Hello from the Philippines, I had an M43 turbo in the past and made around 160rwhhp and it was fun but it failed when a freak rainstorm destroyed my ECU and it never run reliably. Now I have an S52 swap with a supercharger.

I did cheat and I bought a manifold (Ali express, sweet m50 ones, gate at the front, perfect for RHD) but the rest I welded up, it’s ready for a tune. Anyways enough about me, look forward to some compact footage, and ofcourse your old trusty… it’s like a chameleon your e36.. changing every year.. good though! 👌
Thanks for sharing this. I going do this kind of build on my 316 touring e30. Its nice to see that maf can be tuned to idle 270cc injectors. Do you remember what was afr at idle? I think i go for those 270 injectors and 1 extra ev14 374injector between maf/throlte body. Using hobbs switch to active it on boost to get that +-200bhp range.
Please do a video going over the diff setup, very surprised how the 318 handled the power/skids 🤙🏽 makes me want to turbo mine before throwing the m52 I’m rebuilding 😁

That's so cool! I so often see guys put on like a Ecumaster DET 3 piggyback ECU, but what you did with keeping the stock ECU it's soo good! Am I getting it right, like you leave everything stock and tune the lambda with fuel pressure/injector size? Nothing done to ignition all stock ECU?

(already chopping up an exhaust to make J pipe! collected turbo, afr gauge, intercooler and few other bits already too ITS HAPPENING lmao)
Thanks bro! Nah no need for blow off valve. They're a myth haha. Compressor surge sounds way better anyways. A BOV will help on a daily car over many years of driving but not at all necessary on a track car etc.

have you mentioned, that there is a mid range where car is runing 19 AFR with 10 psi boost? :) I have vag 320's for my built so will try it for sure, but just with stock FPR. Will be there some movie from skids in this car at matsuri?
Nah that was a problem with the dyno wideband, it was playing up in a few of the runs. We would never run it through a pass with 19 afr 🤣🤣. Yep we’ll be filming skids at matsuri!

I need to fabricate some adaptors because the ford injectors are way to small to fit the ports in manifold just look at stock injectors side by side with ford ones unless we have some random manifold on our e46

M42b18 (1994) i have done all the mechanical part. Im driving it with stock.ecu stock injectors and an fuel presure regulator. I dont know.anything about tuning it. So tell me what to do. I heard you saying playing with afm but u dint show it. Im runing on low bost like.0.3 0.4 bar for the moment. Tell me what to do.with that afm. I havent touched the oem fuel regulator i.just aded another one adjustable. And if i rember i set it at 3.2 bar on idle. Help me with this because no one in my country works with this cars

Right?! And that’s on stock ecu too. With a standalone ecu and arp head studs it would do 220hp without an issue 😈

I managed to get 243hp out of my 1.6, but I changed the intake manifold to a 1.8 from Audi and slightly modified the speeduino controller.

gt35 82R on 8psi should put you at 300hp tuned

Everything stock and works perfectly at this power level. Upgrade clutch and you’ll be fine
what's the stock N/A power figure on the dyno?. BMW said 75kW for B16 but the number would be different on each dyno
75kw is crank power, not power at the wheels. Jordan dyno’d his other m43 and it was 55kw at the wheels 🤣. So 130kw is a massive increase!

These engines have very mild timing from factory. We have 98 fuel. This thing is super happy. No knock or detonation at all.
