The state of Texas is one of many I'm considering. Sorry, but from what I know about Lubbock, a place where my great grandfather was killed while serving as a police officer and where two of my uncles attended university, it would not be my first choice for residing in. My apologies if my feelings about Lubbock upset you.

The City life is start 30 miles south.

No. That's Houston. There's some oil production in and around Lubbock, but most of the oil production is in the Permian Basin (Midland-Odessa.) If it's still there, the large CoOp cottonseed mill is the only source of noxious vapors in Lubbock. Lubbock's industry is mostly in agriculture related areas.
