This was a Fan-Tas-Tic trip. Huge thanks go out to Connor for inviting me to join him for the 9th time. And a somewhat lesser, but still substantial, thanks goes out to Simon for tolerating my cheeky attitude for over a week in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for not killing me in my sleep, Simon! :)

This whole 3 part trip is one of my favorite things I have ever found on youtube, Thank you for sharing a part of your life and adventures with us!
Hey Ted, I just wanted to thank you for these videos. I stumbled upon them a decade ago and fell in love with the idea of spearfishing. Last year I finally made the move to Florida. I have been spearfishing fairly often and loving it. Thanks
Nobody gives a shit when an ugly fish is killed. But as soon as a pesky, albeit cute, squirrel or chipmunk gets killed, the entire comment section goes crazy.
I believe he is killing it because they're are overpopulated and lionfish don't have many predators. They are taking over atlantic ecosystems. Please get educated.

You would be correct. They are invasive.
+Nope. I understand the reason behind why he exterminates rodents or birds, I was only making an observation on how extremely hypocritical people are.
Giraffe
First off, you have amazing camera presence. Not annoying or redundant, just chill as if we were talking one on one. 2nd this looks amazingly fun! No joke, it's going under my bucket list. Thx for the informative and awesome video brother. Definitely looking forward to spearfishing in the future.
Ted, your quality of content is exceptional and consistently interesting. No one has mentioned how excellent the technical quality is also. So many videos have good content but are hard to watch due to editing errors, bad settings, things like that. You have great content and great presentation! Thanks!!!!! And thank you for putting it out there for free, for us.
I'm so glad you decided to not keep quite. Again, your narration makes these videos awesome. Thanks again man. I gotta try this someday!
dude these 4 Spearfishing videos of yours are just fascinating
very beautiful , interesting and some times breath taking
the ocean the fish the hunting . so nice too watch and observe
I love how you commentate your videos! Very hard to find good quality videos like these.
This makes me want to go spear fishing.
same
True
Im too young (and not trained) but id want to as well
this is the life I want to live. Air rifle shooting one day, spear fishing the next day. Thank you for sharing this videos! I definitely subscribed!
this has always been one of my favorite youtube videos
you have some freaking iron lungs man.. jeze crazy breath holds
Ikr I can not hold my breath for really more than 10 sec
felix romo man I do 3:30 and i have never trained.
Wait.....he's holding his breath??
iamtingley cause he practiced for years
Said Abimelec Yup while you’re lying still. Try diving for fish while holding your breath.. wouldnt last a minute
Um...the lion fish is not endangered. They are nuisance here in the bahamas. They kill reefs and its promoted to shoot one if you see it out and about.
Patrick Sullivan true that the are a pest in alot of places and cause harm to alot of other endagerd marine
He said they were invase not endangered. Did you even watch the bideo?
Their very invasive female lion fish lay thousands of eggs a year
+NeonDoesGames bro can you even spell right?
NeonDoesGames did you even go to sbhool
I know this video is old, Ted, but if you haven't had Lionfish yet you need to. It is phenomenal. Locally, fishermen sell them to our coastal fish restaurants for $7 to $8 a pound and sell to customers for about $15 per fish. Delicious.
your spear fishing videos are the only good ones on youtube
I saw this vid pop up as a subscription, and skipped it for a while. I like seeing you drill the starlings and skymice. Finally, I opened my mind a bit and watched this, and found it enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad to see that someone is cutting down the lionfish population. I hate those fish
The greatest disservice to youtube... maybe ever... is Ted not making more of these videos :(
Lion fish are NOT poisonous, they are venomous!
stfu nobody cares
+FosterFilms 5 . People who eat them i guess. And be nice!!!
+Morten Piper nobody cares
+Morten Piper they are poisonous.venoms from the mouth...
+Seamus caskey Actually the lion fish is venomous. The difference between poison and venom is that poison is ingested while the venom is injected. The lion fish delivers venom through the spines on its back. The spines go in and the venom is injected.
You sir, are a beast. Glad to see some new videos regardless of what they are, they're always very interesting.
that has to be the coolest spear fishing Video intro in the history of ever!
SquirrelKnight approves.
I never really get into these kinds of vids, I was led here by a documentary, but wow Ted you have a great channel here and I've subscribed based on how informative and relaxed yet fun your videos are. Keep up the awesome youtubing!
I watched this 10 times And copied your technique and now I caught my first fish with a pole spear. THX!
Another great one Ted! Loved the intro. Thanks for posting.
Ted, you should try the lionfish the next time. They started appearing on our reefs here in Trinidad & Tobago a few years back (biggest I have killed so far was just over 12"). I got stuck a few times by them while in the water, hurts for a bit (similar to a bee sting) then subsides. They taste great. Just be careful, dispatch it with a knife to the brain, snap off the venomous spines and fillet.... Great video as always
Diver_Shyos where do you go in trini to shoot fish? I'm a trini that wants to get into spearfishing
Check out the dive shops in Chaguaramas to get ideas of locations and more importantly when the visibility is good. I started of freediving in Macuripe Bay, no spearfishing there though.
What dive shops in chag? Are they anywhere near kayak center?
A little further than there, look up Ricks dive world. All you need can be found there or they will bring it in for you.
+Diver_Shyos who the fuck cares
This was a very enjoyable and informative video. Pleasant voice, good videography, and it made me want to see more. Thanks for posting it.
Lionfish are bad here on the Gulf Coast of Florida too
We all miss the footage from your most recent trip! We hope to see it soon!
I love how no one really complains about fish here being killed but since if its a ground animal OOOOHHHH ERRRMMAAGAWD HE KILL DE ANIMAL
You should see how much people complained in his rabbit video *face palm*
ekk2000ek ikr they are pests anyway!
And I bet a lot of people complaining are sitting there eating beef jerkey. No one has a problem with killing domesticated animals, but the second you kill something in the wild shit hits the fan.
Literally a rat gets hit by an air rifle and vegans go ballistic, but when a fish gets speared they'd care less.
Its just odd, thats all
Maybe because its invasive?
I love this series. I watch it about every 6 months.
no more bahamas trips???? :( ive seen all your videos like 5 times. I want some new ones :)
This is my favorite channel on youtube. Seriously, when I see a new video I'm always stoked.
What kind of bike to you have?
Specialized Roubaix
+Ted's HoldOver What kind of air rifle do you have?
+Tom Big all of them
He has a acro bike c: (Get the reference???)
+Amanda Ventura gta
I love the footage of this trip! Watched 3 or 4 times and it is still entertaining.
Yep
Wish I could actually try spear fishing. Also it's sad about the killing of lion fish but it's fine since they're invasive
It's only fine if they had the balls to eat them. Lionfish is delicious.
I've avoided this video but damn it was nice seeing it man I hope u make ones like this in the future
Lion fish are a invasive species
You sure have handful of trivias. Love your videos :)
i whas looking at paintball, 1 hour later i came here...
Haha. I was looking at knife and sword reviews :D
I was looking at anti-gun vs imac and later i came here
i came w=here from hooking up sfishing
+Unixe omg mee tooooo
Hey man. I'm a new subscriber. Your videos are amazing and very inspirational. Be safe out there! And looking forward to seeing more videos.
to correct you on the lion fish they are NOT Poisonous they are Venomous theirs a big difference. Two they can be eaten and are very good. the venom is located in their fins only not the meat. and they don't kill you, only give you burning feeling which can be countered by heat and thus negating the effect. I know this cause iam Puerto Rico's official exotic animal contol
We miss you doing things like this!
poison injected isnt that venomous ?
Poison=Bad if eaten/drank Venom=Bad if enters bloodstream
venom is injected yes poison is secreted or ingested
Just found this channel, love this video, love the voice over and the explanation! I'm an american & I've never been to a beach or at sea so it's awesome to see this.
Blunt nose harpoon might be good for killing off those poisonous fishes.
What a fantastic video! Really amazing narration :)
0:55 concrete ship? wonder why it sank?
This is awesome! Much more interesting than shopping at a grocery store and way more interesting.
I am so freaking hungry now after seeing those fish tacos!
u should watch deermeatfordinners video about lionfish, he shows u a very easy way to fillet them in about 30 seconds.
Omg I love them
you are forever going to be my hero! i live in norther WI and i'm going to do alot of free diving spring fed lakes and hunting all thanks to you.never let what people say make you stop doing what you love.keep making the vids and ill keep watching them.
Venomous not poisonous
Im pretty fucking sure they are the same thing since they are synonymous to each meaning of either poisonous or venomous you moron.
Daniel Gutierrez NO. dumbass, if you drink venom do you die? no.
if you drink poison do you die? yes,
They are two completly different things
Daniel Gutierrez poison you drink venom is injected
Daniel Gutierrez
It's been done before; snake venom especially is a common example. There is even a spirit made in Kenya and other parts of the Kalahari basin made with the venom of the Naja ashei (Giant Spitting Cobra) for flavor. It's supposedly extremely bitter and can cause some numbness of the mouth if made too concentrated, but has never been recorded to kill anyone, even though lethal bites are not uncommon.
Daniel Gutierrez incorrect and insulting. You're on fire!
Just absolutely love that you spear everything but lionfish yet your title says lionfish in it. Proud of you..
Nice video. . Is kind of sad the way you kill Lion fishes. .. Though they are invasive; I know it have to be done
Get over it they are FISH
BOB JONES how are there still people like this. why is he watching these videos then ?
DAVID GUALDRON ooh oke. but they are good for nothing.
go stick a cucumber up your arse cry baby
Thank you Lexi Petrides ..
I thoroughly enjoy watching all your videos. You do an outstanding job! For those of us who believe in conservation as well as pest elimination, your channel serves us well. Keep it up!
crikey!
Dude that's so awesome! Your videos have never been boring. keep it up from NewZealand :D
I can't believe the visability of the water, I wish the water here in Wellington New Zealand was this clear.
Great video!
Lionfish aren't poisonous.
they are
Correct, they're actually venomous.
ednas02 {FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S} (VGCP) They're venomous. Poison needs to be absorbed or ingested; while venom needs to be injected.
i cant tell the difference between poisonus or venomnus
LakeBodomsReaper venom must be injected into you, poison you have to touch or ingest. In other words....who cares
For some reason I like this guy . He comes across as a nice polite guy .
atleast they are deadly and not a poor little bird or mouse,
Starvation is deadly.
Hi
Lizzette Reyes god forbid if they have a way to defend themselves
kAndyREW yea if they defend their selves they must die.
The Lion Fish is an invasive species that is destroying the environment.
"We leave no wounded fish in the ocean" you left the speared Lionfish
i'm not sure why you'd want to kill such a beautiful creature...
Glitter Z they are tasty, and they are overpopulating the waters because, they have much less predators due to their venom.
The Arbiter 544 thanks for the polite answer!
Glitter Z no problem (:
overpopulated
Glitter Z they are eating all little fish so they have 60/80 fish in their stomach and we have to kill them because they're destruckting the reefs ya now its a big problem
That was a very good video! Looks like u put a lot of effort into it!
Love your honesty mate, I think that is what got me back into air rifles after 30 years!!
great videos keep on posting!!!
Fresh water: exists
Mosquitoes: its free real estate
I was watching this with headphones on. I'm a cook aswell as a hunter; so when you said 'fish taco's' I practically yelled out loud 'WHAAAAAT!? AWESOME IDEA!'. Much to the displeasure of my cat, who was napping on my lap.
This video is outstanding! Thank you for sharing your experiences with the world!
I still don’t get how this dude can hold his breath this long and it’s been 11 years
This and pole fishing are the only types of fishing that should be allowed anymore. Great vid good sir!
-Make a kelp ghillie suit
-take a scuba tank
-become the sniper of the sea.
my check list.
Honestly it somewhat hurts me seeing animals hunted, but I respect your methods, "leave no injured fish" and you're respect towards animals, keep doing what you're doing. :D
would you be allowed to use gigs for the spear tip? specifically the ones that have many spikes that are splayed out? would seem like they would be better for the smaller fish.
“ We leave no wounded fish in the ocean but he sticks a lion fish and lets it go lol”
Pest control. Stab em and let em die. Lionfish are invasive and are killing eco systems.
Another great clip Ted. I need to find all my vids from Free diving in the Dry Tortugas and the ones for diving for lobster in the keys. It is amazing what you can see if you take the time. I came across a 6' nurse shark asleep tucked in between the sand and a coral head. I am hoping to be able to sail down there again this year.
I feel the same as you man. Stick as much meat as I can in the freezer and can a lot of veggies.. My 96 jeep has over 250k and still runs strong.
Just got home from 2 weeks learning to SCUBA in Honduras and this video, though I've seen it before, just got a whole lot better. I didn't know Hog Fish are red AND after eating Lion Fish in Honduras, if you get a chance, fry one up. AWESOME. Best tasting fish of our trip.
These are very clever and shifty lionfish! All other videos I've seen have the fish be super lazy, they barely register the threat and just sit around.
Common men! Good job here, I just can't wait to see part 3!!!!
This man brings us quality.
This is a public service announcement: do NOT comment Venomous not poisonous in this comments section.
Thank you
Hey man, great video, love the no wounded fish policy, as a hunter i can respect it. Hope to get into this soon, after a few classes on regulations and methods
Rewatching in 2021 to remind me of the happy times before the Cove.
Like the vids man. Love the explanations as you go. I learn something every time.
Fantastic video, can't wait to see part 2 Ted! :)
More spear fishing Ted! Really great how you narrate the videos.
love the commentary, love the detail & story, thanks bro
gotta tell you...this is really cool and makes me want to get back in shape and do this
i really enjoy the fishing vids man keep it up
I love going back to the spear fishing videos of his.. :)
Nice to see your a fellow Wisconsinite!!! Fantastic video series.
'We prefer the taste of females' 😂😂 DYING
Remember, in the beginning, when he was training? Riding 2,000 miles on bike? Well, he expanded his lung capacity from all that air - consuming work, and now he can almost be considered a seal in another 18 minutes of underwater Spearfishing.
He isn't killing for food.
He is killing for joy.
For anyone worried, Lion fish are a pain in the Caribbean and Georgia. Personally living on the coast, they annoy the hell out of me whenever I have to run across the beach from a lionfish patch.
This is the 4th time i"ve watched this series!
enjoy Ted I love snorkeling usually in Barbados but been to ill to travel for a few years never tried spearfishing either
Says he never leaves a wounded fish in the ocean and then pokes a holes in 4 different lion fish
When I saw that fish in the pot, I got hungry. Then realised all I have is a yakisoba.
love the professionalism
no lionfishes were harmed in the making of this video
I recently got into airguns so I watched many of your airgun videos... Then I came across this video and thought it looked familiar.. I remember watching this video like 5 years ago well before I knew your channel for what it was
