The intro to this song is the most genius thing Tom Delonge has ever written on guitar. in my opinion. Its so different from his other writing.
if you listen closely to the song is very similar to 'Im lost with out you' self titled album. light courses then explodes into a same chord progression chorus

I couldn’t help but notice nobody was bothering to play the main riff on the first verse. That’s lame. I expect more from Thomas. There are two guitarists up there holding their dicks before the lyrics!

The performance is so awesome and I don't fuckin care if Tom is using Autotune or not, ofc Tom is not the the greatest singer in the world, but hey I don't care and he does not give a fuck as well, that's what I like about Tom.
