    There's something just visually "right" about 1/72, 1/76, HO/OO, 20MM or whatever you want to call it😂. I've been working on a First World War project with 1/72 plastics for years now and I love to paint in this scale. Your models look fantastic

      Cheers Joel! A lot of people that I've spoken with have said that. Having painted these, I can certainly see why. I'm really looking forward to having enough painted to get them on the tabletop 😃👍

    Lovely work. Particularly like your basing. I paint and game exclusively with 1/72 in a whole range of periods and think it strikes the perfect balance in terms of detail and allowing a decent amount of miniatures on the tabletop. There is a huge amount of choice of manufacturers (Revell, Italeri, PSC etc) and you can get literally every vehicle for ww2 (I think I nearly have now and it’s a dangerous path!)AB are the finest 20mm figures around - There British Paras are also amazing.
    I really enjoy the PCP podcast and it’s great to see one of you dive into this scale in a big way. Looking forward to seeing where you go next with it.

      Thanks Andrew! This scale has certainly allowed me to look at some more interesting themed bases. I definitely agree about that balance in scale. I think 20mm on a 6x4 table is going to look pretty realistic distance wise. I was really struck by how many manufacturers there are out there and the sheer amount of stuff available! Really glad you enjoy the PCP, there's going to be more 20mm content on there and on my channel 😃👍

    If you go with Chain of Command (which would be a great choice) then you should buy the two "Pint Sized Campaigns" for the British in Normandy - Operation Martlet and The Scottish Corridor. Each campaign book (£5.50 for the PDF) gives you an excellent little history of the operation, and a small ladder campaign - but most importantly each give you a list of troops you need to play - a standard British platoon from June 44 and the appropriate support options (versus a weakened German platoon plus supports - if you like those British try painting the Germans in zeltbahn). This gives you a list of things to paint towards - there's quite a lot of vehicles if you get everything, which makes you appreciate that the PSC 20mm kits give significant savings over 28mm kits.
    If you want an "introductory" pint sized campaign I'd suggest "29 Let's Go" which features the Americans in Normandy attempting to link their beaches together - the figure and vehicle count is rather less intimidating (and frankly the Yanks paint super fast compared to the Brits and Germans).

    • @OnPointHQ
      @OnPointHQ  9 місяців тому

      That's some great advice, thank you! Chain of Command is a game that I've been telling myself that I'd start playing but for one reason or another, have not.
      I've watched countless Chain of Command battle reports etc so I'm quite familiar with it, just never got round to playing so I'll be sure to keep this information in mind going forward 😃👍

    The 20mm community needed this video. It’s a great scale that the industry is moving further away from. 3D printing has really made a way for 20mm to get some much needed attention. Keep the 20mm stuff coming and I’ll do the same on my channel 😁

      With my normal scale of 28mm, I always try and drill out barrels and muzzles where I can as it certainly accentuates the overall aesthetic presentation, lending itself to a more realistic and accurate mien in line with the rest of the project. As I'd never worked at a 20mm scale before, I decided a more prudent and pragmatic approach would be to keep the aesthetic to more representation and abstraction rather than strictly accurate.
