I have learned that if I use fewer and smaller clumps of CF I have less problems with fouling. I try to use only one clump in the tail. The hook determines if my next clumps are at the head or if I need to make a body section. If I make a body section the top middle section will be longer than the bottom middle section. Keeping the bottom shorter helps with fouling. If your CF is long enough for the hook you selected, try dubbing the center of the hook and tying in the CF at the head of the fly. This can make the fly look amazing in the water and help with fouling. In the water, the body will show through the CF. I am also using less CF these days and am substituting it with Fin Racoon when possible. They are similar in apperance and function but the Fin Racoon doesn't foul like CF. Fin Racoon can be difficult to find and it's not a good substitue for all my CF flies, but definately worth testing. Thank you very much for this coment. You just gave me a great Idea for a future video. Thanks for watching, SWF.
What brand of craft for are you using? I’ve noticed there is a huge variation in quality
