. 😢. My opinion is you can call your pumpkin dessert anything you want. One reason keto gets a bad rap is the keto police. If you feel the need to appease those people why not call it pumpkin pudding pie? Lol. I am allergic to some types of tomatoes but not Roman or heirloom. I don’t know why. And as for the exposure to all the Temptations, try going to Costco! Everywhere you look is a temptation in a sample. The same at Sam’s Club. I gain easy but it doesn’t come of easy. I do Atkins low carb. I love coffee with real cream. I love fish. You are so correct about everyone doing what works for them. I love your low carb recipes. Have a safe trip to visit your son. Thank you for the heads up on the Amazon prime day. I love my vacuum sealer. Thank you for everything you do. BTW: You look amazing. Congratulations on your huge weight loss.

The only pressure I will have is from my hubby to go off plan....and that will be plenty of pressure.

I have been known to sift(with my fork) the pork from pork fried rice. :) Lucky for me he loves pumpkin pie and I dont...so one major problem adverted. It is the stuffing and rolls that are the problem but I will figure a way around the stuffing he wants and an acceptable option. The rolls I can live without.

      Pick out your own comfy spot on the continuum from keto (20-50 personal limit, total carbs or net carbs, clean-dirty-lazy variants, lots more veg with butter/cheese, enough protein to spare your muscle mass) to carnivore (animal products only, very minimal spices, usually salt only, no need to do macros, 1:1 protein to fat). That will be your own ketovore.

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  Рік тому +1

      I will cover that keto vs ketovore question next Tuesday because it does come up a lot! I'm thinking with the veggies it must be that some are higher in those plant toxins I keep hearing about!
