Hi Slick Willy! where did you find the pattern for the SWF Clouser Muddler fly at? I've got all of Bob's books and that pattern is not in any one of his 3 books. I could tie it from your video, but I do a better job learning a new fly with the actually pattern along side of me at the vice. Thanks for making this video and letting folks know this pattern is real and can be tied.
We actually developed this fly ourselves over many years of trial and error. I spent a lot of my youth fishing the South Florida Back Country. It was a lot of shallow mangrove coastlines with either grass or oyster bottom. Like most we love the Clouser Minow and tie it in all sizes and with many different materials. With the Muddler variant we found it doesn't sink as quickly but still swims hook up which is a must. This gave us the time to start working the fly and avoid getting hung on the bottom. Marabou is one of my favorite tying materials. Marabou comes to life in the water. The slightest movement or current makes the Marabou wiggle but if I am fishing really shallow water, I often use an all deer hair Clouser Muddler variant. I try to have a variety of sizes and styles every time I head out. Thanks for watching and good luck catching, SWF.
@@slickwillyfly7158 Is there any chance to get a recipe in a pdf on how to tie it? I don't do a good job at trying to tie a new fly from a video. You did a good a good job with the video, I just get really frustrated having to start and stop the video and having to go back and forth because of something I missed. I really want to tie this fly and try it in Montana where I live with brown and rainbow trout. Thank you for any help you can offer.
@@mtgrizzly52 I have never written any formal instructions on how to tie a fly but I don't mind taking care of this for you. I do need a little time to get this done. I am busy with work right now trying to meet some deadlines but I think I should be able to write something down for you this weekend. Do you have a prefered email? You can send it to slickwillyfly@gmail.com.
