    *Correction 1* - The Brazil Collection is 3 x 300g bags of coffee, not 500g
    *Correction 2* - Price per shopping region changes frequently and often sales are available, therefore please check Ikawa's website for the latest price.
    *Correction 3* - The freestyle control is not free of charge with the app.

      I bought this one too. And I got upset about their apps. Why do they limited us to edit the profile. This is kind of crazy

      @@lung21 do you mean the temp range is limited?

      @@jpjay1584 I am not talking about temp range, I am talking about they do not allow us to modify the profile except you pay 30 dollars per month. This is how the new version works

    Ikawa is a borrow from my mother tongue - kinyarwanda ( I hope you roast arabica as well).

    Great video. Just wondering though, was that a thousand three hundred U.S. Dollars for the whole thing or eight thousand three hundred?

    Great video I have a question the type of coffee I like the most is expresso with the app which is free is Thare a selection of expresso roast programs or are they mostly filter and can you change the roasts times on the app to make them darker or is that the more advanced app that you have to pay for I hope this question makes sense,, so basically I'm trying to say is this roster suited to an expresso drinking person with the basic free app that comes with the machine any info would be greatly appreciated

      Hey, glad you enjoyed the video and yes you do need the pro version of the app for the added features, but the basic one does have two roast profile for each coffee, either filter or expresso.

    Can you hear the beans cracking with the Ikawa? I am highly considering getting one.

      First crack you can hear pretty well, yes. I might be selling mine in Toronto if you're looking for one.

    Can you roast manually and mark yellowing and first crack to save for next time?

    • @BensCoffeeRants
      @BensCoffeeRants Рік тому

      No real (full) manual control unless you're using the older Android version of the app, with iPhone you gotta pay a subscription fee, for more control which is ridiculous when you already paid for an expensive roaster.
      No Feature to auto detect or feature to mark your FC and other events, I do that manually in a notepad. It usually gives you a FC estimate time which let's say at 5 mins but I found for me it usually comes like 30-45 seconds after that.

    It really needs a min capacity of 200g to be practical at home

      That's not true. You can just roast multiple batches. It takes 10 minutes anyways.

    Can you roast your own coffee that is not from ikawa and have full control in it? Or that’s only limited to pro versions?

    • @BensCoffeeRants
      @BensCoffeeRants Рік тому

      You can roast non ikawa coffee but they only make profiles for THEIR overpriced coffees, so not ideal, but you can always use something similar, or their default profile, which does work well generally.

    It looked like some of the beans ended up in the chaff collector.

      Hello Wiliam P, yes when the machine goes into cooling mode some of the beans that are hallow might end up in the chaff collector which is a good thing as you'll be left with only optimal bean quality.

    I guess you should preheat it first

    • @ReviewDetective
      @ReviewDetective  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, there's no need to preheat the machine as per Ikawa's instructions.

    • @BensCoffeeRants
      @BensCoffeeRants Рік тому +1

      According to someone's testing I've seen it does improve slightly in temperature consistency once it's pre-heated but it doesn't require preheating, the (much more expensive) pro version does have an auto pre-heating feature but the workflow on the home version doesn't really allow you to easily do a pre-heat.

    100 grams is welcome but I still don't see the appeal of ikawa considering its price. Doesn't really bring something exciting tech in terms of roasting say compared to kaffelogic, fresh roast Bullet etc, even 350g Chinese roasters with artisan could be as good and repeatable. Why pay more for more inconvenience?

      I have the Wake Up from Taiwan, 250g, $900, popcorn style.
      the problem is overshooting temps and not accurate fanspeed-handling
