In New Zealand we have DE class locomotives. Very similar design except 660 hp from a later model of the same engine and 2 two axle bogies with 4 traction motors. Inside the cab practically the same.
Aperture Science Probably around 10; these are smaller, less powerful locomotives that don't have a giant overkill engine like the American diesels, which are mostly engine
Got to drive one of these when working for BR. Noisy, shaky but does the job.

I wonder how many of these shunter it will take to pull Union Pacific's Big Boys

Maybe a bit more than 10
How strong is a class 08 in terms of what it can pull or push?
The BR Class 08 has a power of almost 300 HP or 200KW.
Very low gearing, so several hundred tons at least.
How many cylinders are in the engine?
6 cylinder engine. Each cylinder displaces around 15.5 litres so total capacity around 93 litres.
As a you boy my oldest brother was head shunter on newport Dock so I sat meany a happy time riding in the cab 😊
Look very like tram controllers.
i wanna do a bird in it give her 21 inchs of vacuum
*riding Frankie the diesel shunter be like*
Very slow old loco
25 mph max.
It's a shunting locomotive, so a huge tractive effort from very low gearing is more important than speed.
Does the job. 14 heavy Mk 1 coaches no problem!
and beautiful
What a hellish jumpy camera man.
Well of course your in a rocking locomotive
@@genericclass4058 look at other shunter posts and learn.
@@genericclass4058 it's not the loco movement, it's you swinging the camera about too much. Take time and be steady. Look at other posts and learn.
@@billalbion Do you have any idea how bumpy an 08 cab is? lmao He did a fine job
