- New Bike Day for my daughters! My wife and I just bought them the Riprock 24 and the Riprock 20, made by Specialized, so they can go trail riding with me.
These kids mountain bikes are more than capable to handle all of our local trails. I am super excited to get out there and ride with them.

I'm 5'4 adult guy and I bought a 24 MTB for my everyday ride. I'm not comfortable with larger MTBs. I just love riding a not too small, not too big MTBs
Absolutely love this
I won’t be able to keep up with them soon!
Way to go getting the kiddos into mountain biking! I wish I would’ve started when I was a kid!
Hey! We are still kids at heart 😂
That is the truth! Ride on!
We are getting the Riprock 20 with shocks Wednesday! Thanks for the video 🎉
Great review, just picked up a used one for my son
It is a great bike!
@@MichianaMadman Yes it is. I upgraded to hydraulic brakes and thumb shifter and installed matching new pedal and grips 🙂
Awesome!!!!
Not sure I’m ready to let them ramp me like your little one is doing 😂
Great mini-review of the Riprock! I'm looking into upgrading the 16" bike of my little one with the 20" Riprock and any real-life information is very helpful! I have a question though - have you measured what is the exact weight of the 20" Riprock? I cannot find this information anywhere.
Sorry for the late reply.
I took my bathroom scale out to the garage and weighed myself, then again while holding the bike.
The difference was 27.4 lbs or 12.4 kg.
@@MichianaMadman Thanks for all that effort you went thought! I have encountered that 12+ kg number somewhere without any hard evidence of it being correct. But now I know for sure. Looks like that's one hefty bike :) Thank you a lot for the information! Now I have what to consider when choosing the right option.
I was surprised that the bikes were as heavy as the scale said!
I am glad to have been a help.
Great experience! Would like to ask, how comfortable are these bikes on the asphalt roads? My 6 years old son likes off-road riding in the forest but also rides on bicycle paths and even on the asphalt pump track. I’m worrying that it won’t fit use cases.
My kids actually use these bikes to ride around town more than they do on the trails.
How tall is/was your older daughter when you filmed that video? Deciding between 20 or 24 for my 7.5 yo 49 inches tall daughter
Sorry for the late response. She was probably around 50 inches tall.
Love it. This is my dream for my family! I'm looking to upgrade our children's two 16" kids bikes to either 20 and 24" or both 24". Ideally I was hoping to get them both on 24" bikes and skip the 20 (saves some $), but I think my 6y/o might struggle to fit the 24". In your experience, would the younger of your two children be able to ride the 24" easily?
No, I had to lower the seat pretty low on the 20” for her to feel confident.
@@MichianaMadman sound advice. We purchased a secondhand 24" for our eldest and it fits them great. My 6y/o def did not fit the 24" so we're on the hunt for a 20" for them
I hope you find one! I’ve been having a blast riding with the kids
Hey! I had the same question, I found both a 24 and a 20 second hand and I have a 6yo daughter. She's 117cm (approx 3.8 foot). How tall was you daughter when she got on the 20? Specialized say their 24 model fits between 114 and 142cm but I'm really doubtful. Thanks! 👍🏻😉
My 6y.o. is at 119cm. I have the seat post in a lower position on the 20 inch. Fits perfect.
She can’t fit on the 24 with the seat post at the lowest position. So I would go with the 20.
The retailer on the 20 is almost on the ground. You have any issues on the trail with it getting hit
We haven’t had any issues over the years.
At what age do you think your younger daughter would need to upgrade? My granddaughter is 8 and wondering if the 20" would be too small.
I think my youngest will have to upgrade at 8. Both of my girls are tall for their age so I feel like they may be upgrading earlier than their peers would.
@@MichianaMadman thank you. My granddaughter is also tall for her age but the 24” might be too much right now. Appreciate it!
Come back and let us know how it worked out!
Hold old was your kiddo on the riprock 24
She was 8 when this was filmed. She has always been tall for her age.
Bendix Woods?
Definitely a much better place to take a child or beginner.
My oldest has done some longer trails since this video but not my youngest.
I plan on taking her to Bendix Woods in 2022 to help her learn how to trail ride.
@@MichianaMadman I didn't have a mtb when I lived there but I often thought it would be a great place to ride with kids.
You are right. There is so many chances to exit the trail and take the road back to the trailhead/car that it should’ve been my first stop 😂
I know you're a great dad but you shouldn't buy a very expensive bike just for your kids
The money has been well worth it!
Both of my girls are still using the bikes, though they are outgrowing the frames.
My oldest will need a new bike but then my younger kids can move up into these bikes.
