    Hey, my name is Dilon Ortiz and i was the person you interviewed wearing the blue shirt. Thank you so much for visiting Bandelier National Monument. it was really
    great being able to speak to you about our culture and to share our knowledge with you. I am so humbled to have been in your video explaining what work we do and how important all of that is to us. and how much we want everyone to come out and enjoy the beautiful trails Bandelier has to offer. but again, thank you for coming out to visit and all the other national parks as well. please come back soon!!

      Now that was a great comment, Dilon, and real blessing to read this evening! Thank you! And thank you for the time you took to speak with me and my daughter. It was clear you are a kind man with a big heart. Look forward to getting the full Bandelier video out in January or February. We really have many fond memories of our trip to New Mexico. All the best, my friend!

    What an awesome video!!! Sounds like you and your daughter had a ton of fun. That’s great to see. This Veteran’s Day I’m going to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to make my 4th trip on the crown jewel hike in the park, Mt. LeConte (via Alum Cave Trail). Although this time will be my 1st time staying overnight at the lodge that sits at the top of the mountain. I’m excited to use my GoPro Max for some footage. Thanks for inspiring me and many others to enjoy the national parks, make memories, and preserve them for us and our families.

    I definitely regret not discovering hiking and our National Parks while my children were younger. Your kids will undoubtably have great memories with their dad. Growing up in PA and NJ, my idea of vacations was the Jersey shore or Disney.

    • @AmericasParks
      @AmericasParks  4 роки тому +3

      That is a great comment, because this is something my wife and I often observe. People in NJ rarely leave the state. If they do it's Disney (like you said), the Poconos or possible OBX- and that's it! Glad I "broke tradition" and stumbled across the Parks. Appreciate the reminder about the memories... Some of the best we have! Enjoy your weekend!

    Im very inspired by your work and dreams to visit the national parks, your videos r very entertaining. The one question I have for you is, what can I do as a twenty year old to travel as much as you? Or how are you able to travel so much? Bc I want to visit every National park in the u.s, any words of advice or words of wisdom to do what you are doing is much appreciated. Thanks and God bless!!!

    • @AmericasParks
      @AmericasParks  4 роки тому

      God bless you, brother! If you are 20 and single you have the advantage of more flexibility with your time. As for me, I basically use all my vacation days and then pack in as much as I can on each trip. I fly primarily on "miles" (have an airlines credit card), eat cheap on the road and camp (can't afford hotels). Add a car rental in there with gas and just about all your expenses will be covered. Also, the National Park Pass is $80/year.

    Great video. I’ve been to Bandelier before and loved the park. Above the ladder are the highlands and there is a trail there. The route was used by Indians before and so much so there is a grove cut into the rock from who knows how many thousands of people have walked there through the ages. It is quite a sight and there are petroglyphs along the way as well with excellent views.

      @@SergeCousineau Thanks, my friend! That means a lot to me! Hope to release one video each week - looking at maybe 8-9 individual videos. Hope to get the "caving" one out first.

    Because of YOU, my dear Randy & family- I now have the NP bug!! Heading to Zion in May for the infamous Angels Landing- after watching you suffer up that sucker - yikes!! I’m a 55 year old weakling 😂💪🏻🧗🏼‍♀️

      I feel like I'm in trouble! lol! Wow, heading out to Zion to conquer Angel's Landing. Good for you!!! Take it slow, avoid the crowds, wear comfortable shoes with a good grip, bring water and hold those chains!

    Love New Mexico. How old were your daughters when they started doing longer hikes (without complaining)?

      haha! Hard to overcome the latter, but they did improve with time! Kayla was 11 went we went on our first trip (as seen in this video). Each child is different, but couldn't imagine going much younger - safety, duration of the time away from mom and the child's general interest. Have a great weekend, Sam!
