- WET STYLING VS DAMP STYLING CURLY HAIR | What Gives LESS Frizz&MORE Volume? What Lasts the longest?
Hello guys! In today's video I am comparing wet styling & damp styling. I bring you along with me for 3 days to analyze my hair. We'll see if the side that I styled wet gives my curly hair less frizz and more volume than the side I styled while my hair was damp.
Thank you so much for watching & don't forget to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to watch my curly hair videos weekly.
A bit about my hair:
Low porosity, high density, medium to coarse, 2c-3b curls all over my head.
Products used:
Cantu cocunut curling cream
Cantu flaxseed cream gel
denman brush

The damp side looks soooo good!!
When I started I was damp styling, but I stopped because everyone swear by wet styling...After this video, I think I need to damp style again
I was shocked honestly. I remember at a salon they told me to start wet styling over 2 years ago so that’s all I did 💕😭
Thank you so much! 💕
You have the dreamiest hair everrrrrrr! I think you would look SO good with some bangs!! 😍💯✨
Thank you sooooo much!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕
I appreciate you taking the time to do this comparison. There are so many "curly hair rules" that we follow blindly without even knowing if it's the right thing to do for our type of hair. Your damp styling side definitely looks better and lasted longer! Great video 😍
Thank you so much & yes! Everyone’s hair is different and different things work differently 💕💕
Hi, Alexa. I just wanted to say you have CHANGED my hair game!! I've tried your denman brush technique twice now and my curls are absolutely perfect! Thanks, beautiful 😘
Thank you so much & I’m glad it’s working for you. Let me know if you have any questions 💕💕💕💕💕
Am I the only one who always does dry styling and likes it the most ?😅
Luisa Cattaneo I think I’ve been converted to damp styling haha 😆 people need to give it a true opportunity!!
Fellow native New Yorker here. The damp side looks the best. I used to wet style and my hair took hours to dry and I have fine hair. I took Manes by Mel’s suggestion to damp style and have been doing it ever since. I’m so glad I came across your channel. I’m a New subscriber and I love your hair/curls. Wish I had your natural volume. I have to pineapple my hair to get more volume.
Hi! Thank you so much 💕💕💕& yes wet styling makes my hair dry so slow. & thank you so much for subscribing. I really appreciate it. I’m going to be doing a volume video this upcoming week. & pineapples help so much with volume!
Ok! I’m sold! I need to try damp styling!!!😍❤️
Yessss you need to try it 😭😭😱💕
Damp side rules! I've never tried damp styling, but now I have to 😆
Thank you & def let me know how it goes!!! 💕💕💕
I searched every where for this answer. You make videos on exactly what newbies want to know. thankyou❤️
I’m glad this is helpful :)
The healthier the curls the better damp styling works. If you are still transitioning this technique can be harder to get consistent results. However damp styling for healthy hair is a win for most textures. It drys faster, you use less product and usually get more volume. I love both techniques for my hair.
Ps I love the damp side vrs the wet side. Theirs absolutely a huge difference. Less blow drying equaled less frizzy ends and more definition overall and volume on day one 🤩 🙌🏽
Wooow 😍😍 definitely going to try damp styling next time. Great video as usual 🙂👌🏽
Yes try it! & thank you so much 💕
Your curls are insane!!!
Hey! Thank you so much haha 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Yaaaay!! I found you on the curly group 😍
Yay hiii!! 💕💕💕💕
Wow! 😱 Your hair is so amazing 😍
It looks fabulous either way, really gorgeous ❤
Thank you!
The damp side is wayyyy better!!! Love your hair so beautiful! 😍
Right?! Thank you so much 💕💕💕
I’m loving the damp side .
Thank you! 💕💕💕
Gorgeous video!
Thank you!
Liked and subscribed ! May I say those curls are the most gorgeous i have ever seen 🤩😻I just discovered a couple of your videos yesterday, and I love what you re sharing !
I was also using the denman brush (well not the real one just a look-alike 🙈) for almost a year and loved how it improves the definition, then I tried fingercoiling and felt it actually trains the curl for a better pattern, now that i saw how you twist and twirl the brush i feel you created a technique of your own and combined the best of both methods ! Haven’t seen any other of the famous curly gurus out there doing it but you may wana patent it 😂
can’t wait to try damp styling as well, i always hated how long my hair takes to dry properly and your results are so promising 🤞🏽🤞🏽Sending love from Qatar
Awesome. Thank you so much & welcome :) 💕💕yes I think finger coiling & using the denman brush how I use it gives you different styles. I did it side to side once and noticed. & yes! Try damp styling. I didn’t for so long because I was scared. But finding the right products to pair up with damp styling changes your life 💕💕
Hey gorgeous 💕 found you on Ysabellas skyy channel ! 😍 your curls are sooooo beautiful 💕
thank you sooo much :)
your hair looks so good with both!! but I feel like the wet side is more defined? maybe my eyes are crazy😅. I personally find that products stick and work better for my hair when I wet style!❤️
Thank you so much girl! I agree some pieces were more defined but I want to keep experimenting with it damp because it dried so fast.
I read that people with low porosity hair should apply products on damp hair and not wet so I guess that's why that side looks better :)
Yeah maybe. I was trying to find articles or a blog post on this but it’s been a little difficult. Where did you hear that exactly?! It’s interesting. I’m glad I did this haha 💕
Thanks so much I’m going to read this later. 😀
@@AlexasCurls Checkout Iyda Michael's video "Natural hair types & tips" where she also talks about that. You're welcome! ❤️
I like the damp side. More volume!
Thank you and I agree! 😀
I would be happy just with half of that volume. 🤣🤣🤣 Imagine with all that volume 😍😍😍😍
love the song ;)))
You inspire me a ton 💕💕💕💕💕
Alexa’s Curls loved this video as per usual bby💖😍😍
That’s crazy cause they say that damp styling is more prone to frizz since with wet styling, you’re not giving the cuticle time to dry and rise up! I haven’t tried damp styling because of this. I wanna try damp styling now haha!
I know right? I was expecting a mess haha. Def try it and see how your hair reacts. I’m going to keep experimenting more with it 💕
Alexa’s Curls that’s so cool! Can you tell me what the big deal is with wet plopping?? I tried it before but I don’t think I really understood what I was expecting, haha!
Now this makes me want to damp style today
Def try it and see if it works for you 💕
If anyone might be wondering, I tried the damp styling with the top down styling method. I have pretty thick 2C 3A hair which goes way below my waist hence my hair gets very weighed down while wet styling.
This gave me the best curls/waves I have seen in years❤️
Definitely give this a try guys.
@@DikshaBaidya yessss! I’ve tried that combo! I’m glad it worked for you 💕
Hey actually I wanted to know is.....evn though your hair were dry for damp style...they didn't look frizzy I mean.....cuz when I dry brush my hair goes so frizzy tht my face can be seen😂😂😂... please suggest anything for it🥲🥲🥲
I find that wet styling especially everyday will lead to hygral fatigue
Where are you from? I like your accent
I’m from New York. Thank you 💕
I use to do wet styling all the time and I remember it use to take me forever to dry, now I do the damp styling instead it’s way better!
Edit: ua-cam.com/video/VClMotv_gPk/v-deo.html
I just uploaded my curly hair routine I hope you find it helpful and entertaining
Yes def gonna do this more now because the amount of time wet styling takes to dry is crazy!
