      He should keep that catchphrase going, as it's what people identify (his videos) with, and people with ASD like repetition and routine..

    I feel like schools should do more to embrace the strengths and weaknesses of each student because in the end, stressing students out about their weaknesses too much is how some of them unfortunately end up with depression and anxiety.
    Great video as always, by the way!

    And if I’m honest I started following you just before my now 16yo got all his diagnosis done. You’ve been a HUGE source of information and understanding. I also appreciate how you interact with your fans and followers.

    Dan, this is Michele from Nashville, Tennessee - my 12-year-old son, Xander, was officially diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum this week. US psychiatrists doesn’t differentiate aspergers from high-functioning Autism now. Xander is one of the most creative, tech-savvy and super funny kids I’ve ever known. He’s ubersmart, was reading books at 3 or 4 and coding at 5. You two seem a lot alike. But he does struggle with loneliness and depression, especially as a “tween.” We love your videos - we appreciate your bravery in sharing your story with the world. It’s helping so many families ❤️ I recommended your videos to Xander’s pediatric psychiatric neurologist at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Thanks again so much for what you do!

    I think that it's not always that people are dismissive ,I think that they don't understand and don't realise what the nature of depression or other mental health disorders are . Thankfully you and others are helping to shed some light on these issues

    You are too handsome to wear that black back to front hat . You look tons better without it. So glad they doing things about mental health. I wish I had mental health worker in school, very tough time with trying to cope just everyday at school. It was years later before I found help and that's thanks to a great boss I used to have called George Stretfield(Denhay Farm in Dorset) he was amazing at encourage me to go. He saved my life. I named my son after him. We need lots of quiet times to cope with the super fast life full of terrible mental distractions which makes it harder on us. Hidden depression is something a lot of people don't understand. We put a brave face pretending all is ok but inside us we are screaming which wears us out. And this makes it even more difficult to focus. Your right about teachers etc giving pressure which backfires in a lot that struggle, trends to make them dig heals in and step back and lose interest because we have to much stress trying to cope with swapping classes all the time, the noise, trying to keep on top of difficult social interaction, trying to take in basic stuff but our brain is full of things going round and we tend to forget what instructions we're given, everyone else handing their work in and we stand there and think, err I did not absorb the instructions because our focus is poor. School needs to be more awareness and use different methods in making sure we got everything. Lots more things need to be done. Some schools now have quiet area for lunch times so that you get away from the hustle and bustle. But the changes needed is far too slow.

    It makes me so happy to know younger people are speaking out about mental health! It was definitely not talked about at all when I was a kid and in school. But seeing people able to be more open nowadays fills me with so much hope for the future. P.S. I really liked how you moved the camera around kind of in between shots like that! For some reason I found it easier to pay attention to haha.

    That was very cool. My children are at primary school but we are already dealing with mental health issues at there school it has become a big thing. As where I live we are living through earth quakes we had a couple of big ones 2011 and 2010 . And to this day we still have little ones and we have all noticed a change in the children. our Government has launch a mental health plan and are going to be putting health nurses into every school , university or politic so that the children have someone they can go to for help. Which is so good may be other countries could do the same?

    Dan, I'm really learning a lot about Aspergers Syndrome. My boyfriend Joel is 31 years old and has Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD and is totally deaf. I've never seen him depressed, but I've seen him get upset about things while on video chat. I've had to calm him down. He's basically a happy man.

    saddest thing I ever saw was my then 23 year old son suffer from major depressive disorder. Just thinking about it makes me weep. That is the time he was finally diagnosed with aspergers but I already knew. Seriously one of the darkest times of my life and his too. He is 26 now. He is a lot better but there is always that danger of this happening again.

    I hate when people try to tell you things about yourself. Like, you built up the courage and trust to tell them about this thing and they correct you or dismiss it like a know-it-all. That kind of thing in particular really really pisses me off and it always makes me cringe >_

  • @JessFuzz17

    It would be great if people were more aware of mental health issues and how to talk to people who suffer from it. For example, I was in situation where I told someone I had ASD and their immediate response was 'what? Does that mean your going to go hyper on me?' and then they spent the rest of the time being over-caring of sounds they thought I would have sensory issues with. This comes from a lack of association with Adults whom have ASD and awareness of the many shapes and forms it comes in.

    Every single mental illness/disorder I have I am considered "high functioning" so I feel like my issues aren't taken as seriously as someone who is low functioning. I have quite a few disorders but people look at me and say "Oh, you don't do x" or "You don't have x symptom" and it's like well, yeah, because I was bullied every time I showed those side effects or mannerisms so I learned to adapt coping mechanisms to get by and hide it. The only people who see the "real me" are my family and therapist.

    I was treated as a nuisance at school because i was always getting up and wandering around the class or finding it hard to concentrate on some subjects and being really engrossed in others. I was REALLY good at penny on the wall and won lots of money each day because i could see patterns of play really easily. On the whole school was good but i pulled hair out, stripped eye lashes, eyebrows and front of head (Ah the calls of the other kids shouting "BALDY " for 2 years was really great.....NOT).
    In certain lessons i was left along or encouragement given and i did well, others i was treated like a pariah and put on report or given detention and lost interest and did poorly. Teachers need to learn kids are not being difficult or "naughty" on purpose but because they are frustrated and find it hard to express feelings. I know as i'm dead inside, emotional wasteland and i don't see that changing, could be the copious amounts of pain killers i'm on after the accidents though?
    The only things that help is collecting, i am so focused and driven to succeed in my arbitrary mission that nothing else really matters, and this has been going on for the last 3 years with no sign of slowing. I've had interests before but have moved on to something else, this is just seeming to go on and on and on! Stupid brain, i want another, this one is boring me now.

    this is really good the editing is 10/10 I was wondering if you could do a video on autism and tinnitus, my ears randomly does this thing where it feels pressures or like kinda blocked and then all I would hear is ringing as if a bomb goes off but then it would only last a couple of secounds, last night it was different it lasted pretty long and it pushed me towards a meltdown because I was getting overstimulated to a internal noise, Btw im also in a band and I play bass!!

    Hi! I would like to write something about depression here,looking for some solutions and as always briefly.And of course I'm not talking about severe cases.So first we need to accept that low moments from time to time-sometimes is quite naturally,we can be tired,we need recharged,weather can affect,full moon can affect me-makes me feelagitated,we have biorthyms etc things we don't even realised...Onether is my dad give me small advise-when u have day like that try not to push yourself too much,cos things needs doing then like u said that's all growing and u will feel even worse,cos of all that.So do something small, but properly,focus on that,but small even some cleaning or redecorating your desk or whatever it will give u still that sense of productivity ;).Further here accept that maybe u are a bit melancholic by nature and that's fine.Is not so good saying Daniel that I'm super motivated pretty always if that not really u,u creating your own matrix or fantasy world like that.Try to accept who you truly are instead of wishing who u want to be,cos that eventually can make u feel worse.Well as far as I understood correctly what u was saying in video, I hope u don't mind.Im quite melancholic sometimes and that's ok I think.Onether thing i try to be gratefull for what I have-not easy sometimes,but even breathing,it sounds crazy but i struggle with cough not matter summer or winter,I'm ok now,so when we talk fast as Aspie and cough on the same time?!?disaster.Also it helps me personally and inspire me some different cultures,for example I love Last Samurai movie and I'm trying to have that self-disciplined and self- controlled not in extreme forms or very strict that u just have to or should do things like duty without any much almost happiness,but have those beautiful values like even being hardworking and just care about my well being at the end of the day.But also we as lovely and cute aspie people can be quite strong naturally,we tend take strengh from ourselves,as we are more introvertics,so we don't just look for outside sources and values of satisfaction and ego based and pretty short term stuff.
    Me personally I'm focusing on personal growth not just looking for satisfaction from lower needs -my needs are 5 level of Maslow needs,so being in 5D but trying to go into even 7D,but that's completely out of systems,being sometimes lonely in big crowd,deciding by myself,be brave for saying things not according to crowds like sheeps --etc.Is-- just I'm always saying -who actually going to Oxford Uni to study astrophysics or history of art or whatever cos u purely love that so fucking much!Not cos is prestigious,cos of money,cos of name,showing of ,cos parents told u or u will start looking at working class down,cos u better --now.No-- I can promiss everybody that people who study like that just for that love and passion are less than 10% or even less than 5% and they don't give a damn about anything else.Would u like to write a book or something your secret shy dream-go for it-withouth thinking that --much.How-- many will buy,how many fans u will have,u fail or u win in which way anyway-again cash,fame?Thats just projections and idealisations anyway just defence mechanisms,illusion all what we have is only now and then.Everything is already written in our destiny so much anyway,we just don't see those informations on time,(when quantum comps arrived they will helped in that way) especially on ego passage forget it,is like people are like automats,programmed through history,languages,manipulations.When I'm in 5d the difference is that I just watched that like a "film" in physics terms,my written destiny as well,but I get those informations a lot quicker through different forms- people,symbolism, numbers,detecting that through intuition-a lot quicker going into deduction processes and for example in alpha state of mind-my soul remember some stuff-deprogramming stuff,is catching my pure ENERGY vibration for example 547328905376554854...but growing into even 7D is coming to zero point clearing all that baggage-childchood,karmas,my family roots and all humanity through DNA that baggage-programming for 3d when in fact we are design all here at least for 5d .So coming to that pure zero point is like Home,coming to source, force whichever,that's why I hope that's my absolutely last reincarnation on this particular planet-going to self actualisation and out of ego completely so at least u get a bit for real one -free will, otherwise forget it.So far I get some insults or comments that maybe I activate a tiny bit of DNA given by Alliens to us,cos of my level of understanding reality,technology,compassion,loving peace soo much and experiencing telepathy stuff,contact with Universe,materialising on kinetic energy etc.I just laughed they can say whatever,they have free speech anyway.So that's why in summary I'm going to write here FOCUS ON THE JOURNEY NOT DESTINATION,only now and then,focus on that,no disappointments and u will be alive for real and it will set u free;)
    Last small touch quite big motivation for people is Love as we know,but I don't know how to explained exactly but between soul mates is more addictive passage, more dependency mechanisms which sometimes is not so good,but that for 3 D,being settled and comfy.Story of Twin Flames is like I don't know is soo much creativity going there,flowing like pretty endlessly,so much your mind becomes even more opened.Anyway is loads of explanations here as well.
    Ps I survived on music a lot as well and I think my sense of humour helped me. Thank u and take care everyone

      Not really, maybe I should do a video on that!

    Is it possible to not notice autism until middle school and then see it a lot? (Does that mean they where fine but then had to much?)

    Are professionals aloud to diagnose people with aspergers now?

      I think it’s only professional who are aloud to diagnose.

    Hey Dan, what happens to Randy, your Jack Russell terrier, when you go to these shows & I imagine your girlfriend works, so who looks after Randell?..

    • @TheAspieWorld

      Randy chills in the house as naomi is only in work until about 3:30 and I’m usual in all day other than random events and my parents look after Randy.

  • @AUnicorn666
    @AUnicorn666 6 років тому +1

    2 questions. One what do you do if there is a child with terrible handwriting (also who might have autism or dysgraphia (writing disability) sometimes there handwriting is unreadable, they usually don't write neatly because it hurts, they are a perfectionist sometimes and they twitch what do i do about that? And what would a undiagnosed child in school look like? (Please talk about all of the grade levels) (well the ones that are split up like primary school and stuff)

    • @TheAspieWorld
      @TheAspieWorld  6 років тому

      Undiagnosed looks no different to anyone else. And the hand writing thing isn’t a massive issue anymore thanks to computing.

    Hello The Aspie World
    I follow your channel for a while and would like to hear your opinion on my situation.
    I have the feeling that I have Asperger syndrome for a while. I get mixed reactions when I talk about it with people who are close to me, none of them find it amusing.
    I didn’t seek professional advice because I don’t want to know the truth but my suspicion is that I have the symptoms but they are related to my vision problems.
    Do you see any connection between the two?

  • @AUnicorn666
    @AUnicorn666 6 років тому +1

    I was wondering if you could make a video on how (Sense you have ADHD and ASD) how it effects you to have both and how one affects the other. Are there any opposites in the two? How does ADHD and ASD present itself differently then in kids with one or the other?

      Don't you mean you were _diagnosed_ at 16? - Because people are *born* with autism, they don't "get it" at a certain age..

  • @Leann01
    @Leann01 6 років тому +1

    I am currently getting tested for aspergers but as the new criteria DSM-5 (which I come under) they are not aloud to use aspergers it’s autistic spectrum disorder (asd) so I feel if I do have aspergers I think I will get diagnosed with ASD or high functioning autism (by the way I live in 🇬🇧 uk)
    What do you think? :)

    • @TheAspieWorld
      @TheAspieWorld  6 років тому

      It should be ASD an autism spectrum condition diagnosis.

    Hey Dan!
    Please can I have your advice?
    In my geography class I have to do a presentation. I will be doing it in-front of my class and afew teachers. I am really scared about talking and standing infront of people. I freeze and cant talk and it gets really stressful! What could I do?

    • @TheAspieWorld
      @TheAspieWorld  6 років тому

      Hmm 2 things, practice the presentation at home a few times to get used to it. Also before you go into the class do the super man pose, hands on hips chest out, feeling proud. This sends signals to the brain and builds confidence!

    • @kirab4036

      Also, know your subject so you don't have a mental block, and try not to talk too quickly, as that's usually what happens with nerves and presentations..

      You're welcome, and an 'old trick' people say about nervous presentations is to 'imagine the audience naked' and that is supposed to put the presenter at more ease..

    Today during school one of the adults gave me noise canceling headphones during a loud thing. I think my ASD has finnaly been noticed! My only problem is, I started to think what if i am faking it because i have done so much research? (It is one of my subjects which comes in handy) Any tips on what i should do?

    • @TheAspieWorld

      Relax. You cannot fake ASD as it’s a neurological disorder. Just be yourself.
