I have for so long now, really wished MLB would set cameras behind home plate and maybe even an umpire cam so fans can truly appreciate both the abilities of major league pitchers these days and what batters have to deal with everyday.
I think most people can relate more to the hitting perspective then the pitching and all we get is perspective from behind the pitcher. 50/50 would be greatly appreciated.
Shohei Ohtani is Absolutely incredible...despite being a Astros fan, i'm amazed by his talent and effort he puts into both hitting and pitching....GO STROS!!

Judge ain’t doing that.
Shotime is the MVP for all of baseball.
man i know im an astros fan but how can you not like shohei
My dad and I went just to see him pitch. We were hoping the boys would still pull it out, but it was still sick to watch him deal the way he did. Tuck bobblehead was a consolation prize
Agreed...Go Stros!!
Houston may land him next season. I say may… JV is probably going home to Detroit.
A true natural a rare player
Nice. straight down the middle with almost no movement. What a pitch. /s
His fastball is by far his worst pitch he is a breaking ball pitcher and you can see that with how far under the ball that swing was the batter was expecting anything but a fastball
Delusional... You obviously don't know baseball or pitching specifically. I'm a former D1 starting pitcher and coached at the collegiate level. A straight fastball that has velo is better for strikeouts especially if pitched up in the zone. Movement is good for groundballs... Straight is good for elevated punch outs.
Example. Jordan Hicks (lots of movement) good groundball pitcher. His elevated fastball doesn't get a lot of Ks... It sinks back down into the player's bat.
Mike Fiers... Only through 90 mph for the most part... Straight and over the top. Creates a lot of Angle. He can pitch up in the zone...
When you get to high levels... It's not about who has the best velo/movement... It's about who uses their gifts/talents the best.
Angle, deception, elevation change, command, manipulation, and velocity change. That's the name of the game. It's about disrupting timing of the hitter
@@kan6039 His fastball is a great 👍 pitch coupled with his split... His split will drop off the table while his fastball will remain elevated and won't sink... Polar opposites = lethal combo
@@everascendinguncaged3954 I'm not saying his fastball is bad it's just his other stuff is better his fastball works for what he needs it to do stopping the hitter from sitting off speed and getting the occasional k but he has had quite a few starts where his fastball is the only thing getting hit
Not sure what you are hating on? 101.4 mph rising fastball. You think you can hit it? MLB hitters can't hit it.
You gotta love his passion for the sport!
🔥🔥🔥 With the shifts I pull at work I barely have time to watch any games but whew Ohtani is a beast
In Hawaii, we call this guy a HAMMER
MVP 🎉
Shohei Ohtani is baseball MVP. Period.
No question Aaron Judge is one of the reasons why the Yankees are top in their East division but was he the SOLE reason why the Yankees were the best team in AL and had the best record in baseball at the All-Star break? the answer is NO, he wasn't. The Yankees had three players with 25 home runs (Judge, Stanton and Rizzo) and 6 other players with 10 or more home runs, they also have 3 amazing pitchers (Cole, Tailon and Cortes). The Yankees were the best team in baseball at the all-star break when everyone was healthy and playing, would the Yankees still be the best team in Baseball if Stanton and Rizzo and Cortes were OUT of the lineup from the start of the season? The answer is no, the Yankees would not be the best team or even division leader if their key players were unhealthy to play, and I am doubtful they would even be in the top three wild cards spot either.
NYY: Today 2022-09-11
1st in Home run (217)
1st in Runs per game.
2nd ERA 3.28
After the All-Star break, the Yankees played the Houston Astros and were beaten up like little leaguers, then August happened and key players Stanton, Rizzo and Cortes were out and they went 8-18 in the months of August, they had the worse team record in 30 years. How did Aaron Judge carry this team in August if they went 8-18 if they had the worse record in 30 years? Without Judge the Yankees would still be 8-18 or worse, and it wasn't like he wasn't producing, he batted over. 300+ with an OPS of 1.100+, with 9 home runs in August. They had a 17 games lead on the Tampa Bay Rays on August 1st and by September 1st it's down to 6 games lead, today 4.5 game lead over the Rays. Now imagine if the Yankees didn't have a 17 game lead over the Rays by August 1st, let's say 10 game lead over the Rays, where would the Yankees be today? they would likely be in 3rd or 4th in the wild card spot, and the Rays and Blue Jays would be first and second.
So I don't understand the notion and argument that Aaron Judge is carrying his team or the reason why this team would be fighting for the wild card spot right now. The reason why the Yankees are still in the first place is that they had a massive 17 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays by being the BEST TEAM in AL, not because of Judge alone, his contribution wasn't even a factor in August. Stanton and Rizzo had 25 homers and Judge had 33 homers at the all-star break, take Stanton and Rizzo out would the Yankees still have a 17 game lead over the Rays by August 1st? Just looked at what happened when Stanton and Rizzo and Cortes didn't play, they went 8-18.
How is Aaron Judge carrying his team again if the Yankees were 8-18 in August?
Because they would’ve been 0-27 without judge
@@tim8801 that’s awesome. So Judge carried the team to 8 wins in a month.
He gonna be the Goat pitcher 🎉

@@thetroyster02 Strider? Is he two-way too? And hits 30 home runs in one's spare time?😲
@@willsmith1175 Spencer? If that guy hits 33 home runs and has that strikeout rate, I think it's great.
This guy is going to be the highest paid player in the history of sports
Unfortunately NO, and it has nothing to do with Ohtani’s athletic ability or marketability as an athlete, but it has EVERYTHING to do with how analogue MLB conducts sports business. The highest paid pro-athlete in 2023 was Christiano Ronaldo of $136 million. No baseball players earnings were even close to this number.

Trout for homers and he has been gone for a while

Holy smokes man!!
I’d love to see him pitch for the Dodgers and then turn around and hit it ball out of dodger stadium
MVP!!
Free Shohei
102 in WBC
He trough 102 in wbc just amazing
Can't change my mind he deserves MVP even if judge is having as good a year as he is having
judge is having a much better year than he is, and his team is going farther, even though you say can’t change my mind, judge is better in 98% of hitting categories on baseball reference, and even with shohei pitching he has almost 5 more WAR than shohei, so idk what to tell ya
@@NachoTree23 so? Ohtani is arguably the best at his position in the AL and one of the Best at offense in the MLB judge is an average defensive player and great hitter
@@hprex judges dWAR is higher than ohtani, and they’re both negative
Judge: -0.1 Ohtani: -1.3
judge also steals more bases and at a better rate, he strikes out slightly more, and walks a lot more, more xbh, he has a slightly lower line drive %, but that’s because 26% of his fly balls leave the yard, and only 16% of ohtanis fly balls leave. judge has a 206 ops + to ohtanis 147, judge is on base way more, (.412 to ohtanis .353), slugs ways more, (.683 to .531) and there’s more
in the first comment i said almost 5 more WAR, it’s actually 5.2 more war. 5 is considered elite, and judge is at 8.8, ohtani is at 3.1
FanGraphs WAR chart is
0-1:scrub
1-2:roleplayer
2-3:solid starter
4-5:all star
5-6: superstar
6+: MVP
judge is at 8.8 with 20 games left
edit: when doing the compare feature, it lowers ohtanis war, probably because he is a pitcher, but judge still has a higher war. ohtani has 8 judge has 8.8
to convince you more, ohtani was MVP last year. Judges stats are better than ohtanis MVP year stats.
@@NachoTree23 WAR doesn't compute accurately what a 2-way player is unfortunately. it penalizes a DH who doesn't gave field position. and look at the protection AK has on his team compared to the Angels who have basically Trout as a consistent offensive player. then he got injured and was out for at least 2 months. if Shotime wasn't with the Angels, they would be last place in the AL. Yankees had the best record when the team was healthy with 5 players hitting consistently and currently having 20+ homers. when injuries happened their record suffered in the second half of the season even AJ was hitting great. So the narrative of the national media that AJ was solely carrying the yankees is totally inaccurate and disengenious😀
@@tootspogsforever5590 judge doesn’t have too much protection, other than pitching. everybody in the starting lineup today has a WAR below 3. and most have a WAR below 2, and only 2 other players hit above 250, and they have some of the lowest war and ops. if they didn’t have judge they would probably be in 3rd in AL east, that’s what i think. ohtani doesn’t have protection at all, i agree but trout is hitting better than ohtanis mvp season. ohtani does pitch too which judge can’t do. i think it’s also kind of the angels fault cause they aren’t doing much to try and get people to help ohtani and trout but idk, judge is leading AL MVP now, let’s see how the season ends.
this why he say its baseball after that
SHEEEEEEEEESH get ‘em shotime
If this kid ever gets to a decent team he may hit 40 dingers and win 20 games in a season. At that point MLB should just retire his number across the whole league and name him the official deity of baseball.
