Interstate 35/80 Hickman Road Interchange Reconstruction Project in Urbandale, Iowa

John Larson, Director of Engineering at the City of Urbandale, does a deep dive into the Hickman Road interchange reconstruction project. In collaboration with the Iowa Department of Transportation, and the City of Clive, this initiative will create a safer intersection and interchange, enhancing a key entrance into Urbandale.
The project will be completed in three main phases. Phase I will begin to widen the interstate. Phase II, planned to start in July 2025, will finish the reconstruction of the interior interstate lanes. Finally, Phase III, planned to start in September 2026, will include most of the work on Hickman Road. The project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2029.
