Totally understandable that this version is not on the regular CD .... when you want to get rid of the prog tag and carefully craft and choose a new concept and direction for this album, than you don't put a 20 minute epic on the main CD. I applaud Steven for the way he's promoting this album, the whole concept, the videos, the TFB sesssions, The Box Set - it's just another level altogether. Forget about the complainers, if any, There's so much to enjoy for everybody, old and new fans - I wish this album will shoot SW to another galaxy of possibilities and success. So much respect!
I'm glad the Deluxe edition has enough great "remixes" to create what I feel is the true experience of The Future Bites. The regular edition feels like an abridged cut to me.

This is probably the only track on the album that deserves one of these extended remixes, in my opinion. The rest are very obviously 3-4 minute tracks that have been needlessly stretched. Love the album though. Glad to see the old geezer experimenting and having some fun.
The whole "limited edition" thing that he does with all of his albums, gets to me for this reason. It's the only way to get these songs. Never reissued either. In this case, the bonus songs make this album feel more complete and satisfying. The extended versions are, IMO, better than the regular ones. I just don't have $100+ to spend like people seem to do so easily these days.
Well, I spent those bucks and now I can complain it is available for free on youtube, where's the justice in that :-) Well, probably my fault to support my favorite artist in the times when everything gets to Internet sooner or later :-)

What's funny, ironic or hypocritical is that Elton would/has purchased all the things he lists - he's actually produced a few of them too. Did he know what he was doing when he recorded those parts? Not sure I like the extended version any better than the original which, imho, is not Steven Wilson's best work although the last couple of minutes were worthy of him.
It appears the law of diminishing returns does not apply to SW product... Nile Rodgers, Biffy Cliro, SW himself, an albums worth of personal shopper remixes would be a distinct possibility, and a very worthwhile one at the same time...a Frank Sinatra version would be interesting, as would a Motorhead one...you can see the endless possibilities just ripe for the picking...

In all fairness, it's getting great reception from critics and is performing well on the charts. I know it's radically different from everything he's done before, but do you really think the guy wanted to make Deadwing or Hand Cannot for a second time? Is he not allowed to at the very least try to make something original? He's 53 years old and has been making music since the 80's. I'd say he's contributed more than enough to try whatever he likes at this point. I'm sorry you aren't pleased with the new stuff, but I'm willing to bet he still has future tracks that you'll like. That's the fun thing about art and the people who create it.

As far as original, this album is not that at all dude, the lyrics are complete shite, tired and hackneyed, and the synth driven stuff was done better by a million bands he clearly has been influenced by, like Depeche, TFF, Ultravox, John Foxx, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Plaid, Aphex and a host of Warp artists. Sure there are some cool synth textures going on here and there, but songs like King Ghost, Eminent Sleaze are laughably bad lyrically and Jesus give the fucking falsetto a rest dude, we get that you dont have a world class top notch voice, but layering falsetto multi part harmonies is really over the top. Cool, you dig it but its worse than To The Bone, which was marginally crap as well... as for the critics, they ALL kiss ass dude, its how they get after show passes and get to hob nob with artists these days, hell most critics arent even full time critics as career professionals these days... that means zero to me to be honest. Again, you like it, cool glad ypundo, for me its complete pass, but SW could care less what I think anymore (I used to work very closely with PT/SW/management in their heyday) which is fine, i own my opinion, but I am very much entitled to it.
