Incompatible “officially” with iPhone 13 Pro Max and barely capable of handling an iPhone 12 Pro Max! I mean really, DJI just released a this new Gimbal and it is incompatible with the iPhone 13 Phones and barely compatible with last years iPhone 12 Pro Max. Two of the most popular and the primary phones used for videography and the most likely to be used with a Gimbal. This thing can’t handle the weight and the motors are significantly strained to use with either phone to the point of shaking and or shutting down to prevent failure. Also, forget using with 3rd party lenses, heavy cases or filters. Straining these motors can NOT be good for their lifespan. But hey, it has a selfie stick. Limited articulation vs. OM4 and every other smartphone gimbal. Their “new” features like Active Track 4.0 and ShotGuides are 100% software so the ONLY reason not available on an OM4 is because DJI chooses to not make them available. A pitiful attempt to sway consumers to the OM5 vs OM4. So, petty is the attempt that they have even removed the medium setting under Follow Mode on the OM4 and it’s only available when an OM5 is paired to Mimo app. An app that they refuse to fix or update to provide every functionality a phone is capable of in the native camera app. Example why is slow motion fixed at 8x when iPhones can do others? Where is Dolby Digital HDR? Why does the pano mode constantly have a tilt to it? Unresolved issue since OM4. Pathetic. Also, the ONE feature that any company with half a brain would rush to market in 2020/2021 during a global pandemic is the ability to use the gimbal and active tracking with Zoom, Team, FB, IG, TikTok etc… but nope not DJI. Hell, the gimbal can’t even go 360 to allow use of the better rear cameras. So yea, like all the other UA-cam shills out there acting as marketing for manufacturers in exchange for free products these “features” never get talked about. Keep shilling instead of holding manufacturers accountable.
I completely agree!!! The Osmo 5 does not have the app available on Google play. The apps available are not the apps that work with the Osmo 5. It is why the app has such a low rating. I had to do some digging on the Internet to find a solution. DJI did not make it evident on the company website that the app must be downloaded from their website. I was disappointed that I was not being able to do low shots...but it has a selfie stick ha! Honestly, I stopped using the gimble after 1 day. Now, I use my Samsung s20 with the super steady option on, and hold it with my hand.
Don't be so hung up on the tilt range, how many times do you actually raise or down the gimbal to the max? You can just manually tilt your phone up or down of your preferences
I'm struggling with the Om 5. I had a hard time controlling its movement with my Samsung S21 Ultra and it would drift. I have an S22 Ultra now, and it still drifts, but what is worse is that my panning videos are very choppy. Even worse than that - the photos it takes with the Mimo app are horrible, like 20-year-old flip phone horrible. :-( It makes me sad. I saw some tips in your video and will try to apply some settings changes. Hopefully, this will solve those issues, but I worry that maybe my phone is too heavy.
Dji oms 5 is the worst actually. There is a brand called zhiyun They make the best gimbles. I use the zhiyun smooth 5 it is the best gimble for Xiaoping MI 11i
The jitter shake on the iPhone 12 and 13 is from the in camera stabilization. If you use a camera app that has a the ability to disable the camera shake, it fixes the issue.
I have an iphone 13 regular and it flops around in the gimbal. It is horrible in portrait mode and just goes where it wants to go. I tried to get it to work for me but after a week of use, I'll be returning it.
That honestly sounds to me more like a faulty unit. However I'd recommend you to rather take a look at the new OM6. They significantly bumped the built quality on that one ➡️ ua-cam.com/video/EvTqrsJEekI/v-deo.html
I just got the om5 and this is one of the very few purchases that I ma just not happy w. Should have got 4se. Om5 just looks good. When it comes to usage...not having fun at all.
I can't believe it has even less range of movement than the OM4. What you really should have highlighted though is the terrible vertical tilt range. It's worse than the OM4 and I return the OM4 because the vertical tilt was so bad. The recentering was also a constant issue - follow mode doesn't work well. I would never buy the OM5. It only works for slow subjects and for light use when walking and holding it at the optimal position.
