  • Enjoy a video on a brand new shortline on the channel in the form of the Columbus and Greenville Railway! So glad to film the 8720 finally! This video focuses on the Greenville switch job rather than the road job to Greenwood which had two typical G&W orange Geeps. May return to film the road job sometime in the future, but we will have to wait and see. Got another shortline in next week's video as well! Be on the lookout!

    Great video LRP! It’s great to see some non G&W orange equipment surviving on a G&W property.

    Great video!
    At the 2:12 mark, if you look at the backside of the fuel cell, you can see water pissing out. If I'm not mistaken, it's coming from the block drain which is how accumulation like rain water that enters through the exhaust stack is safely drained from the cylinders to prevent hydro-locking and other damage.
    I'm no expert, but I do remember when I worked at Titan, we had an old GP10 we used to switch and every morning we had to manually open drain cocks on the block to allow rain water to safely escape during engine start up.
    Looks like the same case here, but I could be wrong.

    Great catch of the CAGY with that GP11 and those stout horns! I've always liked stories of a short line railroad that's still surviving on the rails. Thanks again LRP for sharing this video with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Delmar, Delaware.

    Good one. Engines like this make G&W lines special. That and G&W tends to leave a lot of old landmarks (milepost, crossings, signals if you're lucky, etc) still standing. Have you been to Columbus to see the CAGY roundhouse? They have an old CAGY diesel on display there and Columbus has a ton of short line action as well.

      I visited the roundhouse probably 25 years ago, and if I recall it was an old Baldwin on display. I'd love to sight see again with a good camera!

    Thx for showing these shortlines. But many unanswered questions? How often do they run? Who are the customers in the port and along the line? What commodities are shipped?

      Sorry haha! Most of the time I don’t have time to make 30 minute productions. I had to head out to film another railroad in this case. Not to mention I find that the minutes in the 5-10 minute range usually are received pretty well.

    Does It ever hook to a Class 1 railroad network? I looked on Google maps and it doesn't seem to hook to any other railroad to distribute its goods across the country.

    Nice video! Are the two trains mentioned in the video daily jobs with a regular 0800 ish start?

    • @LouisianaRailProductions
      @LouisianaRailProductions  2 роки тому +1

      The road job doesn't start off in Greenville everyday. They start in Greenwood some days. I'd say get there at 7 to be safe.

    • @TezJ16
      @TezJ16 2 роки тому

      We both come on duty at 0700. The Greenwood crew typically leaves Greenwood one day then Greenville the next. Some days they may not run at all depending on if we get cars from CN.
