I have boiled my kitchen towels occasionally, but I will definitely try your tips and boil longer and get them done right. My biggest complaint is that they do not absorb anymore! And in my opinion, it doesn’t help at all to toss them because the new ones don’t absorb liquids either! So I like your plan much better!
We do our best to get full use out of our things also. I’ve stripped all our bath towels and kitchen towels in the bathtub with laundry detergent, borax and washing soda + the hottest water I could get. The water was so gross, even though they were all “clean” when I started. Last time I worked a little smarter and used the shower and a huge tub much closer to our washing machine to make it easier on myself. It’s lovely to use towels that feel and smell fresh again and feels so satisfying to extend the life of stuff we already own.
I want you to know you look beautiful! You really are you have a beautiful smile and bouncy soft hair, but most importantly your beautiful spirit comes through in every video. Thank you for the reminder. We use hand ( tea) towels instead of paper towels and white wash clothes instead of napkins and for tidying up. That's what I need to do laundry stripping on is the white washcloths.
I have thought about this comment for a long time. I didn't really grow up feeling like anyone thought I was beautiful so sometimes hearing it from other people makes me feel uncomfortable (in a good way). Even though you said this many months ago it has truly helped me to have a more positive view on my appearance. I hope you are having a great day xx
I'm going to do this with my kitchen towels. Mine are old too & I mean at least 10 yrs. I saw a noticeable different in your towels. Thank you for inspiring me to do the same.
My friend sent me photos of her doing this in New Zealand so with the three of us we are covering a large geographical area. Her water was super brown as well! Good luck and let me know how you go. P.s thanks for watching. I appreciate it ❤️
Well, i know what I'm doing this weekend! 😊 i use flour sack towels that I've had for years, and they're just gross. Plus, i just got my clotheslines hung, so they'll get a good sunbleaching! ❤
Wow, that seemed to work great but what a lot of work. I usually just soak them in the sink with hot water and a little bleach and then run them through the wash. For colored cloths you can use bleach for unbleachables (hydrogen peroxide). Both will get the smell out, kill germs, and whiten. Just a bit less work and can be done more often.
I think it’s mostly that I don’t know how to use it. Like do I put clothes in the washing machine and add bleach to the little pull out tray that the laundry liquid goes into? So bleach AND laundry detergent? Or a pot with hot water and bleach?
Hi Katherine - Yes, bleach and detergent. For just a few things I just soak in the kitchen sink with hot water and bleach for an hour or so and then throw in the wash. Larger loads I will do in the washer with bleach and detergent. My washer has a bleach dispenser (top load) but if yours doesn't then you'll have to put it in with the water. Not sure what you would do with a front load - maybe powdered bleach in a dispenser? Bleach whites only as it will remove the color. For colours you can use bleach for unbleachables (hydrogen peroxide). Doesn't remove colours but does get the stink out. @@inspiringsimple
Mine are already nasty again haha! I have gotten a bunch of different tips in the comments on this video so I am going to try the 'boil eggs first' method and see how clean my towels come out.
You don't need to boil for one hour actually Don't need to wash them first I use the water after I boiled my eggs, to dip tea towels in a pail, with dish soap + baking soda + sodium percarbonate if you have it That way you can wash with hot water often Works wonder, even for pee odor on door mats

That was so cool.
Great tip Catherine!
It’s hard to believe what sits in our towels/clothing.
I’m convinced that detergents and softeners leave a lasting residue
I looked at some towels today and thought I need to strip them soon. I hope you are doing well.
I do this old school with a gas ring and cajun cooker outdoors! Totally granny style with a wooden paddle.

I'm in south-central Texas, and I call them 'cup towels' ... I'll have to give this a shot
That's fascinating to me. I love how people call things by different names.
That was a great demo - and you showed it works. Time for me to do the same!

I have some towels to do but have been procrastinating 🤣
Thank you for this video. I am stripping my towels as I type!😊
Excellent. I need to do some more soon. I’m always shocked by what comes out.
Thank you! New subbie here. Take care
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Have a great day.

I don’t use bleach. It’s not really a commonly used thing here.
Oh, bleach is very common here in Canada. We also call them tea towels. At least in my family did we did.

Hi Katherine, could you please let us know where you can get bi Carb in bulk?
I need to do this with my tea towels and dish cloths. 🤢 some of my dish towels are awful!

Thanks so much for sharing this! I will definitely try this! I hate wasting water so boiling eggs sounds like a brilliant idea!
