The joke of the blood moon not being in place is actually a pretty funny joke, in movies its always sun or moon being perfectly placed for the dramatic effect😂
I'm glad you enjoyed this. The main problem most people have is that Po retiring and Zhen getting the title goes against Oogway's vision. Plus Chameleon's villain motive makes no sense when you remember Mantis exists, and the film's theme of change feels half baked. But if you like it for what it is, that's perfectly fine. People should respect your opinions.
the chameleon being called small really wasn't the main reason, she was giving a few examples of many insults she was called, for example she said they thought she was worthless and no value (lowly) and and kung fu was not her destiny. not only that but she was denied from every training hall.
@@terramoto309 kai never had any beef with po, he just wanted everyone's chi so he could take his revenge on OOGWAY and also his spiritual essence was probably still intact and thats how he returned. shen finally found peace in the spirit realm like all the other spirits, he also accepted his fate at the end of 2.
People still use that bullshit motive problem. Literally throughout the series people were disgraced from Kung Fu because of their looks. Po was looked down upon by his fat, Viper with no fangs, and Cranes skinny legs. We don't even know if Mantis had a master before Shifu. Hell Mantis still had people make short jokes after becoming a member of the 5.
I love that this movie is trying to teach us about leaving your comfort zone and try to do new things, Po could be a warrior for his rest of his life but he can do lot more than a warrior he could become a master, Master Po or even more like the legendary master Po 🐐 🔥
Which is a tragic lesson because it kept ripping off of previous movies. The old characters brought back felt more like cameos than actually giving them some arcs
This movie, when they announced it, I too was a bit skeptical of how it will turn out since I’m pretty sure that the trilogy made Po come full circle. However, after giving it a shot, I was actually impressed how they pulled it off. The animation is more crisp than before, the antagonist was a interesting character and the story was not too shabby. The few things that satisfied me the most was Tai Lung’s return after so long and Hans Zimmer returning for the score. The fact that you guys caught the “Crazy Train” vibes from the chase sequence was very surprising because I sure as hell didn’t catch that the first time until some time later. When you also mentioned about adding to your playlist, I did that, as well. Perfect music to go with it. Till next time.
They mentioned in an interview that a spin-off film focusing on the furious five is in the planning stage. Maybe it will come out before the fifth movie. In general I liked the fourth film, it is true that they could have implemented more things (They did not do it because of Mike Mitchell who preferred not to take into account the suggestions of the Co-Director who wanted to give a more serious touch to the film at the level of the second), even so I feel that it is a good message to be open to changes and that changing something does not always mean that it is wrong.
I think what makes me sad is there was potential, but it was wasted. Reasons I didn’t love this movie: 1. The Chameleon is a bad villain. Tai Lung and Shen were intimidating, and Kai, though the least interesting of the original trilogy, still left a big impression and was pretty funny. The only thing I remember about the Chameleon is her dumb motivation. “Too small for Kung fu”? When Mantis and Viper exist? 2. Tai Lung’s “redemption” made no sense. Why would he just respect Po after seeing him in this one fight? He was essentially there for fan service. And it frankly wasn’t very good fan service. 3. The humor is just so juvenile now. I get it “kids’ movie”, but some of the jokes were very clever in the original trilogy. 4. I understand that the lesson here was “Change is naturally the next step and you should embrace it”. I just feel the way it was executed didn’t have such a heavy impact as previous films. 5. I don’t like Zhen. Nothing against Awkwafina, I just don’t like her character. The Madagascar series is really fun. You guys should watch it.
Yo, the other films were funny and all, but they ALL have an equal amount of "juvenile" jokes. I guarantee you, if the first film came out today, y'all say stuff like Po sitting on Tai Lung was "c r i n g e, waaaah!"
I agree. Everything was so surface level. The writing was bad. Awkwafina's quips/improv never landed for me, the theme of change was very forced and didn't make sense, Po's got at least a decade of Dragon Warrior left in him, and... yeah. Wasted potential and bland writing. It made me sad.
kung fu panda 4 is a masterpiece, and people who can’t see that have clearly gone blind from overexposure to pure awesomeness all of the movies have a recurring plot where po’s experience, training, and failures pay off, which happens once again in this film. the theme of the movie is what po told zhen, “it’s never too late to do the right thing.” it applied not only to zhen and tai lung, but also to po it started with the same formula of shifu telling po he has to step out of his comfort zone and learn something new to better himself, but just like po, the movie changes. po has advanced in kung fu, inner peace, and chi faster than anyone, even oogway himself. shifu wanted po to be like oogway, but po didn’t want to change. but on his journey he took his own advice and decided to do the right thing and choose a new dragon warrior. and he had amazing character growth along the way oogway could have defeated tai lung at any time. but instead, he let po, his successor, defeat tai lung. in kung fu panda 4, we find out po could’ve beaten the chameleon any time with the staff, but instead, he let zhen, his successor, defeat her (or at least get a good hit in) but after po revealed he could’ve broken out and beaten her himself, he gets the final blow and returns the kung fu to all of the masters she stole it from. this movie was po’s movie, he got more time to shine and prove that he was a more than worthy successor of oogway. like i said, shifu wanted po to be like oogway, but po didn’t want to change. in the first kung fu panda, shifu was mad about oogway’s pick for the dragon warrior because nothing about him said dragon or warrior. po’s pick as the next dragon warrior had the same affect on shifu. like oogway says, “one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.” po went on an adventure with zhen so he wouldn’t have to pick a new dragon warrior, yet on this adventure he realized that zhen was destined to be his successor and the next dragon warrior as for the lesson that po taught zhen, it went perfectly with the theme of this film. people can change. po changed, zhen changed, the villain changed a lot, and even tai lung changed. this is one of my favorite plots from the entire franchise. po of all people would know it’s never too late to change, because in the first movie, he was a nobody. he even told shifu “every time you threw a brick at my head, or said i smelled, it hurt, but it could never hurt more than it did every day of my life just being me.” po thought it was too late for him to change, so he tried to escape the jade palace explaining why he stayed, “i thought if anyone could change me, could make me not me, it was you.” and shifu was able to change him and even put him on the path to being equal to oogway. this is not how it was for chameleon, who i thought was a great villain. hear me out, chameleon is basically the reverse of po, people thought po was too large to do kung fu even though he wasn’t, and people thought chameleon was too small to do kung fu even though she wasn’t despite being beaten and rejected so many times, po pushed through and became a legendary kung fu master, while the chameleon took rejection too personal and went on a rampage because of it because she most likely didn’t have someone like oogway to inspire her po is all about being himself and doing his own thing, which was made very clear in the first movie. but the chameleon is all about being jealous of others and doing other people’s things. tai lung, lord shen, and kai all committed genocide, but not chameleon the worst thing chameleon did was push someone down the stairs, which wasn’t meant to show us what she could do, it was meant to show us what she couldn’t do and what she was willing to do to be able to do what she wish she could do. she had no talent in kung fu, so she would do anything to make her way to the top she knew what po was capable of, and he was the final test of her strength after she stole the kung fu from all the other masters she gave po the staff that way she could fight the dragon warrior at his best. which is why she called it “a final face off between formidable adversaries alike in so many ways.” there, in the final battle is where they showed us what she could do. she’s like no other villain the first villain was a student, and the villain of his teacher, shifu’s past, the second villain was the villain of po’s past, and the third villain was the villain of oogway’s past. but this time, the villain was the teacher rather the student, and the villain of zhen’s past. speaking of zhen, her dynamic with po was one of the best parts of the movie. her redemption arc was conspicuous yet satisfying, as it brought po’s wisdom from kung fu panda 2 to life. her and po seem incompatible since she’s a thief, yet they make a great duo, and zhen makes a great successor the “dragon warrior” title is an idea of taking nothing and making something out of it. like how shifu made a great warrior out of po and po made a great inspiration out of a blank page. zhen was nothing before she met po because she was a thief and a lying traitor. zhen was raised by an evil villain and betrayed everyone who loved her, yet po was so pure of heart that his kindness helped her get on the right path, and genuinely made her care about po. before this, zhen was given “rules” of the street by the chameleon zhen recites 2 of these rules after betraying po. but after the chameleon pushes po off the edge, zhen is upset by this and the chameleon tells zhen about a third rule of the street, which was “nobody cares about your feelings.” and it’s the first time zhen heard it. the reason why zhen never knew about that rule up until that point was because she never had feelings for anyone or cared about anyone else until she saw the chameleon hurt po, which is why the chameleon never had to tell zhen that rule until then. the pendant that the chameleon gives to zhen is supposed to be the equal opposite of the peach pit that po gives her. they’re the same size and shape, and the pendant had cost due to it being a gem, but it served no purpose besides looking nice, nor had any fundamental value. the pit, just like the dragon scroll, seems like nothing, but has real value to zhen because it holds the promise of actual growth, which she takes to heart in the final battle. all po truly needed to stand up to tai lung, his first villain, was his faith in himself. all zhen needed to stand up to the chameleon, her first villain, was po’s faith in her. the start of the first kung fu panda trilogy ended with masters who didn’t like po at first bowing to him, the start of the second kung fu panda trilogy ended with masters who didn’t like po at first bowing to him (except lord shen since he still hates pandas) in the first 3 movies, the b plot was ping being afraid of losing po, but they switched it up this time. i think everyone can agree that the b plot in this film is the best b plot in any kung fu panda movie li shan pretending to be a master of kung fu to scare the thugs, while they’re only scared of him because he’s fat and could make the building fall, yet he thought they were scared of him because he thought that they thought he was a kung fu master was a stroke of genius. the furious five may have not been in it, but li and ping were a good substitute. they had a bigger connection to po which allowed him to have the most spotlight in this film. li and ping were the ones who helped made sure that po had his heart in the right place. which seems to be a theme of this film. in kung fu panda, po strengthens his body by learning kung fu, in kung fu panda 2, po strengthens his mind by finding inner peace, in kung fu panda 3, po strengthens his spirit by mastering chi, in kung fu panda 4, po strengthens his heart by letting zhen in it after she hurt him
I thought that The Chameleon’s “tragic backstory”/motivation was kinda dumb (especially since we had a character WAY smaller than her doing kung fu in the previous 3 movies), but I still really liked this movie!!!
I get why people are mad and disappointed that the previous villains that showed up in the fourth movie didn't have much impact. But they shined in their respective movies so there's that. Though it would have been nice to see all of them fight Po and then come to a peaceful resolve.
The ending, to me at least, makes no sense. Why would Tai Lung say that Po deserves to be the Dragon Warrior, when the guy literally murdered him and Tai Lung has emotional trauma that pushed him to believe that only he was worthy of the title? We know that spirits can hold grudges because Kai spent 500 years in the spirit realm preparing to get revenge against Oogway, so what the hell?! I think that Tai Lung should've been released from the spirit realm in the beginning of Act 2 or something, then he joins Po to take down the Chameleon but they don't *immediately* get along and Tai Lung gets a proper redemption arc. Maybe Po even makes him the new Dragon Warrior, AS THAT WAS HIS ENTIRE MOTIVATION IN THE FIRST FILM! Also, Kai just being ok with returning to the spirit realm is just hilarious 🤣. Realistically, he would've just jumped Po after the Chameleon was defeated then feasted on the Chi buffet that is the other villains 😂.........WAIT A MINUTE! How the hell is Kai even there?! At the end of the third movie, he got overloaded with Chi and then disappeared from the spirit realm, presumably getting erased from existence! HOW IS HE THERE?!
Tai lung believed he was the only one worthy of being the dragon warrior, so seeing po defeat the chameleon whilst she had everyone else’s kung fu showed him that po was worthy of being the dragon warrior. For Kai, I guess it doesn’t really matter what happens to you, your spirit will always end up in the spirit realm.
@@nathankerr4219 I doubt it would be so easy to convince Tai Lung he was wrong. Him believing that only he was worthy was caused by Shifu conditioning him from birth (almost) to strive for nothing but the Dragon Warrior title. I really doubt that just seeing Po is more powerful would undo all of that (idk maybe it would, I'm not a psychologist 😄). Idk But for Kai, after his spirit got overloaded with Chi, he completely disappeared from the spirit realm. It wouldn't really be a satisfying conclusion if he just reappeared.
Once you learn about this movie’s troubled production, and how many close calls there were to this movie burning in flames, it’s a miracle it came out as a complete package and with at least some positives in it.
Kung Fu Panda 1 - Strength, Believe, Never Giving Up Kung Fu Panda 2 - Mind, Inner Peace, Letting Go The Past Kung Fu Panda 3 - Spirit, Growing, Being Much More Than Before Kung Fu Panda 4 - Heart, Change, Doing The Right Thing Kung Fu Panda 4 is an amazing movie as the other 3 Kung Fu Panda films and I love them all with my Heart & Soul cause the Story & Message/Lesson is so Beautiful & Meaningful~ ❤🥲😃
Fun fact : there is a KFP mini series shows the furious five’s backstory and Crane actually got the same treatment as Chameleon, he can only become a kung fu master because someone saw his potential while he was working as a janitor. Regardless of what people say, I still enjoy the movie
While definitely not perfect, I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would given the trailers and what little I had heard from the internet. I had a good time watching it.
They promised all the old villains, the chameleon wasn't fully explored, people don't like aquafina as an actor I think and they expected the furious 5 but they were only in the credits
Rewatch Po's speech he gives to Kai when he is in the spirit realm and is mastering chi and you will notice that his entire struggle In this movie makes no sense 😅
It’s confirmed that there will be 2 more movies. KFP 4 is Po giving up the title of Dragon Warrior, the next one will be him training Zhen, and the final one will be him passing on.
This movie doesn’t hold up to the other three movies, the villain didn’t stand out, and the pacing was messy, but I still enjoyed the action scenes, I liked Po and Zhen’s developing friendship, they basically became brother and sister, Zhen has potential to be the Next Dragon Warrior, and I loved the ending song
As an Aussie I don’t hear many people outside of Australia know who Steve Irwin is so thank you also Mr beast was the pig who tried out for the dragon warrior
@siei3i37 No, I just tend to enjoy things for what they are. It takes a lot for me to not "like" a movie (though there are a few) and way more to outright hate a movie.
@mimic1984 "It takes a lot for me to not like a movie." So basically, you have low standards like I said. This movie lobotomized a lot of the characters, The main villian had potential to be amazing but it all was abandoned for a shitty kaiju design and dumb motives, Aquafinna was just an annoying character who doesn't deserve to be the dragon warrior especially when Po JUST learned what it means to have that role in the last movie, The villians getting along with Po so easily made no sense, and there were no real fights that this series is often so good at. All of that and yet there's so much more wrong with this movie. Calling this a dumpster fire is an understatement. ua-cam.com/video/lQYHpQfjpHg/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared Sums up the rest perfectly
So it night not hit as hard if you havent watched the first three recently, and I'm not going to say anyone of them were masterpieces of thoughtful media per se, but the fact that I and others didnt gel with with movie is the lack of deepness it has. The first two had some POWERFUL moments that tugged at the audience, and the 3rd was great in it's own right. The fourth movie just feels like the first KIDS movie of the bunch if you get me.

Ok so i didnt watch this in cinema cuz a lot of people bitched about it being bad and after watching the reaction i MISSED OUT, this was actually amazing, looked amazing and just generally was awesome. I always forget people bitch about anything so from here on not making that mistake twice. Also why am i hearing One More Time in so many places?
I actually just recently brought myself to watch this for the first time yesterday. On the one hand i did enjoy it a lot more than i thought i would but also find it lacking in other ways. Like they accidently missed a movie or something. And i have watched the trilogy so...🤷 great reaction though!
things i didnt like about this movie: 1) po's ''next step'' feels needless. the story would've work just fine as him continue as a teacher. zhen as a student has already have a unique position compare to the other characters po has attempted to teach. and story already captured an interesting dinamic with an naive optimistic teacher and an troubled untrusting student. 2) dark moments. this movie has the same problem the 3 movie had. it cannot get dark and mature like the first 2 could. tai-lung and shen used to kill characters on screen left and right like nobody's business. the worst chameleon has done was pushing someone off the stares? weak. 3) lack of demonstration on po's chi powers. they made it look like he needed that stuff things that i like: 1) the action sequences were one of the best in the entire franchise. the fight scenes were fun, creative but also focused and uninterrupted. especially po's fight with chameleon might be my favorite final fight in all 4. whhich i am glad they made it satisfyingly long 2) zhen was an awesome addition. i really enjoyed her personality, her character development and her interractions with po. her chemistry with po was on par with five if not even better. and im glad that they didnt portrayed her as some sort of flawless badass. she had her own antics her own flaws and a really good arc about how to raise above them 3) chameleon may not be as dark as previous villains. but he was just as entertaining. watching her demonstrating her powers to fight and deceive was so much fun. her personality(like the scene she was reacting how slow the moon) shift from dramatic into casual had the same delicious comedic tone that i so much loved about the other villains. the details on her design was so beautiful. the voice actress killed it. 4) side characters were really entertaining. especially juniper city underworld. i really appreciate the amount of physical comedy they create with the animals. like pelican, bulls, bunnies, armadillo. 5) hit me baby one more time
What's absolutely disheartening about this movie is this was 100% destroyed entirely by the Corpa greed. They gutted this movie to check mark tick every lame and stupid trope imaginable according to what they think a movie should have to rake in money. From what I heard the artists involved tried their darndest to save it somewhat but for the most part it was a losing battle. I'm so sick and tired of big wig company moguls ruining and canceling projects left and right these b/c of money >:U
@@pancakes7778 Nah for Kung Fu Panda it was always about the story, the art and the message above everything else. This movie? Nope, destroyed by greed.
This has nothing to do with Awkwafina and being a Furious Five huge fan. People didn't like this movie because: - Shifu's character was completely destroyed. He IS the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, there is no reason why he couldn't continue to be - Oogway only ceased to be when he died. And everyone has their own role, this was shown more than once in early films; it is not at all necessary to accept what others expect. Including the role of Spiritual Leader. It would be much better to find a new path specifically for Po. - Zhen is not a cool hero at all. To be more precise, he is out of place. She's an okay hero, but not at the level of the Dragon Warrior. Not enough time was spent, no focus on her conflict - the first film was entirely about Po. And she doesn't have a unique trait that makes her a Dragon Warrior. Po, for example, realized wisdom in being himself, without talent, without a secret ingredient. Something the same or similar was needed so that Zhen could inherit from Po or understand herself. Perhaps even - she could together with Po learn this new thing so that their joint arc makes sense. None of this happened. - The film had much less money, so the Furious Five actors were not invited. And yet, as with Shifu, they were finally reduced to meaningless furniture standing behind the scenes. - They used the "devalue old movies" technique. They've used it before when Po learned the "who am I" lesson for the third time in the third movie. In the first film, he realized that "he is he" in the grand scheme of things. There is no special feature and all that. In the second film, he realized at the end that he was just him. Son of a goose. He said this to his father at the end. It was a little more personal, but basically the same thing. And in the third film he is looking for himself again. This was the weakest of the first three. In the fourth film he does it the fourth time, and also - no one knows him, no one respects him, so he has to solve things because of this. As if - Master Oogway was the greatest master in the world. He invented Kung Fu. And you mean no one heard that he chose the Dragon Warrior? Anyone in China should know about this. Certainly in the one city where everyone knows even about Master Shifu. - They showed evil Masters, but didn't use them in any way. And it doesn't mean that Masters had to choose a side and fight for twenty minutes. No. They didn't even speak. The recognition from Tai-Lung was very pleasant. It went between the lines, but the point is that he saw everyone Po defeated because they ended up in the other world with him. Over the years, Tai-Lung changed his mind about Po and accepted his own fate. This is very cool. It's a pity that this was given between the lines. Feels like random luck. The other Masters didn't even say a word. They weren’t needed at all, the Chameleon used Shen’s blow once, and it was just a little bit from Tai-Lung. That's all. - There were much fewer fights, they were more boring. The choreography in the first two films was amazing. I remember the prison escape to this day. Here, the final fight with the Chameleon has nothing in common with Kung Fu. It was a shonen fight. Where there are no transitions between beats, skill is not woven into a single dance. And at the end there’s a fight with a monster, like in a video game. This is hardly a martial arts film. The most original battle is in the restaurant. Even though the camera goes crazy there at times. - Past villains had at least a personal motivation at the second level of depth. Yes, all wanted take over China. Or the Valley of Peace. But why? Get back the position you were promised but didn’t get, even though you worked, proving in process that one who threw you away was wrong. To take revenge on the parents who threw you out in order to close the hole in your chest, while at the same time, through bloody decisions, avoiding the fate that says that you will be defeated. Take revenge on the brother who wanted you and show him that he was wrong, that he chose the wrong side, that it was not you who made the mistake that destroyed your brotherhood, but he. What does Chameleon have that is even close to this? Nothing. She wasn't accepted? Ok. By who? Do we know anyone of those people? Did we met them? Any emtioanl connection, any details? No. What was it again in reasons why she gave up on trying to became a Master? Is she small? Is she weak? Let her say this to the face of the Master Snake, who is a master without legs, arms, wings and even poison. Let her say it to Master Mantis's face, who is smaller then her eye. Moreover, it was not difficult to avoid this inconsistency. It was necessary to simply develop the conflict in such a way that Master Shifu believed in those children, but no one believed in her, the world turned away from her. And that would explain everything, would make her an interesting villain, but no.
Seth Rogen did return, David Cross hates working with Mike Mitchell, Lucy Liu would return but she was busy with other movies, Angelina Jolie for one line was $20 million and she didn't enjoy her role AS much as the others, and Jackie Chan would probably be really expensive too.
@@pancakes7778 I didn't mean that they necessarily had to be. Again, I understand the reason why they were not there, I wrote about it. The point is how they were removed from the plot. It's not because Po had a reason not to involve them. Not because they were really busy and they showed it to us. They were simply brushed aside, like in an episode of some TV show. It's pathetic, to say the least. Imagine if in a movie about Toothless and Hiccup, there would be no Toothless and only Hiccup. And they would tell us that Hiccup simply ran after the ball, which was thrown hard. An excuse of the same level.
@@pancakes7778 Uuuummm.... Maybe some... dog? I'm sure that dog can make noises of him. Not any dog. Not a tiny one at least. But one suitable for a role can.
I don't think shifu was out of character. He literally proved in kung fu panda 3 that he was unworthy of protecting the jade palace from kai Ofc he wants Po to become the spiritual leader, he didn't want the jade palace to get destroyed again just because he was unresponsible.
For my own sanity, I have come here to explain the "Rule of 2" The sith are inherently Evil, the Dark side as a part of the force us not Evil, but for most beings it leads to evil anyway. Because the Sith are so selfish and power hungry, when they used to exist in large groups; they would back stab and war with each other constantly. This became a problem when they also attempted to war with the Jedii at the same time. So Darth Bane created the Rule of 2. So if the apprentice betrays the master, he was clearly the stronger Sith and deserving of becoming Master and finding his own apprentice.
this movie had a chaotic production, the executives REJECTED literally any idea or character moments that Co-director herself wanted/requested to do but they said no because of the BS ''she worked on Television'' excuse, the runtime not being more than 90 minutes because ''kids dont have patience watching long movies'' (then WHY DID YOU MAKE BOSS BABY 2 107 MINUTES THEN????), Shifu seeing Tai Lung again was also REJECTED FFS, Lord Shen, Kai and The Furious Five were the last second additions to the film...yea never let Mike Mitchell direct a KFP film again

Fun fact: ONE LINE from Angelina Jolie was $20 million, but a furious five spinoff is in interest by the director of kfp4.
This makes me feel like Angelina Jolie or her agent are jerks
The joke of the blood moon not being in place is actually a pretty funny joke, in movies its always sun or moon being perfectly placed for the dramatic effect😂
I'm glad you enjoyed this. The main problem most people have is that Po retiring and Zhen getting the title goes against Oogway's vision. Plus Chameleon's villain motive makes no sense when you remember Mantis exists, and the film's theme of change feels half baked. But if you like it for what it is, that's perfectly fine. People should respect your opinions.
the chameleon being called small really wasn't the main reason, she was giving a few examples of many insults she was called, for example she said they thought she was worthless and no value (lowly) and and kung fu was not her destiny. not only that but she was denied from every training hall.
its a good movie on its own its just in comparison to the other ones
dont forget the part that kai should not exist anymore, and eaven if he did, nor him or shen would ever accept po
8:11 just so you know guys, the same knife catch did Shifu in the first movie when fighting Tailung, Po learned that excellently
(At 36:55) FINALLY! After 16 years of waiting, "Ian McShane" has finally returned to the _Kung Fu Panda franchise!_
It may be the weakest in the franchise, but I still found parts to enjoy. At least Jack Black's cover of "Baby, One More Time" is a banger.
(At 49:38) Technically, That's "Tenacious D" singing a classic cover from Brittany Spears.
(At 46:50) Shen is the only one who doesn't bow, but all his hatred towards Po is gone.
(At 13:50) Marcy Wu: _Woke up in Newtopia, where I fell down a flight of stairs~_
Heard Marcy’s voice way too clearly reading this
I think what makes me sad is there was potential, but it was wasted.
Reasons I didn’t love this movie:
Absolutely, you guys should do the Madagascar films!
I'm pretty sure it's a Disney movie but have you ever seen the movie (Bolt) maybe sometime in the future we will get your reaction. :)
kung fu panda 4 is a masterpiece, and people who can’t see that have clearly gone blind from overexposure to pure awesomeness
all of the movies have a recurring plot where po’s experience, training, and failures pay off, which happens once again in this film. the theme of the movie is what po told zhen, “it’s never too late to do the right thing.” it applied not only to zhen and tai lung, but also to po
it started with the same formula of shifu telling po he has to step out of his comfort zone and learn something new to better himself, but just like po, the movie changes. po has advanced in kung fu, inner peace, and chi faster than anyone, even oogway himself.
shifu wanted po to be like oogway, but po didn’t want to change. but on his journey he took his own advice and decided to do the right thing and choose a new dragon warrior. and he had amazing character growth along the way
oogway could have defeated tai lung at any time. but instead, he let po, his successor, defeat tai lung. in kung fu panda 4, we find out po could’ve beaten the chameleon any time with the staff, but instead, he let zhen, his successor, defeat her (or at least get a good hit in)
but after po revealed he could’ve broken out and beaten her himself, he gets the final blow and returns the kung fu to all of the masters she stole it from. this movie was po’s movie, he got more time to shine and prove that he was a more than worthy successor of oogway.
like i said, shifu wanted po to be like oogway, but po didn’t want to change. in the first kung fu panda, shifu was mad about oogway’s pick for the dragon warrior because nothing about him said dragon or warrior. po’s pick as the next dragon warrior had the same affect on shifu.
like oogway says, “one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.” po went on an adventure with zhen so he wouldn’t have to pick a new dragon warrior, yet on this adventure he realized that zhen was destined to be his successor and the next dragon warrior
as for the lesson that po taught zhen, it went perfectly with the theme of this film. people can change. po changed, zhen changed, the villain changed a lot, and even tai lung changed. this is one of my favorite plots from the entire franchise.
po of all people would know it’s never too late to change, because in the first movie, he was a nobody. he even told shifu “every time you threw a brick at my head, or said i smelled, it hurt, but it could never hurt more than it did every day of my life just being me.”
po thought it was too late for him to change, so he tried to escape the jade palace explaining why he stayed, “i thought if anyone could change me, could make me not me, it was you.” and shifu was able to change him and even put him on the path to being equal to oogway.
this is not how it was for chameleon, who i thought was a great villain. hear me out, chameleon is basically the reverse of po, people thought po was too large to do kung fu even though he wasn’t, and people thought chameleon was too small to do kung fu even though she wasn’t
despite being beaten and rejected so many times, po pushed through and became a legendary kung fu master, while the chameleon took rejection too personal and went on a rampage because of it because she most likely didn’t have someone like oogway to inspire her
po is all about being himself and doing his own thing, which was made very clear in the first movie. but the chameleon is all about being jealous of others and doing other people’s things. tai lung, lord shen, and kai all committed genocide, but not chameleon
the worst thing chameleon did was push someone down the stairs, which wasn’t meant to show us what she could do, it was meant to show us what she couldn’t do and what she was willing to do to be able to do what she wish she could do. she had no talent in kung fu, so she would do anything to make her way to the top
she knew what po was capable of, and he was the final test of her strength after she stole the kung fu from all the other masters
she gave po the staff that way she could fight the dragon warrior at his best. which is why she called it “a final face off between formidable adversaries alike in so many ways.” there, in the final battle is where they showed us what she could do. she’s like no other villain
the first villain was a student, and the villain of his teacher, shifu’s past, the second villain was the villain of po’s past, and the third villain was the villain of oogway’s past. but this time, the villain was the teacher rather the student, and the villain of zhen’s past.
speaking of zhen, her dynamic with po was one of the best parts of the movie. her redemption arc was conspicuous yet satisfying, as it brought po’s wisdom from kung fu panda 2 to life. her and po seem incompatible since she’s a thief, yet they make a great duo, and zhen makes a great successor
the “dragon warrior” title is an idea of taking nothing and making something out of it. like how shifu made a great warrior out of po and po made a great inspiration out of a blank page. zhen was nothing before she met po because she was a thief and a lying traitor.
zhen was raised by an evil villain and betrayed everyone who loved her, yet po was so pure of heart that his kindness helped her get on the right path, and genuinely made her care about po. before this, zhen was given “rules” of the street by the chameleon
zhen recites 2 of these rules after betraying po. but after the chameleon pushes po off the edge, zhen is upset by this and the chameleon tells zhen about a third rule of the street, which was “nobody cares about your feelings.” and it’s the first time zhen heard it.
the reason why zhen never knew about that rule up until that point was because she never had feelings for anyone or cared about anyone else until she saw the chameleon hurt po, which is why the chameleon never had to tell zhen that rule until then.
the pendant that the chameleon gives to zhen is supposed to be the equal opposite of the peach pit that po gives her. they’re the same size and shape, and the pendant had cost due to it being a gem, but it served no purpose besides looking nice, nor had any fundamental value.
the pit, just like the dragon scroll, seems like nothing, but has real value to zhen because it holds the promise of actual growth, which she takes to heart in the final battle. all po truly needed to stand up to tai lung, his first villain, was his faith in himself. all zhen needed to stand up to the chameleon, her first villain, was po’s faith in her.
the start of the first kung fu panda trilogy ended with masters who didn’t like po at first bowing to him, the start of the second kung fu panda trilogy ended with masters who didn’t like po at first bowing to him (except lord shen since he still hates pandas)
in the first 3 movies, the b plot was ping being afraid of losing po, but they switched it up this time. i think everyone can agree that the b plot in this film is the best b plot in any kung fu panda movie
li shan pretending to be a master of kung fu to scare the thugs, while they’re only scared of him because he’s fat and could make the building fall, yet he thought they were scared of him because he thought that they thought he was a kung fu master was a stroke of genius.
the furious five may have not been in it, but li and ping were a good substitute. they had a bigger connection to po which allowed him to have the most spotlight in this film. li and ping were the ones who helped made sure that po had his heart in the right place. which seems to be a theme of this film.
in kung fu panda, po strengthens his body by learning kung fu, in kung fu panda 2, po strengthens his mind by finding inner peace, in kung fu panda 3, po strengthens his spirit by mastering chi, in kung fu panda 4, po strengthens his heart by letting zhen in it after she hurt him
awesome
I thought that The Chameleon’s “tragic backstory”/motivation was kinda dumb (especially since we had a character WAY smaller than her doing kung fu in the previous 3 movies), but I still really liked this movie!!!
Imagine having Tai Lung, Shen and Kai, arguably the best Dreamworks villains, all in one movie and you mess it up this badly
nah its fine
I get why people are mad and disappointed that the previous villains that showed up in the fourth movie didn't have much impact. But they shined in their respective movies so there's that. Though it would have been nice to see all of them fight Po and then come to a peaceful resolve.
Yeah if they ain't gonna do anything, why add then in the first place? It's all just for fanservice that doesn't even make sense lmao
@@OfficialEdwardNewgate if tai lung only returns you already know how mad people are gonna be
@@pancakes7778 They would only be mad if the writing was awful
Idk
But for Kai, after his spirit got overloaded with Chi, he completely disappeared from the spirit realm. It wouldn't really be a satisfying conclusion if he just reappeared.
Not only that but even Lord Shen was bowing before him. The same guy who genocided almost all of the pandas.
You know how there are a ton of Kung Fu Panda shows? It feels like a high budget TV movie for one of those shows.
True
I think that is an insult to those shows. This movie is way worse than them
@@kingmatthewlegoHAHAHAAHAHA good joke
Legends of Awesomeness is better than this lmao
@@OfficialEdwardNewgate i remember i loved that show when it was airing
Once you learn about this movie’s troubled production, and how many close calls there were to this movie burning in flames, it’s a miracle it came out as a complete package and with at least some positives in it.
Favorite Dreamworks film, currently is Kung Fu Panda 2, just a few points ahead of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish tbh.

Kung Fu Panda 2 - Mind, Inner Peace, Letting Go The Past
Kung Fu Panda 3 - Spirit, Growing, Being Much More Than Before
Kung Fu Panda 4 - Heart, Change, Doing The Right Thing

Fun fact : there is a KFP mini series shows the furious five’s backstory and Crane actually got the same treatment as Chameleon, he can only become a kung fu master because someone saw his potential while he was working as a janitor. Regardless of what people say, I still enjoy the movie
I wouldn't say mini series, but more a short
9:16 Po did murder... TWICE
FINALLY! thank you for reacting to this!
They reacted to it at the very start of May and its on yt now a month later
Rewatch Po's speech he gives to Kai when he is in the spirit realm and is mastering chi and you will notice that his entire struggle In this movie makes no sense 😅
(At 41:30) badass pangolin!
I love the “co-parenting “ as you put, you could also call it open adoption too
It’s confirmed that there will be 2 more movies.
KFP 4 is Po giving up the title of Dragon Warrior, the next one will be him training Zhen, and the final one will be him passing on.
Hopefully they’re better than this one

You have incredibly low standards then.

Sums up the rest perfectly
So it night not hit as hard if you havent watched the first three recently, and I'm not going to say anyone of them were masterpieces of thoughtful media per se, but the fact that I and others didnt gel with with movie is the lack of deepness it has.
The first two had some POWERFUL moments that tugged at the audience, and the 3rd was great in it's own right.
The fourth movie just feels like the first KIDS movie of the bunch if you get me.

I actually just recently brought myself to watch this for the first time yesterday. On the one hand i did enjoy it a lot more than i thought i would but also find it lacking in other ways. Like they accidently missed a movie or something. And i have watched the trilogy so...🤷 great reaction though!
It's good just the pace is super fast, it needed to be longer and I feel like they're gonna have the furious five for 5 if it comes out
Loved the reaction!
Btw Ducktales season 3?😢
things i didnt like about this movie:
1) po's ''next step'' feels needless. the story would've work just fine as him continue as a teacher. zhen as a student has already have a unique position compare to the other characters po has attempted to teach. and story already captured an interesting dinamic with an naive optimistic teacher and an troubled untrusting student.
2) dark moments. this movie has the same problem the 3 movie had. it cannot get dark and mature like the first 2 could. tai-lung and shen used to kill characters on screen left and right like nobody's business. the worst chameleon has done was pushing someone off the stares? weak.
3) lack of demonstration on po's chi powers. they made it look like he needed that stuff
things that i like:
1) the action sequences were one of the best in the entire franchise. the fight scenes were fun, creative but also focused and uninterrupted. especially po's fight with chameleon might be my favorite final fight in all 4. whhich i am glad they made it satisfyingly long
2) zhen was an awesome addition. i really enjoyed her personality, her character development and her interractions with po. her chemistry with po was on par with five if not even better. and im glad that they didnt portrayed her as some sort of flawless badass. she had her own antics her own flaws and a really good arc about how to raise above them
3) chameleon may not be as dark as previous villains. but he was just as entertaining. watching her demonstrating her powers to fight and deceive was so much fun. her personality(like the scene she was reacting how slow the moon) shift from dramatic into casual had the same delicious comedic tone that i so much loved about the other villains. the details on her design was so beautiful. the voice actress killed it.
4) side characters were really entertaining. especially juniper city underworld. i really appreciate the amount of physical comedy they create with the animals. like pelican, bulls, bunnies, armadillo.
5) hit me baby one more time
So we're just not gonna do Regular Show and Danny Phantom this week then.
On UA-cam that is correct, we have a channel update video coming soon

@@rez-ye ah no my friend, of course they need a good story but everything is money
This has nothing to do with Awkwafina and being a Furious Five huge fan.
People didn't like this movie because:
- Shifu's character was completely destroyed.
@@geok2001 i mean.. is there a voice actor for toothless?
@@pancakes7778 Uuuummm.... Maybe some... dog? I'm sure that dog can make noises of him. Not any dog. Not a tiny one at least. But one suitable for a role can.
I don't think shifu was out of character.
He literally proved in kung fu panda 3 that he was unworthy of protecting the jade palace from kai
Ofc he wants Po to become the spiritual leader, he didn't want the jade palace to get destroyed again just because he was unresponsible.
For my own sanity, I have come here to explain the "Rule of 2"
The sith are inherently Evil, the Dark side as a part of the force us not Evil, but for most beings it leads to evil anyway.
1:25 I would
I'm glad you guys weren't being self-entitled manbabies about this film.
You boys never reacted to the "lightyear movie"?
