I need to locate All my versions together! It is good to know there is also a Blu Ray with this 4K.
Such a great movie imo. One of Jet Li’s best. 👍🏻
Nice unboxing! I do plan on getting the 4K version. The cover art is just simply beautiful!
The artwork is so beautiful on this release!
I love the Jet Li resurgence right now 😊.
Couldn't agree more mate!
Looking forward to rewatching this on 4K -- hope mine arrives soon - looks nice!
An all-timer!
My favourite Jet Li movie. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I don't have them to compare now but briefly had the UK Cine-asia DVD and Blu-ray. Cine-asia were just repackaging the Dragon Dynasty releases, even says Dragon Dynasty on the cover. The Cine-asia isn't just an upscale of the DVD. It's a solid release for a 2010 era Blu-ray. Maybe people's definitions differ but an upscale to me would means it basically looks like the DVD. It's also uncut with the original Cantonese mono. Still expecting 88's release to easily beat it.
I got my Blu-ray copy, but unfortunately it doesn’t contain the art poster & the booklet. Maybe it’s exclusive for 4K Blu-rays only 😢
Aye, 88 tested out only putting the poster and booklet into the 4K versions of a couple of their recent releases, there had been a bit of a backlash against it so they announced that they’ll not do it anymore, but it does affect Fist of legend and I think to Kill with intrigue.
That looks really nice, but with so many new titles coming out I think I'll stick with my CineAsia Blu-ray. I'm finding it m9re and more difficult to justify multiple dipping. Like yourself, I had the Made In Hong Kong vhs. Those were the days. ❤
I would love to know if the included blu-ray is also sourced from the 4k restoration.
I believe so yes.
Nice consise unboxing vlog as always. Not opened mine yet, so, nice to see the content. Like you has to be my favourite Jet film alongside (for me anyway) Blackmask. The only copy iv seen of this was a bootleg vhs on release back in the nineties, as were most of my hong kong cinema new releases, (we all had a guy back then) so its great to finally revisit them now in these formats.👍👊
Thanks mate, cheers for checking it out! we're in a great time just now for physical media! really great quality releases coming out thick and fast, whilst it's an expensive hobby, and hard to keep up some times, I'm really glad that we're getting such a solid run of titles!
Thank you friend.
I need to order this. I will probably sell my UHD copy. Leaning towards selling all of them.
I can understand that mate, they’ve been making weirder and weirder choices. WCL have been putting out the more interesting Asian cinema releases in HK/China recently. UHD club are getting more and more fixated exclusively on Western movies.
@@TheFanaticalDragon Yup, and the label for me is tarnished for it's connection to the scumbag at Media Psychos.
@mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid aye, I’m done with all group buy sites, had more bad experiences than good. It’s not worth the risk.
Yes do a comparison please🙏
I grew up with this film. Honestly don’t know which version I like better, the Bruce Lee one or the Jet Li one?
For now on, I lean towards the Jet Li one as it contains one of my favourite fight scenes with Jet Li and Billy Chow, Canadian Hong Kong kickboxer who played the Japanese baddie.
Can’t wait to see that fight scene in glorious 4K when my copy arrives.
Similar story for me too, and whilst Fist of Fury is probably my overall favourite Bruce Lee movie ( or a neck and neck close tie with Enter The Dragon) I prefer Fist of legend. It feels like the role that really fits Jet Li’s strengths the best. The 4K looks great, it’s a very restrained and considered restoration. Not heavily HDR’d just beautifully presented. Hope you get your copy soon.
For me fist of fury just edges it Bruce's acting and interpreter woo
Nice!
Is the Extended Taiwanese cut also included? Thanks for the unboxing btw.
my pleasure, thanks for watching! and nope, just the HK cut of the movie is included.
@@TheFanaticalDragonthanks. 88 usually source multiple cuts. Main thing is this will likely be a solid release. Looking forward to Tai Chi Master and Bodyguard from Beijing too. That one will be especially important as the only DVDs are the US English dub DVD or a VCD level quality DVD with burnt in English subs. Bodyguard from Beijing has been treated even more badly than Fist of Legend.
@bradavon from what I can gather this one was an expensive get for 88 due to the Miramax involvement, they couldn’t get the English dub for this, which doesn’t remotely phase me but seems to have annoyed lots of people.
Yes do
👍👍👍
I'm old enough to remember when the only English friendly releases were the US Dimension English dub DVD or a Taiwanese DVD of the Extended Cut with burnt in English subs that was longer but terrible quality. Younger folk who started with Blu-ray may not realise how bad Jet Li's films were treated on DVD.
you and me both mate.
It's the best kongfu movie. what a pity there is no madrin dubbing.
I’ll do a proper review and comparison video soon, the other version I show in the video, the UhD club version has the Mandarin Dub. It’s quite difficult to track down now though.
🔥🔥🔥👍
Looks amazing, but what is the Blu-ray's disk region? my Blu-ray player plays European only, which "PAL" or "Region 2". so, I hope the disk is European ..
Yes, region B for the Bluray
@@TheFanaticalDragon coooool ..this movie worth buying then 🙂
Not sure why they are choosing NOT to put the poster/booklet in the blu only release, rather annoying.
They made a statement about this recently actually, they indicated they were trying to push people towards the 4K/Bluray combo as their costs to produce the 4K sets are much higher, but have quickly realised withholding the poster and booklet from the standalone bluray wasn't the right way to go about it. They've said they'll not be doing it moving forward ( but there are one or maybe two other titles this is the case for too)
@@TheFanaticalDragon Its just that a lot of folk have been loyal and bought their runs of blus so want to keep the uniformity and have the poster/booklet. I bought DRAGONS FOREVER and TO KILL WITH INTRIGUE to ensure I got the booklet etc but cant really afford the added expense, just wanted to keep my Jackie Chan 88 releases nice as Ive bought them all from day 1 with slipcases.
COUNT DRACULA (christopher lee) was another 88 release recently that had no slipcover on the standalone blu so looks lesser alongside their previous C Lee releases that do have them. With no slip they start the temptation for folk to WAIT and not get them on day one, to wait till they go cheap as the release will be the same (all copies will have no slip) so it potentially lessens revenue.
@AngryPapaSmurf I totally get it and entirely agree, it was definitely a misstep on their part, I’m glad sense prevailed. I do understand why they’re struggling with the expense of trying to move into 4K’s though, not entirely sure it’s entirely necessary as most folks are pretty happy with regular Blu-rays. TBH, I’m amazed at 88’s ability to compete with the other labels and often lead the charge into new areas. It’s literally a two man operation and they both have fulltime day jobs. The fact they manage the number of releases they do and at the quality they generally all tend to be is pretty insane.
The music in the Hong Kong version ruins the film for me, it doesn't suit it at all in my opinion.
Interesting, Was the Miramax version the dub you saw first?
@@TheFanaticalDragon Yeah I grew up with that one so it's hard for me to not be biased but I just think the sound and music cues suited the action better in the dubbed version.
@williamwest7008 I get that, I grew up on the Chinese language version so first time hearing the English dub was like nails on a chalkboard for me. Nostalgia is a powerful thing!
They removed the english dub, I'll pass.
Not quite. They didn’t remove it, the cost of licensing it from Miramax was insanely high and would have killed the release dead. I’ve never watched this movie with the English dub, no idea why anyone would want to. But that’s just me. You can get it easily on the old Dragon Dynasty release. The picture quality is shocking but you can watch it with the dub track if that’s your bag.
@@TheFanaticalDragon Preference I guess, Its how I grew up watching them in the 80's
@@VanFS3K I get it, that’s how I first saw a bunch of Shaw’s titles so am more nostalgic for those dubs from time to time, but usually always prefer subs for movies and anime. But like you say, it’s totally just a personal preference.
a film ruined by speeding up every scene . AWFUL remake .
speed ramping has always been present in martial arts cinema, it’s certainly much more prevalent and extreme in 90’s films I don’t agree that it ruined the film nor that the movie is ‘awful’, far from it. But totally understand it’s not to everyone’s taste and obv not to yours.
@@TheFanaticalDragon as a fan of the genre as soon as I see a cranking of the speed , even in the first minute , the film has lost my attention Jet Li has never really done it for me , his physical presence is weak. Fist of Legend was OTT in the use of speeding up and missed a chance to be a classic. Love your channel now go find the intercepting fist trailer !
