• Joe Richardsons Metal ...
Hello fellow TWOTW fans or fellow Metalheads (or both), As a lifelong fan of the original (and the book) and guitarist for 30 years i've always wanted to have a go at a guitar heavy version of this. This is my work in progress version. Full length but i hope to revisit and get a drummer and maybe some vocal cast on it at some point but need to focus on my band for a bit.
I hope you enjoy it. Obviously I dont claim any ownership of any of the original music which is all owned by Jeff Wayne etc. I'm a fan, and this is purely a work of fanship.

For those interested, I’ve been also working on an original work - My musical version of Starship Troopers. Subscribe as I’ll be posting it here when it’s done later this year. Also progress report on cast for this WOTW cover - I have 3 voices confirmed so it’s coming together
Bring it on!! (Are you an Alan Parsons fan?)
Looking forward to hearing it!
Are auditions still open?
What guitar is this?
Super Awesome , great job 😱 Joseph 🎸. Greetings from the dutch lowlands NL 🇳🇱🌈🖖
So for those interested, I'm starting to work on building a vocal cast to take this to the next level... of course all with a metal twist... watch this space
Looking forward to it...Thanks a million for the effort, great metal version dude!
I must try that myself as I love singing Forever Autumn 🍂 💕
Yes!!! Goooooo!! Magical
This is so hard core. I love it!!! Can I offer my services for the part of Beth??!!!!!!😉😉
I'd love to be involved if you still need a bass vocalist. Or if you need some falsetto backing vocals or something :D
Was listening to the original and though "there HAS to be a metal cover" and this was perfect! Thank you!
The Australian band Alchemist also did a metal cover of Eve or the War, if you're interested.
I was 26 when bought the original in 1977, got hooked, and have even gotten my children into it big time… now I’m 71, and your version is truly awesome❣️❣️❣️ Really enjoyed it, 😊 and shared with my children. Can’t wait to see what they think of it. 💕
i swear it was released in 1978
Around 100 years before that
by far the best cover i've seen of this album.
Wow thanks for the comment!
This is one of those things in life you didn't realise you wanted until you heard it
Outstanding work dude!
Wow, somebody still making something about Jeff Wayne's WOTW... Im so happy to know that!)))
From a Massive TWOTW fan... this is bloody amazing! Love it!
This is right up there with endless nights “They Drew their plans Against Us”. It’s beautiful man. 12/10.
Absolutely brilliantly done!!! Jeff Wayne would be proud. You did his work a total honor with this!!!
Revisited the WOTW soundtrack recently and thought, it’d be great if there were metal versions of some of these tracks... and here I am. Awesome work!
I loved listening to TWOTW on my dad's vinyl.. This version is fucking awesome!
Didn't know what to expect, but we'll impressed. Enjoyed every minute, and a vocal version will rock!
makes you appreciate Chris Speddings amazing ( other worldly ) guitar work on the original even more.
This is definitely a pumped-up version of this classic. Fantastic job.
I think Jeff Wayne would love it 👍
Brilliant 🏆
Man this rocks so damn hard, I've always dreamed of a sick metal cover album of waynes musical.
This is so close, all the tracks are great but Forever Autumn, Spirit of Man and Brave New World sound brilliant.
Would love to hear what it sounds like with vocals if/when you eventually get around to it!
Amazing work man, be proud!
Thanks! They are my faves too
This would be brilliant. Who could you get to rock harder than phil lynnott he was total genuis and no-one has ever got close to his Nathaniel
Its been a while since i heard this... Just as badass as the first
This is such great work, what a hidden gem this is. Hope more people come to find this and appreciate it.
Bloody. Hell. 😲
Look, I am not the biggest metal cover fan (at least on UA-cam there is a fair tendency to just go all loud and power-chordy to make it sound 'epic', making it generally fun but 'gimmicky').
But your interpretation is really fresh while clearly still lovingly respectful to the source material.
And your arrangements are balls to the wall clever!
Yeah, I'd *definitely* buy this. Any chance at all you'll ever be able to put this out commercially?
EDIT: might have paid off looking at the description *first*. Saw the bandcamp link now. Once I've figured out how that works you've got a customer! 😄
PS Jesus f*ck, Forever Autumn is RIDICULOUSLY good.
Hi Martijn thanks for the comment - it is on my bandcamp if you wanted to pick it up there everythingjoseph.bandcamp.com
Awesome work!! 🤘🖤
What an incredibly well produced tribute, love it \m/
Oh my! Massive fan of anything War of the Worlds and a metalhead. This is a dream and I'd love to see this played at Bloodstock. My jaw dropped even further when I saw the name of your band. I'm sure Ria could tackle many of the vocals with ease.
I’ve only listened to the first few minutes of this and already it sounds eeeeeeeepiiiiic!!!
This is absolutely killer version, never heard it played like this...Great job Joseph a big 10 for you!
very nice! Loving the lead guitar!
THIS IS SO GOOD
Best of both worlds!
Incredible work man… what an undertaking!
Kudos to you! This rendition is a masterpiece 🤘
I was linked this by a friend earlier and holy moly! Was utterly blown away! Stunning work!
Mother of god.
This is f**king incredible.
Thank-you.
Just thank-you x
Pleasure was all mine buddy, thanks, glad you enjoy it!
Absolutely epic!
So the Doom version of War of worlds is back?
This is very cool, and is instantly recognisable, good stuff.
Yah, this *is* going on my playlist for when I go on an art binge!!
This is phenomenal! What an exciting reimagining of a classic!
Thank you! Glad you like it!
This is just one of my favorite things.
Oh man you beat me to it! I love it so much !!!
Hard not to listen to the whole thing once you start, excellent work
I'm *FIRST FANDOM* (bought the original vinyl when it first came out) and you do it justice! \\//_ LL&P
It's excellent work my man!..
Yay it's back. The original video was deleted and i was wondering were it went, But here it is!
Yes sorry I improved the production on it in many ways so uploaded a new one 👍
Yeah!!!! Trop génial !!!!!🤘 this deserve much more views
I really like how The Red Weed parts 1&2 change up at 44:48 and 58:29. I'd love a full track like that.
I cannot wait to hear it with vocals. Great stuff
You nailed it Joseph. I loved Forever Autumn in particular.
Thank you for covering this... My only regret, is waiting this long to ask youtube if such a treasure exists. 🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤
Love it! I always wanted to hear a heavy metal wotw
Thanks - happy you found it!
Magnificent! Leonard Kaye, Lkcb 128.4 Classic Rock & Metal Damage 128.4
Bone chillingly rad.
Pure Talent! was half singing to forever autumn in my head
I always imagine Gareth Liddiard doing the vocal line, like it’s an Ozzy bloke caught in the UK fighting the martians for a laugh
I'd be honored to have a part in this if you would have me, I'd love to send you a voice sample. Big fan of the original, especially Thunderchild. Until we talk again, UUUUUUULLLLAAAAAA!
my mouth was literally on the floor i love it
Thanks!
I sure hope deep down inside u you have a live recording of u playing this masterpiece...please say yes!!!
Hey, that's really good
Awesome job JR!
God speed, Thunderchild. The little ship that was too angry to die!
Wow! This is fantastic.
Thanks John! Glad you like it
Wow this is great. Out of this world you might say.
Love this so much, as well as Starship Troopers! Hopefully you get the chance to record (non-demo vocals) on both 🎸
Heat Ray -very cool!
I heard the original the same night as my first voyage with vitamin A.
Years later, I found the LPs in a record store but didn't have the cash. Even if didn't buy it then, at least I knew it wasn't an hallucination.
This treatment puts a darker, harder edge to a hard, dark story. I LIKE IT!
If you can do this with your Starship Troopers project, I'll be more impressed than I already am.
My feline overlord likes it, too.
Too bad Phil Lynnott isn't here to reprise his part.
🎸🔥🤯🐈👑✌️🖖
Agree that this is the best cover. 👏👏👏Thanks bud. It will be great if you can split the songs 🙏
This is the greatest album title of all time XD
You are a metal god
Ha not sure that’s true but I’ll take that 🤣 thanks 🙏
Really feel as if there should be a lot more pinch harmonics in Horsell Common and the Heat Ray, but overall absolutely incredible, loved all of it
thanks! noted, when i get to adding vocals i plan to make some instrumental edits and this will be taken on board! its ironic really, i'm often accused of using too many pinched harmonics in my band lol
@@joerichardsonmusic Can never be too many harmonics in a metal band, genuinely excited for the next instalment, you've made something amazing here!
@@Shed_v2 Thanks my friend, working on it... :)
Jacked as hard to this as I did to the original 45 years ago
I think this is fucking great mate.
31:27 ITS BEAUTIFUL 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🗣🗣😭😭😭😭😭😭

For those interested i've uploaded a work in progress vocal version of this. using a combination of my own vocals and AI to create a placeholder cast for arrangement purposes. You can see it here ua-cam.com/video/s89VvYoUHOU/v-deo.html
Lemmy should have done the narration.
It is a crime that you only have 52 subscribers. IDk who were prosecuting, but within the week they will be hearing from my lawyers.
That's awesome! If you need any help, reach out.
ULLA!
I'm not a Metal fan at all but this is awesome!
Is that a real guitar? It looks fucking sick! I need that lol
Yup it was decorated for the 2013 live show tour and signed by Jeff Wayne and some of the cast - used it on a little bit of the recording (because I just had to really) 😂
@@joerichardsonmusic wow! That’s amazing!
I feel like you should have Bruce Dickinson somewhere in this
@@SixDifferentWays. ha yeah parts of it are very maiden
@@joerichardsonmusic Kirk Hammett is into classic horror, since wotw is one of the first horror books ever, I’d recommend trying to reach out to him
Would I perhaps have permission to use this in a war of he worlds themed indie-game I'm thinking about making? It's simply to good to pass up on
this is fuckin sick
Hey Joseph if you need lead vocals for the eve of war and thunderchild I'll be happy to help.
Dead London, epic
The Horsell Common bit sounds fiiiiiiilthy
ВАЩЕ СУУУПЕР!!!!!
Holy fuck this slaps
Umm is that good? 😂
@@joerichardsonmusic yes
@@dannyboyneverdies3437 well thank you very much then! 😂👍😀
I was wondering if it was alright if I used this in a WOTW video I plan on making later, credit would be given of course. If not I'd understand.
Sure 👍 if you don’t mind linking to my bandcamp page I’d appreciate it
thank you
Hey man, is there any advancements on the full album with vocal?
still the plan, assessing various options at the moment. not going to lie, will still be a while but i still hope to do it soon
Do you or anyone have any tab sheets for this?????
Sorry just did it all from ear
would be good with vocals so it tells the story
A very American version just like the crap movie's.
Well just for the record I’m English and it was played on a guitar built in Woking overlooking horsell common but hey thanks for your comment. America isn’t exactly known for making bad metal music either. I guess it was due an unnecessary salty comment so congrats bud 😂
@@joerichardsonmusic I'll try to only put positive comments just to boost you ego , brilliant version in fact better than the original 10 out or 10 , is that better or can I say what I really think ?
@@pauladams3135 no no it’s fine - if you don’t like it happy to hear it - just I normally provide my feedback to people based on some understanding, respect to the hours put in and with enough detail to actually understand the point. Saying it’s too “American” doesn’t really mean anything when no part of this production has anything to do with that country. The UK has many metal bands that sound very similar to stuff from the US. Anyway had no intention of making this a conversation. Just felt your dig was a little uninformed that’s all. But each to their own
@@joerichardsonmusic sorry but I'm a more of Gilmore fan .
Commendable effort, but to ME... I don't speak for anyone else... this is a great big pile of YUCK. I've been listening to this album since 1979, and every single attempt at redoing it in a uniquely different way just... well, SUCKS. But, nice try.
Fair enough, each to their own, thanks for giving it a go anyway, let’s be honest nothing will ever touch the magic of the original 👍
God this is terrible
Sick!
