You should always try to negotiate the price if something has been on the market for over a week. Key word TRY because you never know until you do. Especially right now because the market is extremely stagnant. I recently negotiated on a place in lower Manhattan and the landlord took the rent down by $150/month and decreased my security deposit to only $1,000 instead of $3,500 because I have an excellent credit score
Really?! I’m so happy you commented that so others can try this as well. I didn’t even think about trying to negotiate but it could save so much money down the line. YES! A good credit score is SOOO valuable in many situations. Thanks for the advice
Also, the best time to look for an apartment is going to be after summer. My suggestion has always been sometime in October through May for your best "deals". Try not to look for an apartment in late June through the summer. You'll be competing against all of the college students! good luck!
I'm a native New Yorker and I'm happy you found what you wanted but those apartments are so overpriced. I had no idea they were robbing people this bad in the city. My apartment is nicer, bigger, and a fraction of the cost of yours. I can't believe those apartments are over $3k and that tiny. Smh That is INSANE!!! You can get so much more for your money if you go to another borough. You guys could find something for $2k or less with more space and a better open floor plan than the one you chose. What's so horrible is that people eager to live in mid or lower Manhattan don't understand how dangerous and creepy it can be. Be well and be safe!
Luckily I have a partner so my half of the rent comes out to $1750! Which is still insane but if we were both living alone we’d be paying about the same. And again we prioritized location this time around. We landed in the upper west side which is great for the price I agree some other neighborhoods are extremely overpriced especially considering the brokers fees! And some are cheaper but not as conveniently placed for our needs this time around. sounds like you have a great spot! Hold on to it !
@@HeatherMaldonado_ not energy, specifically heat. In many nyc apartments heat is included in the rent. Because that unit is renovated, it looks like the heaters were replaced with electric heaters. If yes, your electric bill is going to be interesting in the winter.
Your first video I’ve seen, but is your boyfriend also on UA-cam and also did a video because I feel like I saw a lot of the same content from a man recently recently and he chose the same apartment.
Hello Your video making is very good. Your content ideas are very good. If you give me permission. I will share some information to increase your channel. Then you get lots of subscribe and views. Waiting for your valuable response. Best regards Thank you

Awesome video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR
final apartment was gorgeous. was it a walkup or elevator building?
@@bubuA08 thank you! Yes it was a relief after striking out with so many spots 😅 this one is a walk up! but luckily not many flights up
Curious, how much did you factor in for utilities? Looking at that unit, I’m wondering if heat is included or excluded from the rent?
Energy is set up separately through Con Ed and im 3 weeks into the apartment so I have NO CLUE 😳 am I going to be hit with a fat bill ?
