Rob Zombie is the last guy I'd think would be a sports fan. Extra points for being a hockey fan. I'd definitely watch a movie about the 70s Flyers if it were made.
Didn't he give up on the idea of a movie and decide it would be better of as a short series but he stopped after Alan Rickman died because Rickman was a close friend and Kevin had put him in as a narrator
As a die hard Flyers fan I've been waiting for his Broad Street Bullies movies for years! Was bummed out when it looked like it wasn't happening. Would be such a great movie, the truth is definitely stranger than fiction with this story! I hope Joe is right and this drums up some interest.
I would love to see that movie, honestly.Anything to do with the flyers i'm in.Broadstreet bullies movie? I'm in.A hextall biopic? i'm in.A fictional horror hockey comedy about Gritty? Im in lol
As a Norwegian, i have my team. And when it was *Soccer* season, it was the same team. (But as soccer has turned out, nah. I can't respect idiots who make hundred and hundred of millions takes a dive so artistisk that even Bollywood has stepped down from the trone!) But my love for hockey started when i was around 6 or 7 years old back in 72/73. Our old black'n white tv revealed a sport that for me was so facinating when my dad let me watch a game between Canada and Russia! *DAMN!* when they threw of their helmets and gloves and started fighting so the *Cocoa* was flowing! And the share *THOGHT* of someone fighting on skates..... Man, with my experience with skates, i had an, maybe unhealthy respect for those guys!
I was fifteen in 1995. The first cd I got when I got a player was White Zombie- astrocreep 2000 and I was blown away. What a time to discover music as a kid. Rob Zombie and Peter Steele were my idols.
It's amazing Rob Zombie would be remembering things that most people in their 60s and 70s would be far more acquainted with. Clearly he's a buff of old films and many classics
I meet Rob at a Kings game at Staples center. Really nice down to earth guy. I recognized his his super long dreads and denim jacket. Was really cool. Love his music.
I'm from Philly, Born & Raised. I Grew up in the 80's on the stories of the "Broad Street Bully" Flyers & Watching All the old games from the 70's with my cousins. That Team of Bobby Clark, Dave "The Hammer" Schultz, Berny Parent, etc... Were F**King WARRIORS!! Those guys were the Vikings of Ice Hockey, I WISH Rob Zombie would make A Movie about them!!!
For those who are interested: The "Raised Eyebrows" film is still in development and moving forward; it's just that Rob won't be directing it. It's unfortunate he and the producers had a parting of ways, but it's still alive. Stay tuned.
People have always asked me being a metalhead what sport I thought exemplified heavy metal... My response was always hockey and people laughed. "But don't they skate on the ice like figure skaters." Hahaha. No. They skate at over 12 mph on average and slam into each other with all of their force. They beat the shit out of each other. They carry sticks and slide around a super cold terrain with knives on their feet. Hell even Bathory made a song about hokcey.
Truth. Many metal heads are hockey fans, including me. Daron Malakian from System of a Down is a giant Kings and Oilers fan, Jeff Hanneman from Slayer was a hockey fan...
I remember watching a Flyers/Bruins game on national tv back around '73 or '74. During warmups the 2 teams got into a huge brawl and the penalty boxes were full and the scoreboard was lit up like a christmas tree with players and penalty minutes before the game even started! Old time hockey!
Norm McDonald has funny story about meeting Schultz. He claims he asked for an autograph and Shultz flicked a cigarette at him and said "Fuck off"...and Norm was just a little kid. He talks about it on UA-cam
He makes them on a tight budget and profits each time. Nothing wrong with making movies that aren't giant Hollywood productions if that's what he wants to do. I'm sure he could retire to some beach and sip drinks for the rest of his life if he wanted to. Estimated net worth of $40 million.
@@EmoEmu makes them on a tight budget by asking his fans for money through crowd funding? Fan boy please. But I'd be willing to bet my left nut, three from hell ain't gonna make a profit. Be lucky to make 70 grand off DVD sales
Apparently players get injured much more today as well because they’re willing to charge head on into each other coz there won’t be any consequences from an enforcer
HBO did a doc on the Broad Street Bullies. Pretty good. Had never heard of them before 2010. Wasn't into hockey. My brothers could skate & we had sticks but nothing like being in a team. In our twenties a friend's brother turned us on to these hockey fight videos. Insane. My dad was an ironworker in NYC/NJ & lent a bullhorn to a worker who was going to a Ranger game one night. Needless to say he was arrested & said horn confiscated lol. Same kid took us to a Devils game & I said jeez these fights are no joke. He said this is nothing, wait till we go to a Ranger game at MSG!
I always liked rob zombie to a point! But now hearing him speak for the first time and how chill of a guy he is AND NOW knowing hes a huge hickey fan just made me love the guy now
My guess is he couldn’t get those movies made for the same reason Mel Brooks made sure he wasn’t listed as executive producer on The Elephant Man - once you’re pegged for doing a certain “thing”, the money people don’t want to take a risk on you doing something outside your “brand”. I’d love to see Rob go complete indie with some of his non-horror ideas.
I think this is as close as I will ever get to having a normal conversation with Rob Zombie. Grew up on his music... My favourite line from any song all time is, "Letherneckin' down the street, like hey I'm joy riding' like a bad dog, come on kick in..."

The hockey boards give when you hit them. It isn't that big of a shock. Anti-parallel collisions are a different story. The problem is when you go to a different rink and you have an expectation that the boards are going to give...and they don't. The average football player dwarfs the average hockey player by usually a couple inches and about 40 pounds.
I'm just trying to imagine the Groucho Marx movie by Rob Zombie. I think it would be great with his vision. I hope Rob never stops making horror, but I hope he continues to pursue non-horror stuff as well.
Rob Zombie is the perfect example of don't judge a book by it's cover. You would not expect him to be so articulate, intelligent and knowledgeable about anything else than drugs, alcohol abbd cigarettes and yet, he is fascinating to listen to and seems to be a regular nerd like many of us.
The Bruins went into the stands of Madison Square Garden, not The Flyers. However, The Bruins and Flyers would kick the piss out of each other every time they played.

Groucho Marx: Not that I care but where is your husband?

Maybe he still can.Hopefully,he would still be able to get them made.
A fight in the nhl is rarer than a hat trick nowadays☹️
Awe, what a tragedy they got rid of the untalented enforcers.
Josh Lewis their talent and role was being an enforcer...
That's what I was thinking, they kept talking about hockey fights like they're still common, but for the most part they've removed it from the game.
