The TUDOR Black Bay 58 is named after the year in which the first TUDOR divers’ watch waterproof to 200 metres, the reference 7924, dubbed the “Big Crown”, was introduced. Among other aesthetic allusions to this famous historic watch, this model has a 39mm diameter case, in keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1950s. The watch is the perfect match for a GMT function, and with the Black Bay 58 GMT, the jet-setter’s ultimate function comes with a touch of mid-century elegance. The bezel is burgundy and black with a gilt 24-hour scale, keeping with the general design language of the Black Bay line. The design is reminiscent of a time when TUDOR divers' watches were first being made and jet planes were moving through times zones and delivering interlopers to destinations they could only dream of, faster than ever before. Finishing gilt touches have been applied to the hour markers, hands, and hour markers of the bicolour bezel. Another fan-favourite touch that remains on the Black Bay 58 GMT is the winding crown, which bears the TUDOR rose logo in relief.
KEY POINTS
“Original” Black Bay 58 proportions of a 39mm case in stainless steel with a 24-hour bidirectional black and burgundy bezel with gilt accents
Subtly domed matt black dial with gilt accents
“Snowflake” hands, a hallmark of TUDOR divers’ watches introduced in 1969, with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material
GMT Manufacture Calibre MT5450-U, certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), with a silicon hairspring and a 65-hour power reserve
Master Chronometer certified by METAS
A choice between a stainless steel 3-link “rivet-style” bracelet or a rubber strap, both with TUDOR “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp
Five-year transferable guarantee, with no registration or periodic maintenance checks required TUDOR QUALITY
With the introduction of this brand-new Black Bay 58 GMT, TUDOR has successfully submitted yet another model for tests to obtain Master Chronometer certification. This is part of a constant bid to improve the quality of its products and another step towards a future where the entire TUDOR collection will be Master Chronometer certified. This certification, offered by a Swiss government body, METAS, requires a substantial number of changes to a regular TUDOR Manufacture Calibre and comes as an independent confirmation of the exceptional quality of the TUDOR watches.
COMPREHENSIVE INDEPENDENT CERTIFICATION AND HIGH STANDARDS
METAS Master Chronometer certification is comprehensive and covers the main functional characteristics of a watch including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness and power reserve. Its standards are incredibly high, starting with precision. In order to qualify, a watch must be able to function within a 5-second range of variation each day (0/+5), that is to say 5 seconds less than the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) (-4/+6) carried out on a single movement and a second less than TUDOR's internal standard (-2/+4), which is applied to the brand's models with a Manufacture Calibre. The certification also guarantees the timekeeping accuracy of a watch subjected to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. Finally, it also guarantees the waterproofness claimed by the manufacturer as well as the power reserve. It should also be noted that two prerequisites are necessary before the certification can be obtained: Swiss manufacturing must conform with the criteria of Swiss Made, and the movement must be certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
CRITERIA AND TESTS FOR MASTER CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATION BY METAS
All the tests and prerequisites leading to the Master Chronometer certification, which the Black Bay has achieved, are summarised below:
Swiss Made
Certification by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC)
Precision at two temperatures, in six positions and at two levels of power reserve: 100% and 33%
Smooth functioning when exposed to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss and precision following exposure
Waterproof to 200m (660 ft)
65-hour power reserve

Alexander, your content continues its form at such a high level. Your channel is a joy to watch.
Love your comment… thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous watch. Tudor, again, listening to its market.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Love it!! Thanks Alexander!!
Thanks for sharing our passion!
Finally!!! A GMT in the 58 sizing! Less than a mm thicker is crazy!!! I can't wait to see this in person!!!!
Please keep us posted!
I really appreciate your effort to have these watches reviewed on hand. They are certainly intriguing to me
Thanks for the line feedback, keep us posted please…
I like that it's vintage designed especially the AL bezel yet it's new and tough. Its a perfect combination for me🎉
Thank you for explaining the GMT functions step by step. I’ve seen quite a few videos and others seem to have a hard time explaining it or I’m just an idiot. You I understood clearly. Thanks
I am happy to read this! Thanks for sharing our passion!
This watch is stunning
a stunning package, i had the original 41 but will have a look at this , hoping next they bring the 41 in the slimmerr case size and t fit clasp as that was the Achilles heel for me with the original
I prefer the original snowflake seconds hand and the 41mm size.
I have a BB GMT, a Pepsi and a Sprite. Don't need the lollipop seconds hand on the Tudor. Bought it because it had differences there.
A slimmer BB GMT Pepsi would be nice.
Omg I love it 😍
I love it
I like it wish they did an out track with the date window though. Nothing special but they did trim down the watch a bit. Gorgeous watch and a damn fine movement.
Thank you for this detail first hand review
Thanks for sharing our passion!
Awesome video. I hated the press release photos of it because I thought that the numerals on the bezel had faux patina but your video has it having more of a gilt which makes me a lot more interested. I’m still on the fence about adding it to the collection since I’ve been a diehard BB Pro user since its release. Hopefully they release one on the five link bracelet in the future. I’m definitely going to try it on when I’m in a town with an AD.
Thanks for sharing your passion with us! Please keep us posted…
Tudor still keeps the midcase thick and a high set glass. The Rolex has a slim midcase and the rest of the movement thickness gets hidden underneath
The best rolex group watch this year. On the rubber strap its a one and done watch.
You are not the only one to say this… 😉
I REALLY hope Tudor will offer that Rubber strap for the regular black BB58 as well..
I love the new BB58 “Coke” and it’s the first GMT from Tudor that I believe has the METAS certification.
I am hoping they come out with this model with the Opaline dial .
Beautiful
Thanks for sharing!
Gilt gonna match my chains..love it!
Alexander thank you for the content, do you know when usually the swatch group is showing their new stuff?
They nowadays show their new stuff just before they start selling … so it is unpredictable when…
This is pretty good
I wish it had white numerals on the bezel, white indizes and hands, a glossy dial, square indizes, no fake rivets and a 1mm wider bracelet. Then it would be a really cool watch.
My initial reaction was that I was happy they made a slimmer GMT, but I didn’t like the gilt at all. I’m starting to like it more over time though. I think it would look fantastic on a leather strap.
Thanks for sharing!
❤❤
This is a winner in my book.
I am hall to read this, please keep us posted…
What I like is this release will cause the second hand prices to fall on the current GMT. As I recently sold mine I will be buying another one as this release is not quite there yet.
It wont
The gilt numerals on the bezel will fade.
In fact, I’m surprised how much they fade.
I’ve daily worn a BB58 for about 4 years and the gilt numerals on the bezel has completely faded to silver.
I didn’t even really notice it until the BB54 came out with silver markings, and I looked down at my BB58 and I was like, well these are silver too!
Is it replaced at servicing? Because the original aluminum inserts in the 1960's where like tires on a car.
@@commentjedi I haven’t had it serviced but I don’t believe bezels are replaced. Unless specifically ordered.
@@Superdada has it been exposed to sunlight a lot? I live in UK so we don’t get much sunlight 😂 I have a BBGMT and excited to see the patina on the bezel over the years 👍🏻
@@RobinHood-us7sg I’m in Colorado and we have about 300 days a year of sunshine (🤫 shhh don’t tell anyone). So yes, a lot of fade from UV I guess. It’s also my ‘vacation’ watch so full days on the beach, salt water and sun.
Interesting. I also have a BB58. Gilt still looks brand new although only had mine for 18 months and rotate it with other watches.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video! The gmt is definitely in the right direction with the size, thickness and meta certification . But my take is that the glit is overly done and it looks out of place and fashion for a new watch .
It reminds me the first GMT 6542
With Bakelite. Simply love it 😍 at an incredible price point! ❤ it could become seriously my first Tudor.
Thanks for sharing your passion with us! Please keep us posted
Almost identical to that 6542, Rolex won't bring it back, I couldn't afford it anyway, but that Tudor I can just about allocate the pounds too😊
Waiting for the non-rivet no gilt version in 1-2 years 🤞
The gilt is growing on me but white would look the best. Being Hopeful as well also a BB Pro in white would be killer
@@Star-bp5jjyes an explorer homage in this case would be sick
I’m going to try this on at the boutique. I really like the black bay pro but was also considering a pre ceramic coke, but the price!
Please keep us posted….
❤❤❤❤love ❤❤❤❤❤

Hello, on the website, it mentions 20mm for the lug witdh. Do you confirm the bracelet tapers 19 to 16 ? Thanks!
The lug with is 20 mm but the bracelet itself is definitely 19-16… look closely it is a little bit smaller
is it the same matte dial as the 58 or is it the more glossy dial of the 54? can't quite tell
the gilt kills it
Why?
@@WatchAdvisor I agree with him. It doesn’t look vintage, it looks old. Kind of dirty. It’s just too much. I own a 54 and that’s the maximum of gilt I can handle.
I own the original BB GMT since 3 years ago (41 mm.). I bought it on bracelet brand new. Everything works perfectly, it's in perfect condition and because I have a big wrist, sits perfectly on it and by the way, I don't have any problem with the thickness. After 3 years I loved.
The ne GMT 58, have better specifications, also the t-fit bracelet but on the other hand, I don't like the gilt on bezel, markers and hands. Besides, I prefer "Pepsi" bezel over the "coke" , but is just my opinion because for sure, it's a great watch and Tudor is going to sell a lote of them.
I own as well the BB Heritage (41 mm.) and in this case, I'm thinking to swap it for the new monochrome.
Many thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
Finally! Will get this watch ASAP!
12.8mm thick including the crystal? Measured or taking their word for it? Thanks
Tudor has another winner here. The GMT Coke many wanted Rolex to do but didn't , and with a vintage look. This one will be hard to get.
Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
I think it looks great. Wish the gmt hand had some color to it though.
Yeah I have the pepsi and imo its a near perfect watch
Agreed! I get a bit confused on which hand to look at.
All is fine, but the golden numbers on bezel not. I hope they will release other colors like classic pepsi on white numbers...
Alexander, will you be doing a video on the new Blancpain 50 Fathoms 42mm?
I am at Watches and Wonders and Blancpain is not here… later this year maybe….
Do you know if the rubber strap fits the classic BB58 using the standard BB58‘s endlinks?
20 mm in between the lugs…
@@WatchAdvisor Sorry, I wasn’t precise enough. I meant the OEM rubber strap - so the width of the GMT center link would need to be the same as the BB58’s metal bracelet center link to fit in the gap of the BB58 endlink. I’d guess the GMT’s endlinks won’t fit on the standard BB58 as the case is a bit different. But we‘ll find out in a few weeks, I‘m sure 😊
It seems to me Tudor was given the nod from Rolex to retro the vintage GMT as unlike the Submariner, Tudor officially never released a equivalent 1950's GMT to the 6542.
Thanks for sharing!
This is a brilliant take on that Rolex 6542, that 6542 is so so slim, but yes, i have to get this Tudor 58 gmt
Love it! The winner of WAW 2024.
Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
When I first saw it: god, I hate all the gilt.
25 minutes later: god, I love the gilt.
weird things happening.
I agree, its growing on me. Its fitting for the coke name, that caramel bronze color looks good with that black and red. Coke for sure.
My BB 41 Burgundy 2023 with METAS has +5s per day. You said Tudor internal standard is +4s. Does it means I should asking for warranty?
No! Be happy that it is as accurate… anyhow it is a question how you measured this…
Master chronometer for tudor is +0 to +5 sec a day.
Not a fan of the burgundy bezel and always hated the faux rivets on the bracelet
19mm lug width? The Tudor website says 20mm...
It is 20 mm I between the lugs, but the bracelet is a bit smaller… needs some “air” to be able to move…
It seems like this is the most controversial model of this year's release. People either love it or hate it, I personally love it. I have the tudor root beer and I love the vintagy look, that's what tudor was always about, more vintage looks of Rolex. Rolex is more modern blingy look.
A majority of those who don’t like it didn’t even see it in real…
Tudor’s website says lug-to-lug is 20 mm, not 19.
I know! But the bracelet itself is not 20 but 19 and a little bit more… you need some space I between the bracelet and the lugs…
are you gonna review Bell & Ross novelty?
No!
Longine zulu time's hour hand wobbles like crazy when adjusting time whereas this one does not. There's the difference.
Fuck, i want one
🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
i've had a bunch of omegas and they all seem to run good out of the box but only for a couple months then all at +5 a day
Can you specify?
@@WatchAdvisori, including many others ( bruce william as well ) have noticed often metas certified omegas run within the 0-5 second per day spec for only a couple of months then tend to lose accuracy. I’ve had 4 metas omegas and all ran at +5. Also, i wouldn’t care if they ran + 0 and could be put into an mri if the watch has a chunky movement and isn’t complicated then i actually see it as lazy. It’s like putting a n/a 800hp V12 in a semi truck to me
01:34: All BB58s have 20mm lug width, not 19mm. Wouldn't you agree?
Yes! But we Talk about the tapering of the bracelet… 19-16
This could be cool, but at under 12cm thickness, minus the gilt, minus the faux rivets and minus the snowflake on the Gmt-Hand (use a red arrow tip instead).
Lol thats a rolex
This is a surprising release, the pepsi imo is a near perfect watch, I like how they made this one different however tthe things I don't like:
The crown and bezel should be gilt like the root beer
The bracelet, and rubber strap (those end links are awful) is underdesigned, it should be jubilee or have a 2 tone option
The pips are too small
The text is too long
Absolutely superb, the aesthetic mid century elements are spot on, the build looks excellent for the price but the level of gilt is too much for my tastes, but arguing tastes is
Pointless anyhow.
Great videos alexander! 👍
Thanks for sharing our passion!
just wish the text at 6 o'clock was over 3 lines, not 2 ... OCD ! :)
Or a smiley face layout like the old ETA BB. The proportion between the short “GMT” and long “Master Chronometer” seems off to me…
same witht he inital launch with the bb58, there is too much gilt. I waited another year to get the bb58 blue after that launch. Might be the same with this wait another year to get a more modern iteration of the same watch.
They should have thinned the black bay pro instead.
I’m sure they will. I’m just happy with a thinner GMT movement from Tudor
@@JStryker7 I agree with you. This GMT would look better on an old leather strap. I have a Rolex GMT pepsi; and this will always outshine the baby brother brand tudor's pepsi. Whereas on the other hand. The Tudor Black Bay Pro looks SOO much better than the Rolex Explorer ll black dial. They should have thinned the bbp first.
How many bezel clicks?
Well I forgot to check… but I am pretty sure 120…
Should be 60-clicks, but it doesn’t make much sense having a GMT bezel with 60 clicks…
The GMT should have 60 and the diver 120…
@@WatchAdvisor for a proper use, a GMT should have 24/48 clicks bezel, while a diver 60 or 120 click
48
Vanilla Coke! Have you seen the soda can?
no lume shot?
Of course in a separate video…
Nice looking and precise watch but it’s just as big as a 39mm Ranger and that bracelet is unfortunately below the overall quality standard of the watch, if it was 40-41mm I’d add it to my collection
Weight in grams ?
No idea…
When do you think it will be released 2025?
In the next weeks…
I can't with the guilt is way too heavy and the faux rivets are visually annoying
See you later Longines
The brands are eye to eye… that kind of competition is wonderful… never stand still…
Tudor Coke beer GMT
Tudor is passing Omega now. Unreal
Nah, not Omega. But they are passing Rolex
@@MKGamingInvesting wow, passing Rolex?
@@MKGamingInvestingdef not, but they would be significantly better than they are if Rolex released their handcuffs. The only reason they don’t make certain changes or release certain colors is because of Rolex. That’s a far cry from when they used the same cases as rolex
What a gorgeous new release. I am tempted despite already owning the BB GMT "Diet Pepsi"
Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
Caffeine Free Diet Coke
That’s called Coke Zero…
Needs the 5 link bracelet. Faux rivets and rubber are both abominations.
Have the rivet bracelet and agree it needs to go.
Less gilt, more 5-link bracelet = perfection
So….much….GILT!
Agree. Too much gilt, no pleasure.
Those gilt bezel markers ruin it.
no they don't. you just wanted a Coke and didn't get it. very different things.
I would have to agree... I've been looking forward to the bb58 gmt forever but it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer. Same thing happened to me with the standard bb58, I just didn't connect with the retro styling... but lived the blue one! Good thing is, they'll 100% bring out new colour combos soon after spending all the R&D money for the new movement ❤
Yes 👍 it's over done
Please...If Rolex released the same thing you'd all be spunking yourselves.
i agree but that is just my preference.. I still think it’s a great watch
You sure the lug width is 20mm!???
39mm stainless steel case with polished and satin finishes
Lugs: 20mm lug width
Case thickness: 12.8mm
@@WatchAdvisor Yes I know, but you said 19mm hence i was alarmed!!!
I was talking about the tapering of the bracelet and the latter must be a bit smaller than the lugs itself… otherwise it would be stuck and not move…
@@WatchAdvisor ahhh ok so it goes from 20mm to 19mm taper. Gotcha.
invicta diver 1953 inspired
Really?????
@@WatchAdvisor absolutely same
I'm afraid you're confusing a few things...
Camera lighting is terrible
If you knew the conditions we had to film in you wouldn't complain....
Tudor Coke Gilt edition.
Can you please specify so we all understand what you mean?
Faux rivets kills it for me.........
Wow, isn't it incredible: The homage is now better than Rolex. Too bad that so much marketing needs to take place to make ppl buy it at an overprice cost.
Why “overpriced cost”?
Why Rolex overpriced cost, same reason.
Tudor will never be better than Rolex. Not to mention that doesn't even make sense and Tudors QC is horrendous. Anyone who says Tudor is better than Rolex? Clearly never owned a Rolex
Same…. Nothing change….
Only colors……
The big change is a significantly slimmer GMT. They will release other versions in the future
a whole new movement, a gmt in the 58 range with a t fit clasp on the gmt....
Your comment is proof that you didn’t watch the video. At the very beginning of the video they talk about the new master chronometer movement. 😂
I know I could care less about metas
Why isn’t that interesting for you?
@@WatchAdvisor its an irrelevant certification.
Sorry but I do have to disagree! It is the only really relevant certification nowadays… Why? Magnetic 🧲 fields are the enemy number one of mechanical wristwatches…
@@WatchAdvisor METAS certification primarily measures a watch’s resistance to magnetic fields (up to 15,000 gauss) and ensures high accuracy (0-+5 seconds per day). For the average consumer, such stringent standards for magnetic resistance and accuracy may not be practically necessary. Everyday activities rarely expose watches to magnetic fields intense enough to require this level of protection.
not feeling this watch at all! I feel the submariner look a like is even better than this!
Another watch you can’t get!😢
It will be readily available after 6 months or so like all of the other BB58 models
@@thedaveaftertomorrow Yes, on the grey market and in some countries at the AD’s
Of course you will be able to buy this watch for retail. Just don’t let your AD fool you!!!!
@@WatchAdvisor Depends on your quarter spending with your AD, if you have spend enough on other watches or jewelry, the chances of getting one increases, if not go to the grey market and pay the piper! Don’t play the non existing waitlist game, in the end you are standing with empty hands!
Monta does it better for much less
Tudor should have, imo, made it 40mm and updated the entire BB GMT line to the new size, thickness, and new movement.
I mean this in the nicest way possible but that's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard
You clearly have no idea how much time and resource that would take a manufacturing company to do, one step at a time my friend.
I don’t like it.
TUDOR is a one trick pony 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Based
Why?
@@WatchAdvisor TUDOR IS A ONE TRICK PONY. THATS WHY THEIR SALES WERE DOWN LAST YEAR. THEY ONLY OFFER THE BLACK BAY 58 AND THAT IS A FAKE SUBMARINER 😂😆😂😂😂
@@WatchAdvisorI’ll answer for him, too much gilt.
As a Tudor fanboy - I am just disapounted so far…
Why? What’s missing?
@@WatchAdvisor the gilt colour at the 58 GMT is not my tea of cup. The monochrome is ok but at the wrong Size. I wear bigger watches sometimes but the probotions at the Origin BB 58 an 58 Blue feels just Right for me. Thats it… so many options… and they give a F@„&… ;-) they could bring a new Chrono „Prince“. They could bring a new Version of the Pelagos 39 or a other Version of the Ranger… the GMT in other cool Variation without the gilt Indizes and gilt/orange markers at the bezel… so for me the BB58, Bb pro and the Pelagos 39 Are still the top 3 tudors
I love the watch but I HATE the size ! I wish it was a least 41mm or 42mm.
Nice watch, but there too much homage of this model, you can feel the same with a san martin...i know its not the same quality but for the price its enough
Exactly, everyone's going crazy over this watch but to me it looks like a San Martin.
i felt the same. theres a similar watch from Monta that has the same vibes.
San Martin is just as good
for a quarter of the price.
San martin lol 🤣🤣
@@trinajska you’re a buffoon.
The last time I checked the colours for coke were white and red.
Will this be available for retail price
Probably not for a few months. Like the BB54 I guess.
Yes, it will be available for retail. Don’t let your AD fool you… they always try to make some extra money…
