You’re doing great mama! When my daughter wouldn’t nap I would try to wear her out by playing and interacting with her even more and dancing with her. I’ve also put on a little show or just UA-cam and that would help her fall asleep. Every baby is different and it’s possible he got what he needed. They’ll let you know when they’re tired. She’s now 2 and I’m still trying to figure out how to be a mom it’s a journey not a destination with motherhood 😊

My first son was not a good napper. I found that most times i had to do contact naps with him. After he was 6/7 months he became a better napper but the beginning was tough.

You are doing great as a mom. It’s not easy, it’s a lot of learning and figuring things out. With both my oldest and my two month old son I contact nap. My oldest is 17 months old loves being close when he naps. Same with my two month old. Since he was with his grandma, he probably just wanted you when he got home. So it’s going to be okie. Try getting the sleep you need, and taking care of yourself as well. You got this.

A couple tips for napping maybe a car ride or a stroller ride outside. I played calm music in the room for my little ones which helped to cancel out any other noise so that they could sleep. On the days they wouldn’t go down for either their morning or afternoon nap I would just keep them up. It is rough being a parent but definitely rewarding, as you watch them grow and become their own little person.💗 You are good parents and Theo is definitely blessed!
Also I would love to see a birth story if you have time to put one together for us!😊

Mother of now four adult children coming at ya! I had one who wouldn't nap as well. As long as they are happy, don't worry about it. I think you said he napped at grandma's, so maybe that was all he needed. If fussy and clearly tired, my best friend was a baby swing! Sleep schedules will continue to change throughout this first year with growth spurts, too. You're doing great!

Not that one is trying to make one's baby dependent too much on music. But my mom would play soothing and soft worship music and that would always help, especially on those days when we were restless and not wanting to nap. Hope it helps.

Please share your birth story! My baby just turned 1 and I still have a very very hard time putting her down for a nap and sometimes even to sleep. It’s still is driving me insane LOL especially since she still likes nursing throughout the night. The one thing that did help put her to sleep when she was smaller and lighter was wearing her on a wrap and just walking or even getting things around the house done. You are doing great, baby is healthy and fed and that’s all that matters! Also OMG your baby bear has soooo much hair and the volume he must have got that from you! Your hair is looking amazing! My postpartum hair loss was terrible 😂

Whoever said naps for newborns was easy, clearly never had a baby. It’s SUCH a roller coaster that first year, esp with sleep!
I’m thinking your little one just wants to contact-nap, aka sleep on you. That’s the only way my baby would nap (and sleep at night) the first 8 months of her life 🙃 she refused to sleep in a crib, bassinet, etc. We tried everything under the sun.
You’ll find what works for you, but he’s still so little and just wants his mama 24/7 🤍 It’s so hard and demanding, but this season will pass and it won’t be like this forever!

You’re doing great mama 🩷! My biggest tip for when babies are teeny tiny and trying to get them to nap is babywearing. As a mama to 5, a baby wrap or carrier is at the top of my list for must-haves! When they are this little, being snug and close to mama helps them drift off to sleep and you are still able to get things done while they are sleeping in the carrier.

I had an electric baby swing that moves side to side or up and down. I also love the baby wrap with the Velcro get my baby nice and cozy. Baby white noise also helps with sleeping and when baby is fuzzy. I’d say my 1st baby was pretty easy in my opinion for whatever I tackled, and now he’s almost 2 yrs old. Wow! I definitely made a schedule right away and try to do that consistently. I have schedules also even with the skin to skin and touch times but one thing I would say that really works for me and learned before having a family is that I do not train my new born/baby rocking to their sleep. I’ll try to use the swing for help but rocking with my arms is a no-no for me. I know everyone has their different ways to do so. But from my family experiences and observations, to reading and learning some bout babies, I found out that’s so effective not only for the baby but also for the parent. Anyways I hope that helps. All babies are different, so there’s tough days and there’s easier days. But next thing you know they be walking in no time. Girly been watching you since we both were single (almost the same seasons of our lives kinda) and I also lived in Illinois/Chicago area most of my life before having my little family. And now that you have your baby, i start following and watching certain people I follow that’s having the same kinda lifestyle as me. So anyways, congrats and thank you for sharing your life and faith with us!

I had 4 babies so far...as though each of them are different.....I never had any of them sleep more than 3 hours at a time during the night.
So as much as it may be frustrating, the fact he sleeps a night (which is anything longer than 6 hours straight) is amazing and my sleep deprived body would have been in bliss to have that. 😬 7-8 hours is amazing for such a young babe. He must be feeding well. And they are just all different.

Sleep is so here and there the first couple to even four months, but I would advise that you watch his wake windows at his age. It’s probably around an hour and a half to two between naps and right at that hour and a half mark rock him to sleep and try to transfer like you did because the reason I am talking about wake windows is Because they can get overtired, which makes it extremely hard for them to fall asleep so with my son, I had a very strict wake window routine with him daily and the first week was wonky, but after that first week, it was pretty easy for him to know what times during the day he’d be falling asleep for a nap. Hope that can help!
Every child is definitely though, so I pray that you have wisdom on how to navigate little Theo! ❤

Chamomile essential oil on his feet! Works like a charm... It's one of the best essential oils to use for infant massage. Dilute chamomile with a carrier oil and apply a small amount between your palms to warm the oil. Next, gently massage the oil onto your baby's back, chest, belly, and feet.

I'm a new mom too, my baby girl is now 9 month.
I understand you're feeling nothing prepare you for the daily life with a baby. My girl started good sleep night at 3 months. And only then i could get better sleeping at night.
For the baby blues it was better when she was able to move by herself ( returning back to belly and talking back in her language) .
My advice is take a step at a time and embrace every day, it's just a short period of time.
For the nap i can't really help mine only wanted to be in arm but after 3 months it's was inefficient so i put her on a pillow on my lap and she was asleep in a minute. But don't worry your baby will tell you what he want and need and you as a mama have confidence in your mother instinc. All prayers to you and your family

It’s normal for babes to not nap when they are going through a leap. My best advice, whenever my kids are about to drive me crazy that my sign now (my kids are 9 & 6) and I am exhausted, the next few days they show a new skill or seem older in some way. Their brain is developing! The best thing I heard to describe a leap was imagine you went to sleep and you woke up and the world didn’t look the same as when you fell asleep, that’s what it’s like for a baby who is going through a leap. Will be more in need of cuddles, cry easier etc it just means they are seeking mama for comfort in a unknown
and scary world. ♥️♥️♥️ I hope this helps. It still happens today for my kids as they go to a new place of development and growth. Also, as a worrier, I wish I would have just fell into the moments when things weren’t going as I had hoped. I wish I would have just cuddled more and been in the moment. Not to say you aren’t, that’s just something I have learned looking back.

Maybe try a stroller that is easy to take him in and out of. That may be soothing. Sound machines are helpful for nap time. I am a nanny and have worked with a lot of babies and infants and they are all different when it comes to nap time. One little girl would kind of bop her head to signal that she was falling asleep. She did that into toddlerhood. Thank you for the video ❤

Hi Ashley, so glad you, Johnny and Theo are well. I was considered gifted at being able to get my baby nieces to sleep! I used a combination of rocking and singing them to sleep. Your body has to be very relaxed so if you can do something to relax like drink hot chocolate or practise slow breathing, the baby will be lulled to sleep when they enter that relaxed state. The baby very much responds to the relaxed state you are in. I hope that helps. xx

For nap time use a white noise machine and put some nice music on for him or rock him to sleep - maybe he is having sleep regression. Also, watch your caffeine when your Nursing - it could be affecting him bottom line if he just won’t nap then skip it and put him to sleep early for the night

have you seen the leap calendar for babies? It helped me so much to know when a leap was coming so I understand why he wasn’t napping. Their brain grows a lot and they learn new skills and it describes it well if you can find the leap chart.

You can try an oil diffuser with peppermint, blackout curtains and a combination of classical or worship instrumental music... I hope he starts napping better hehe!

maybe try some blackout curtains in his room, it might make the room very dark, so the dark room might make him feel sleepy.

I had a newborn that wouldn't sleep and I realized it was my coffee consumption. I was drinking cold brew at the time. When I scaled back she started napping better. Oops! Haha 😅 perhaps it's the amount of coffee?

My son would never take naps for the first 7-8 months … and IF he did his naps were extremely short ! The only time he would be able to get a good nap in is if they were contact naps. As you continue to seek the Lord and try different things out, you will find what works best for you and your little man

Hi Ashley, blessings from God and your family from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic! You're a wife and mother who takes care of her family and God gives you that calling for your life. Thanks for sharing this video. I'd like to be a future wife and mother sometime in the future if God's Will. I ask your prayers for me.
