Hi guys! Are you thinking about moving to Switzerland? Do you maybe already live here and would like to share your experience? Let us know down below in the comments. We would love to read you. Best regards!
My mother, 76 and her partner, 83, are very healthy, very active outdoorsy people with excellent retirement benefits and savings. They say they want to move to Switzerland to get away from the deterioration of their home country. Would they be allowed to emigrate to Switzerland at their age? I have told them I think they would not be allowed in at their elderly age but I cannot find any restriction re: age listed anywhere. Do you know? Thanks!
Zurich is a beautiful city indeed. However, if you don't have a good job, living here is impossible. Unless you have a partner. Also, Swiss culture is very 'special', which is why many ex-pats feel lonely after some years. It's not easy to integrate with Swiss people.
Hello Ores77, thank you very much for your comment. We appreciate the honesty of your comment and it feels very authentic! We can understand what you mean. Thank you very much for sharing this insightful information with us. Have a wonderful weekend! Best Jan and Claudia
Isn't that the case in about any place you live as an ex-pat? Moving from the home country to another country usually has an economic reason. Unless you are a refugee, you cannot expect that your guest country and its citizens will feel obliged to make you feel at home. You picked the place - it's up to you to make it work or else - return.

@@BernhardSchwarz-xs8kp I spent my vacations 6 times at the same place in Quebec, Canada. I made friends among the locals. And after 4 times, some people were willing to help me find a house over there right away, without even asking them but just by saying that it was my dream in the future to live there. So NO, it is not the case in about any place. Even some Swiss Romands moved to Zurich and then moved back to Romandie after a few months because they could not stand it anymore.
Ich bin Italiener, aber ich habe viele Jahre in Griechenland gelebt (ich war 7 Jahre alt, als ich dorthin zog, und bin jetzt 23), und eines Tages wollte ich mein Leben ändern und nach Zürich gehen. I watched some of your previous videos. You were working in some very difficult "lighting" conditions for the videographer. Thank you for a masterpiece from the beautiful city of Zurich.
Hey Claudia & Jan! Hey I'm Paige, a fellow UA-camr here who is moving to Zurich in August! Just wanted to say thank you kindly for your videos, they've been fabulous to watch and build the excitement for the move, and you two are adorable to watch on screen together! Hi. Thank you very much for your kind comment. We hope you can visit Zurich again soon!! P.D: moving to Switzerland is hard, but not impossible! So if you really want to come here, don’t feel discouraged 😊 Best regards!!
Switzerland has been challenging for me due to perceived racism. Despite validating my degree and learning the language, I've faced difficulties in integration. It's disheartening to observe preferential treatment for individuals from Germany and other regions. I hope for a more inclusive environment. I’m talking about medical society! If you are black , Latin or have a different cultural background you may face some uncontrollable situations . God bless 🇺🇸!

zurich is on my top3 list cities of the world, still there is the mentality issue, such that they are often too closed. So there are still better places in the world, but if you like to be own our own, for yourself, zurich is great and I guess, as for any places, to keep this in mind, it attracts like-minded people. people who are in a way sensitive, shy, with-drawn and look for a safe place to live, who are unstable on the inside which you can often see in their eyes.
I live in zhe french part of Switzerland and i can tell you that the people here are more open-minded than the swiss german people. Zurich is absolutely not representative of Switzerland people there just mind their own business and are very cold.

Hi Guys! We recently (3months) moved to Spain from India... I also have an offer in swiss ( internal transfer) now. What would you suggest to us? Spain or Swiss ...Since you are Spanish I do love to hear from you.
Hi. Many thanks for your comment. It truly depends on your priorities and lifestyle. In Spain you will have amazing food, great weather and super friendly people, but salary wise, Switzerland is almost unbeatable by European countries. In Switzerland you will have breathtaking landscapes and amazing career opportunities, but people can be very focused on work, what can make it harder to make good friends. Every place offers very good chances to have a bright life. We recommend you to read about each country, and chose the one that best fits you and your life’s vision. You can always move again!! Best regards and best of luck!!

You guys are always shooting the cliche gentrified tourist spots in Zurich... it gives the wrong impression, most of Zurich is not like that, and certainly most people cannot afford to live in the oldtown... how about shooting interviews in more diverse areas like Kreis 4, Uni Zurich, Oerlikon, Dietikon.. etc.. where people can actually afford to live?
You should ask Swiss citizens who have build up this country over many generations with their work and taxes if they like getting expropriated by the influx of people who might be nice but who don’t bring their fair share to the table as it should be. They just come to profit from our infrastructure and other amenities without contribution to the stock.

0:58 the work life balance?!
Hi Claudia and Jan, nice video. May I ask if, cities in Switzerland have a special needs school ? Thank you and more power to your channel🌺
if they are not happy in Zürich I imagined people in Bangladesh working 13 hour a days for 2 dollar a day
What’s the difference between expat and immigrant?
Of course people are not goig to be the same as in your country. That’s an obvious thing.
Do they speak Swiss German more than hi German on the street.which one
Thank you for your comment! We are happy that you find our videos interesting 😃
You guys are always shooting the cliche gentrified tourist spots in Zurich... it gives the wrong impression, most of Zurich is not like that, and certainly most people cannot afford to live in the oldtown... how about shooting interviews in more diverse areas like Kreis 4, Uni Zurich, Oerlikon, Dietikon.. etc.. where people can actually afford to live?
you mean immigrants?
Yes. Expats is a synonym for immigrants 😊
Pls NO background music on the videos!
European internationals not the same as Americans,
Zurich imigrants*
You should ask Swiss citizens who have build up this country over many generations with their work and taxes if they like getting expropriated by the influx of people who might be nice but who don’t bring their fair share to the table as it should be. They just come to profit from our infrastructure and other amenities without contribution to the stock.
😂😂😂.It’s called taxes that get paid by them to the canton.
