    Just as feedback: we came back from Korea last week and we tried the hanu place you mentioned. it was incredible! Thank you for the tip. Also, as a tip to anyone struggling with gluten intolerance that isn't tied to celiac disease: try Trimebutine maleate from a Korean pharmacy. This is what I got there and it worked beautifully as I wasn't able to 100% avoid gluten (soy sauce is in almost everything). Didn't have any issues, which is miraculous. :)

      @Xia-hu hi there, thank you so much for the tips, and really glad to hear that you enjoyed the hanwoo place! We'll pin this comment just so others can see, as I think it's helpful for a lot of people. Here is it written in Korean if anyone needs it too: 트리메부틴말레산염
      All the best, and thanks again for letting us know!

    Thanks for another great video guide Matt and Yujin. On another note I’ve just completed my first 6 days in Korea and Seoul. Tomorrow I go to Busan on the KTX of course with LTF in my pocket. I used the LTF itinerary for Seoul as a guide and I can say the guide enhanced my stay by at least 100%. If it wasn’t for the intense heat that LTF had eluded to in other vlogs I certainly would have done more. That leaves plenty to do next time. If anyone connected to the Korean Government sees this comment please arrange for LTF to at least be given a retainer as judging by the number of interested visitors and potential visitors on the channel. I’m sure LTF is bringing more visitors and making more happy visitors. I am one of those, You know happy visitors spend more money. I think LTF wouldn’t ask themselves, however,an offer would at least be appreciated.
    Further, a few thoughts for other visitors. It would be great if LTF completed the menus by providing a guide for coming in by plane. Also I tried Kakao maps and found the lesser places came up with Korean instead of English which was no help for me. I tried Google Maps which looked ok, however, some of the translations were wrong. This caused me to get lost in my first attempt at the Seoul metro. I found that NAVER map was the best for me as an English speaker. Now with some experience with the impressive Seoul public transport I feel I have achieved proficiency. I should have re studied the LTF metro guide earlier. The I would be an expert. Thanks a lot LFT from Busan I will travel to Jeju where I’ll again use your guide. Regards

      @howardlee7189 wow thank you so much for the nice comment and praise Howard! Really happy to hear that you've had a good trip in Korea so far! Like you said, it's incredibly hard (almost impossible) to explore in the summertime heat, but hopefully you've been able to get a little taste of what Korea is like, and then someday definitely return in the Spring or Fall for the nicer weather!
      Also the tip about Naver Map is really helpful, and it's really important for others to know as well! I'm going to add a subtitle for the subway video, as I assumed that Kakao Maps would be in English for everyone but apparently it's not, so I'm going to start recommending Naver Map for everyone except for cyclists who want to know the elevation of their route (only Kakao does that). Really glad to hear that you've gotten better on the subways here, and hope you guys have an amazing trip to Busan and Jeju! All the best and take care eh!

    Hiya folks, great video, I like the style, soundtrack, clips and more, and how you speak both English and Korean; helps learners understand pronunciation! 😊❤ As well your partner speaks Korean only in the video, even though I'm sure her English is great too. I'm going to go through the older videos you've made, can't wait! 😊 I hope your channel blows up and you can enjoy more free offers from restaurants and more, and enjoy the benefits humbly. Many thanks for the content! Would be happy to buy some merch to support you kind folks. 🎉💐 ❤😊Thank you ❤

      Hey @petero7130 thank you so much! Really glad to hear that the English and Korean swapping is okay too. We normally speak Korean together, so I switch to English when we are filming because it feels like I'm addressing a mostly English audience. Really appreciate all of the kind words and support, and someday it would definitely be nice to make some cool merchandise that speaks to people who love adventure! Take care eh! 😊

    Thank you for a wonderful BBQ video. Korean food just isn't the same outside of Korea. I miss food the most! I would love to see different region's/city's food specialties as you travel outside of Seoul and all around Korea in your van. For example: 전주비빔밥. Good luck!

    Greatly appreciate your channel and content - keep it up!
    One other term which you could add to your BBQ Vocabulary Guide is Grilled Clams/Seafood - Jogae-Gui / Jogaegui (조개구이). I love all Korean BBQ but fresh Jogae-Gui is my favourite!
    Normally it's best/freshest near the coast. Some places offer fixed price/all you can eat, other places charge based on what you order (which can quickly add up if you aren't careful).
    Hope we get to see you try some as you travel to Busan and other coastal spots in your van. Safe travels!

      Thanks so much @classickdramaclips! That's really humbling to hear, and really appreciate you watching our videos! I replied earlier so I copied that and pasted below, but in addition I'll tell you that the lens is the most important, so I use a 24-70 f2.8 lens on my S5II for the barbecue shots, and I think it enhances them a little bit!
      We use three main cameras:
      1) DJI Action 4 - every shot of us talking to the camera and walking around
      2) Sony ZV-1 - stationary shots for videos like this where we have to pack really light
      3) Panasonic S5II - this is a more professional camera, but it's a lot bigger so we use it mainly for our guide videos and also the random adventure videos for the stationary footage (not walking or vlog shots)

    I found your channel just last week and have binged almost all your videos! Your guides are so informative and well thought out! I can’t wait for my Korea trip in March!! Can I ask for advice on a 8 day trip to Seoul and Jeju? Is this possible? And if so, how should we plan it and how can we buy tickets to Jeju from Seoul? Or would Nami Island be better to go to vs going to Jeju island?

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому

      @cellysabundantlife5062 wow thank you so much for watching our videos! Really happy to hear there was some helpful information too! 8 days will be pushing it I think to see Seoul and Jeju if it's your first time. You would probably have to explore mostly Northern Seoul (Hongdae, Myeongdong, Namsan, Namdaemun, Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung) for about 4 nights, then fly to Jeju and spend 2 nights there, fly back to Seoul and spend the last night before going back. You can check flights on Google Flights or Skyscanner to get to Jeju.
      You can easily get to Nami Island and back to Seoul in one day, so that might be a better option, but definitely do some research on Nami Island before going to make sure it's somewhere you want to go.

Google Maps and TripAdvisor are used a lot by tourists here but not really that much by Koreans (especially TripAdvisor) to be honest.

    Hi! Thanks for the recommendations. I was in Korea in September and we went to a pork kkbq restaurant ran by a husband and wife. We had to leave the station by going up a elevator and onto the street where there were stairs. We had to go left and down the hill. I can't remember what it was called and I want to go again when I visit in the spring. Do you have any idea what it's called. The only thing I can remember is that it was west of myeongdong and the ratings were really high. Not anything fancy. Again I remember they only served marinated pork. We got some type of seafood stew and the rice had red bean paste in it I believe. It is a local spot for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated and keep the videos coming in.

    I travel Solo, how am I supposed to eat those huge servings. I watched already your video about Solo eating in SK, but I want to try that Hanwoo place. I will be in SK this October, thanks

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому

      @girleyborer472 the Hanwoo place is really popular in that neighbourhood so they only let groups of 2 or more in unfortunately (or people who can eat 500g could go in).
      If you really want to try hanwoo alone, I've heard you can do it at Majang Meat Market here naver.me/FyenAZeB but I've never been there before so I can't vouch for it personally.

    Most samgyeopsal places are crowded, cramped, and filled with noisy ajummas. That first place looked like a refreshing change of pace.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому

      @doug2731 this is a very good point. The samgyeopsal place in this video is pretty quiet, and as a plus it hasn't gained much popularity yet so it's been relatively empty both times we've been there.

    Is there a brand of Soju you recommend? I tried some and wasn't sure about it. But we have tried Makgeolli and really like that.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому +1

      @marcomorales920 I think Jinro (blueish green bottle with the frog) is the one I'd recommend to most people. Sae-ro is good too, and try out Daesun if you're in Busan. Keep in mind soju doesn't really taste "good" in my opinion, but if you have it lots of times you get used to it, and then you can't have anything else with barbecue haha.
      I like the flavour of makgeolli a lot more as well, but it doesn't have that edgy kick to it that soju has, so I prefer makgeolli with mellower foods like jeon or samgyetang.

      @buttlebe it's not too far away from Guro Digital Complex Station (구로디지털단지역) exit 1 or 6. Not Guro Station just so you know.

      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому

      @AngByahero if you can eat 2 servings (300g) I'm sure they will be fine with someone eating alone. They most likely won't let you order 1 serving though.

    Very interesting video. I grew up in Korea in the 80's and back then, almost all meat was grilled on 연탄 or coal cylinder. 연탄 불고기, or coal beef bulgogi was very common BBQ and normally grilled before serving. I lived in Korea for a year back in early 2000's and recently revisited and it was very hard to find.. you can't beat the taste of Korean beef cooked over 연탄.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому

      @jhchooo 연탄불고기 is amazing! It's been a while since I've had it, but I'm craving some now. You're definitely right that a lot of 불고기 places have converted to gas burners instead, and it has a completely different flavour/texture.

    Thanks for the tips! At the chicken grill place, are the chicken pieces already marinated in soy sauce? I'm gluten intolerant and soy sauce in Korea in restaurants almost always contains wheat :( do you think it is possible to ask for unmarinated meat?

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  4 місяці тому +1

      @Xia-hu unfortunately I don't think it's possible to order the chicken without it being marinated. You could try copy and pasting this and showing it to them as see what they say, but I wouldn't go far out of your way to try as I think it might be difficult.
      저는 숯불닭갈비 먹어 보고 싶은데 알레르기 때문에 간장이나 다른 양념으로 만든 고기를 못 먹어요. 혹시 양념 아예 없는 닭갈비를 주문할 수 있을까요?
      "I want to try the sut-bul dak-galbi, but because of my allergies I can't eat meat marinated in soy sauce or other seasonings. It it possible to order the dak-galbi that's not marinated at all?"
      (I mention you have an allergy, because there's a good chance they won't know what it means if you say you are gluten intolerant because that's not a common thing for people to know about here)

      @buttlebe in Myeongdong all of the Hanwoo places I've seen are about 3x as expensive as the restaurant we went to so I haven't been and can't recommend anything. Naver Blogs seem to recommend this place: naver.me/Ga2NtDQy
      I've actually never seen a place as cheap/good as the one in this video before anywhere in Seoul.
