I play aggressive venting like it’s an unstable. I take nothing that helps with stopping overheat, and instead take the mods that either contribute to its buildup or give me more mobility when it goes boom. It’s always a thrill when I’m fending off a crowd of grunts and press reload to incinerate them all, making the scouts greatest weakness- close combat- into an outright barbecue
Running a mod called weapon heat crosshairs can help a LOT with playing thermal exhaust feedback (it basically shows you how much heat your weapon has accumulated right on the crosshairs, it's very nice). It's something I personally use all the time.
After using rewiring mode, i gotta say, this is the most ammo you can get without mods or cheat, it also makes tier2b worth it because you really dont need ammo, its so cool i cant stop using it
Rewiring mod lets you unleash the plasma carbine whenever you want with no consequences, you get an absurd amount of ammo and the game rewards you for shooting as much as possible. Awesome overclock
in my experience manual heat dump is kind of mid on aggressive venting because the aoe gets weaker when reloading early and the other tier 5 option makes it easier to overheat and do the aoe at max damge. also on rewiring mod with hot feet and manual heat dump allows you to run around super fast and makes kiting ridiculously easy and fun.
Aggressive venting is my main overclock for so many months, its so strong when you are getting surrounded, and I play it like I'm playing an unstable overclock, constantly overheating my weapon.
Rewire mod is so good in my opinion because it lets the scout shine in their skillse, single target damage and always being ready to save the team. In my head, the scout is meant to have an iron will and med kit perks for saving the game when everyone is down. A good scout also needs to mine, but never running out of ammo is super important. When your entire team is low on ammo and theres no nitra left, rewire mod makes sure that you never dip below 25% ammo, unless you're being stupid with it. You also need to take the drak perk that gives you a speed boost when you overheat, it makes the rewire op. With this set up, everytime you over heat you can kite enimies very easily with just your speed or the grappling hook, plus every time you overheat and switch to your secondary, born ready will usually activate so youre an endless stream of bullets. For my secondary I use the shotgun with the ammo oc since its the only oc i have for it right now, but running that with the drak ensures im locked and loaded for my team at all times. As a scout, ill never run out of ammo. I consider myself the last line of defense for winning the mission. WIth this setup, I lieterally only run out of granades or my shotgun. sometimes and I almost never lose, not trying to brag jsut being honest at how op the build is
The rewiring mod is basically the go to mod when you want to build your draks-25 toward a horde cleaner weapon. It is a really strong mod that requires both a specific build and some game knowledge to use it to it's full potential. Build wise, in order to make it properly work, you need to pair it with both the manual heat dump and the hot feet mod allowing you to be virtually untouchable for the horde thanks to the speed bonus you get. Game knowledge wise, one of the most crucial game mechanic you need to use when operating this weapon is the reload cancel animation which basically occur roughtly midway through the reload (or in this case heat) animation which will cut about half of the reload time. Another game mechanic you have to use is one provided through the manual heat dump which is defined as follow on the drg wiki : "Provides a significant reduction in the base overheat duration along with a second overheat reduction scaler based on the current Weapon Heat percentage. Thus, its much faster to dump the heat by manually overheating at
I feel like heat management for the final thing would be really good in the hands of a driller main because it turns it into a burst weapon like the drills
rewiring can get you a ton of amo like, an entire refining mission worth and then some. There are rules to follow however: 1 If you start shooting, you don't stop until you can overheat 2 The enemies are secondary to the objective(s) since you can overrun them with hot feet while dmg them(exception for spitters and the like) 3 KITE you also probably want to use the speed mod for the grapling hook for max speed
Honestly though, all of scout’s weapons are amazing. He probably has one of the best and most consistent weapon load outs in the game, and the drak is certainly the most underrated gun in his load out. It is INSANELY good with aggressive venting, but there really aren’t any bad overclocks for the drak either.
at first, the rewiring mod seemed convoluted to me but I think it's equivalent to the shard diffractor's automated beam controller, where you get more overall ammo at the cost of having to use an entire "magazine"'s worth every time you shoot. So it's less efficient on single small enemies, but more efficient on large crowds or tough enemies with enough health to shoot a whole "magazine" into
I slept on Shield Battery Booster for ages, but now it's one of my favorite Haz 4 builds. A smaller shield, max recharge, and Shield Link turn you into a glyphid killing machine.
Impact deflection makes the drak a perfect all around replacement for the assault rifle. You lose ammo efficiency in less accuracy and much slower projectiles (unless you mod against that), but you regain at least 3 fold the ammo efficiency with the bounce, using plasma splash.
The gun seems interesting but idk. I prefer the gk2 and m1000 over this. Pretty sure I'm using it wrong but I don't like how I unload a lot of bullets on enemies and they don't die as fast as when I use the other 2.
Honestly same. I don't like the drak as much as the other weapons. Just feels like a paintball gun. The only time I use this gun is with aggressive venting.
Personally I think it’s a good replacement for the GK2. The Drak can shoot for much longer than the rifle before overheating (especially if you manage heat well), essentially never needing to “reload” the thing. It will keep you shooting for as long as there are targets to shoot at, which may seem ammo inefficient, but that’s what your secondary weapons are for. Besides, if you use the electric upgrade, it can really surprise you with what it can kill with just a couple of shots.
It's pathetically weak, imo overtuned particle accelerator and shield battery booster are the only overclocks worth using, but honestly? For being what is essentially a sniper rifle, the m1000 also feels very weak. It chews through ammo like nobody's business even if you take the ammo increase, and a full magazine doesn't even kill a praetorian on higher hazards if I remember right.
I often use the plasma carabiner as a secondary, rather than a primary. Most of scout’s weapons have shamefully small ammo pools, meanwhile this bitch can give you up to 950 shots, and the fast rate of fire makes it great for clearing large groups of enemies which is something the scout really lacks tools to do, other than throwables
I like pairing impact deflection with plasma splash with NUK-17 embedded detonators and the IFG. Fire at the ground in front of weak points and the bugs absolutely melt. Ammo sustain is terrible but scout's ammo efficiency isn't very good to begin with and the burst DPS is insane, as well as perfect for quickly getting out of bad situations/killing very tough enemies. It gives a good balance of crowd control and single target damage without sacrificing mobility or requiring too much cognitive load, but isn't very good for solo play in the more prolonged missions. Best brought on point extractions and eliminations, one mag of embedded detonators usually takes out a full dreadnought phase, in an IFG field with conductive bullets one mag takes out an oppressor as well, very handy.
I really like this series and I think you we're the first drg content creator I ever watched. Can you maybe do the stubby next? It's my favourite engi weapon
I've tried basically every configuration possible for this gun and it's just meh. I'd rather just take the Deepcore with AI Stability Engine and Zhukov with Gas Recycling to shred armors. Shield Battery Booster is quite fun tho, trying your best to not take any damage at all so you get the dmg and rof boost.
The weapon heat crosshair mod is almost essential for TEF. That may be why you don't seem to like it all that much, with the mod you don't need to check elsewhere on your screen to see your heat status and can reliably burst fire it at around 90% heat. If you overheat you can always switch to your secondary, the nishanka with fire bolts + pheremones rounds the class out nicely and you can always switch to hitting something big with a pheromone bolt then a fire bolt if you overheat. With TEF I've came in second (to engineer) with regard to kill counts on Haz4 with the supposedly lowest DPS class. TEF is best overclock for Drak Drak is best gun for scout
The way i mained scout for the longest time was the ultimate spam build, carbine+zhukovs.....I wish I'd known about the disintegration of the carbine tho in terms of dealing with prartoreans, def feel silly for not knowing that or noticing it lol
YES! Finally a total details video with great examples and clips following. Hat off, thank u so much for wonderful video, your experience also kindness to drg community . Oh, btw, would u please do the same with the Scout's crossbow? I know it has alot of potential but still dont know how to handle it yet.
Yes this is good, but I’ll forever see the M1000 as the best scout weapon, secondary AND primary combined, being able to 1 shot most basic glyphids in the face, armored in 3, nothing I’ve tried can compete with M1000’s INSANE crowd control. And let’s not even talk about single target damage, dreadnought missions be M1000’s favorite mission, imo the no focus shot M1000 build is top tier, can dish out more dmg than the 0.5-2 seconds it takes to focus shot 😅 But I rlly want the drak to be better or as good, as since I started maining the “sniper”, I haven’t tried anything else and I rlly want to 😢
M1000 gets all the glory, but I much prefer this because I'm terrible with single shot sniping. This lets me kinda sorta snipe since it's more accurate than the assault.
