    Hello All ,
Bass Buzz Is More Than Simply Learning Songs - My name is Travis and I am the actual student at the 10:06 time stamp in this brilliant episode here. I happily joined Bass Buzz in August of 2020 and the support by Josh Man , The Forum , And Other Noobies was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. Just began playing in front of others Spring of 2023 as I worked through the Bass Buzz program at my own pace. I highly recommend researching Bass Buzz and begin your Bad A$$ adventure pronto.
Seriously, if you have any hesitation , ask me. I will answer any of your questions to the best of my ability or I will definitely ask your question in the forum section so that we share concrete proven advice with you all. I have zero regrets and I am so thankful that I signed up to become a Bass Buzz Bad A$$.
    Stay Rowdy ,

Confession time: I started guitar 25 years ago starting from step 55. It was really hard for me to go back to the basics and relearn everything the proper way. Then I moved to bass, and luckily most of what I learned can be transferred to this instrument (apart from plucking, which I really sucked at first). Thanks Josh for preventing people like me from learning the wrong way!

Oh wow I'm in this video at the 00:18 second mark!
This channel, Josh himself and the lessons have helped me get better in a big way. I learned how to slow things down to get it right and increase the difficulty and keep working at it and it has helped me keep motivated and learn things that I thought I'd never get better at like octave shapes, string switching and not cutting off notes when they need to ring out. I started the b2b course in late september and finished in about a month and a half and since then I have learned about 20 songs I owe a lot of it to those lessons, the community on bassbuzz and the lessons from the videos on this channel to help me get started!

I've been playing the guitar since I was 7, and the bass since I was 22...( I'm 64)...learned how to read by the time I was 9, but felt at the time that learning scales and fundamentals was slowing me down, so I quit lessons and started learning by listening to records (The Beatles, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Simon and Garfunkle, America, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd....you get the idea)...I enjoy your videos because you make excellent points for noobs as well as experienced players - don't give up, practice, push through the difficult lessons, learn as much as you can...This has helped me throughout my career as a bassist as well as a guitarist. I've toured as a pro out of Nashville with some pro Nashville acts, and I've been lucky enough to have played in a million bars...there is nothing without music, and it's SO much more fun if YOU'RE making the music...
Keep up the good work, and LISTEN TO THIS DUDE...HE KNOWS HIS STUFF...

All my early "lessons" were limited to a friend showing me how to tune, know the notes of the fret board, and learn the notes on the F clef. Then I was off and running, meaning I learned everything by ear. It may have been the long way around, but the challenge kept me going for 50 years. The "joke" graphic at 10:40 is what I learned on day one :)

Also a B2B Student here and I can wholeheartedly recommend buying Joshs course!
It get's you to a point where you know all the important things to venture out on your own and explore music.
Does it spit you out as a perfect bass machine? Absolutely not, you'll have a ton of stuff to work on, but you're competent enough to get your feet wet in the music that YOU want to play.
The forum is filled with supportive people who geek out about gear or what songs they're covering at the moment. Some stay for the duration of their course, others have been there for years, it really is a cool place to start.
From there on out, just learn what you feel would give you the biggest benefit. Chord Tones from Talking Bass for example is a good next stop, others go over to SBL.
So Josh: When do we get more specialized courses from you so we don't have to go throw our money at other teachers? 😛

learning all the small technique on bass that makes the songs and notes you play or dont play is definitely a challenge but man does it really make your playing style sound so much better it doesnt really take long at all before you can read a tab or play off a backing track where you robotically chug out songs and it pretty much sounds like a song you know where you can turn your amp up and not be embarassed but when you learn how to actually play things in time with the right rhythms and techniques it's so fun

This is a really good list as far as I can tell (as someone who can put checkmarks next to almost all points, after many years of self-learning). Maybe I missed them, but two more aspects seem useful:
    - develop your ear. I regret not putting in the work much earlier, and I still have a long way to go, but being able to figure out basslines by ear and to hear what the musicians around you are doing harmonically is really useful.
    - learn to read sheet music. For bassists, that's a niche skill, but if you want to go "beyond badass" you should not be totally lost when your bigband leader or the arranger in your studio session hands you the sheet music for a piece.

The Beginner to Badass course was worth the money. He presents it in a humorous way, while you're learning.

Thanks Josh, I rally enjoy your lessons and humor. I'm just here watching your lessons, while waiting on my first bass, after playing guitar for decades. Can't wait to start, I orderded a Squire Classic vibe P Bass in Sunburst. The big advantage is that I can watch first and learn allready what to look at when starting bass. I hope to get it soon, but allready ordered it like 2 months ago.

Love the channel and the course. Well worth buying. In my opinion the best presented and easy to understand. I owe most of my bass progress to that course. I would love it if you made another one that builds on the beginner to badass! Any chance of that happening Josh? Love the content and the way you teach ❤

I very much appreciate this video because of your effort into what you do and this is an infinitely useful tool for myself. Even if I learn everything for free from you, I'll probably buy your course once I got the dough. I did the same with permaculture (and for the certificate); where I learned everything online from reading and teachers yet i still bought the course to respect the art. Much love, much funk.

In one year, I went from not being able to play anything to making my own basslines that I enjoy as part of a band

I am grateful to you for the Psycho Killer suggestion. With it I learned staccato in two ways ánd strengthened my left pinky ánd learned to use my right ring finger for plucking in two weeks. It took me less than ten minutes a day.
Plucking with three fingers comes in handy when learning triplets and galloping rhythms.

So look..., I'm starting over since not really playing, for like a very long time. I'm loving Josh, his energy and obviously skills. Can anyone advocate for the paid lessons in a way that makes sense. I mean there's so much he's giving away. I'm willing but I don't quite get why I would buy the lessons. Can yout ell I've never bought lessons before?!

I'm *this* close to buying the course. I've been playing bass for years on and off, but only learning a huge list of songs to jam along to. The more songs I learned the more I started understanding I completely messed up the basics, which in turn lead me to be more aware of awful timing and tune, as well as only recently started using the pinky finger to fret, imagine. It took trying to learn some difficult jamiroquai songs to finally understand how bad it was.
I think it might be time to learn bass the properly
