Whats crazy is not that a luxury hospital room is 4k a night. What's crazy is a lower middle class person like myself had to pay $28,000 is ONE night in the ER. Had 3 IV fluid bags for dehydration and 2 $500 pointless blood tests that never said what was the cause of my discomfort.

This is true. I rotated at cedars Sinai and heard that some obgyn attendings charge upwards of 1 million dollars per birth (inclusive of the 9 months of pregnancy/peripartum period of course, on call 24/7 for their clients). Some residents at this institution graduated into these jobs earning 30k per pregnancy. Just bang out 20-30 a year and you’re chilling. The money flowing through there is insane and something to be respected as an elite institution.

I used to work in one of the best hospitals in the world; I met former US presidents, former first ladies, senators, and Hollywood actors. We never treated them any different, but kept the visits private because of the press.

If we were wealthy, we’d do the same. The issue you should be highlighting here is the bullshit system that is American healthcare. I’m 37, have beaten leukaemia, survived a bone marrow transplant, heart failure, chronic lung disease and most recently, a bilateral lung transplant. I haven’t paid a cent and I received the best care available in my country. If I was American, my whole family would be bankrupt by now.

I was born with NF type 1 and part of the disease is tumors growing all over my body and sometimes they grow in a socially awkward spot where everyone can see it like in the middle of my forehead. I was tired of everybody look at me (even Hindus were looking at me like "I can't tell if he's mocking us or if there's something actually wrong" type of way) and I can't afford an elective -surgery so one day I decide to cut it off myself in an attempt to reduce the appearance with an X-Acto blade.
