I have six children. I've learned one load a day is all I can do right now. My oldest is 13, and my youngest is 1. I fold and put on my bed, shut the door, so the babies don't ruin the folding, and have my older children put it all away for me. Motherhood is exhausting, but worth every moment. I've learned to not be prideful and stubborn and ask for help if I need it, even if they don't do the work up to my standard. I've learned to let a lot of things go. Peace and joy are more important than a perfect home. You're doing great, Mama! Hang in there! Jessie Dierenfield

I certainly know and understand the laundry struggle. A couple things I found helpful:
*involve the older kids in the laundry duties. You could ask them to reach into the pile and pull out everything they know is theirs and make a pile for you to fold. They probably won’t find everything, but it cuts down on your work.
*another idea is wash laundry in loads according to rooms (persons).
Cuts down on sorting. You know that basket full goes to that room (person).
    * one of my favorites when my kids were still home was “Laundry & Literature “
Gather everyone together, one persons reads aloud while the other fold.
Hope someone finds these ideas helpful.
One good thing to remember being a homemaker with children is to divide and conquer. Many hands make the work light. ❤️

put the kids to work - it builds character and mental strength. its also natural human behavior for kids to be involved in chores, tasks and work.

Pro laundry folding tip.. Fold everything as you take it out of the dryer and use your basket to set the clean folded laundry in. Makes putting away a lot easier.

Each child does their own laundry now but when they were younger, an older girl did her laundry with a younger sister’s laundry: it all went in together unless it was a garment with heavy duty zippers that could snag the other clothing.
The boys dirty laundry went in a tote under their dresser, into the washer, into the dryer and back in the tote to their room.
If someone had a special delicate dress, it was placed on my bed so I could wash it with my clothing.
Sorting it twice took so much time; it was worth the effort to buy a couple extra dresses for each girl so they could do laundry once a week.
    Hope this helps, Julie 🌷

I gather dirty laundry every day, and then i do one load, for whatever load is largest and needs to be done. I start it in the morning and finish in the afternoon. Usually i do one load a day and that keeps it from becoming overwhelming. Even though the meals are a struggle right now because of the meat situation, you're still feeding your family nutritious food, so way to go, Mom! 🎉❤

I've left lots of folded laundry out for my toddlers to get sooo many times 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have 3 small girls and somehow have a waaay bigger pile than you! I shoot for doing a load of laundry every day or every other day and then fold when I can. Doesn't always work out that way, but that's what works best for me so the loads aren't super overwhelming. Your house actually looks pretty darn good and picked up!! You're doing great! I often wonder how you do it all!! Oh and is that another baby bump I see under your sweater??!

I do laundry by person. For example I do my laundry one day, my husband’s another day, and towels and/or sheets another day. My kids are grown but when they lived with us they were in charge of doing their own laundry. When they were old enough of course. Doing laundry by person makes for not much laundry so it doesn’t consume your life.

I do 1 load of laundry maybe 2 everyday, I throw in a load in the morning, then into the dryer towards the end of the day I fluff them then fold and put them away. I do not like doing 3-4 loads in a day once a week.

As a mom of five, I do laundry several times a week. I do my boys on one day and split the three girls between two days and my husband's and mine on Saturday. Works very well for me. Otherwise I would never see the end of the laundry in one day. Got to love little ones when they would rather play in the clean laundry then with their toys!

Ugh, laundry. My arch nemesis 😅 I will start a load first thing in the morning, every day. One in the evening if need be. When it’s dry, I sort and fold as soon as possible. I am the kind of person who will leave it in the basket forever once it’s in the basket 🤦🏼‍♀️ I am also out of home raised lamb and chicken, so I’m buying what I can from friends and getting the rest from the store. I find a lot of discounted meat if I shop first thing in the morning so that’s been super helpful. I’m not afraid of a little oxidized beef 😂 We are starting GAPS after Christmas so I’ve been practicing those recipes and learning where I can get meaty bones locally. Whew, it’s a learning process that’s for sure!

Fly Lady home keeping system is lightly structured and customizable to your own desires. I had four children too and remember well what you are feeling. Hanging in there by seeking a few minutes of your own a few times a day - fresh air helps! (Hugs) your work at home is SO IMPORTANT

It's just me, hubby and a toddler so we don't produce as much dirty laundry as a larger family. I do laundry on Wednesday and Sunday. I gather, wash, dry, unload the clean laundry into the hamper - shirts and pants are spread out on the top so they don't get too wrinkled. I carry babies clean clothes directly to her room and put them away or I won't do it lol Then the hamper goes into our bathroom and its hubbies job to put those away. All I ask is that the shirts/pants get hung up so they don't get wrinkled. To be honest, the rest of the clothes - socks, undies, loungewear - gets dumped onto a side counter that we have in there and we just pick through it until the next laundry day lol

I'm young still and can be foolish, but the longest food I ever cooked was a smoked brisket for a lil over 12 hours. But damn I really want to learn to make stew or soup.
on an unrelated note, I bought some pipe tobacco that JRR Tolkien smoked, Capstan Virginia flake blue..!
....Now I need to buy tobacco smokers toothpaste.

Aw man I would eat beef everyday, make some meat loaf wirh a homemade sauce on top. My Brother wants me to find a way to put some beef liver in it.
If I get lazy I eat canned oysters or fish.

As a Mum of 5 I find doing one load a day keeps us on top of it. Here in Australia we use clothes lines and dry outside within an hour or 2 it's dry. Now that my kids are getting older 12 and down they all do it so I really don't do any washing anymore. Yay! Frustrating early on but definitely worth the training now!❤

    Laundry:
I put all of my family's clothes in the kaundry room. The clothes get tossed unfolded into fabric bins in cube organizers. This has been a gamechanger.

I love your new intro! You rearranged the slides - it looks GREAT! Could you please provide the link for the hamburger stew? For laundry, I try and do my laundry when the hamper is 3/4 full... if I'm REALLY pressed for time, I don't sort it by colors... (except for white stuff that absolutely needs to be kept WHITE.) ... Sometimes just having it done and not stressing about having it done "right" is useful. My husband always helps put it away if i've just left it on the bed in a pile, because I've gotten bogged down with household chores. Maybe your oldest could help you sort it. Praise him/her for their help - let them learn how much you appreciate it. Families are a TEAM. It feels good to be on a team - even young children can understand that, and they're usually pretty receptive to it. (As far as the little one goes... JOKINGLY I say... maybe you could just tie a cinderblock to his feet after dinner so he can't run around! LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I'M ABSOLUTELY BEING SARCASTIC AND NOT SERIOUS ABOUT THIS SUGGESTION. Little little kids are like mini tornados - ESPECIALLY boys! Hahahahahahaaa!)
I PROMISE YOU, you're gonna miss the times that your home is full. Being able to scoop your kids up and hug 'em is the BEST feeling. My son just turned 25 on the 27th of November, he's now almost 6'3... and I'm only 5'6".... (My point is...) how I miss the days when I could just snuggle with him... even in piles of laundry. LOL! (It would be soooooooo weirdly inappropriate if I tried to cuddle with him now! LOL)
You are very organized and structured overall... I have watched lots of your videos, and to create that type of content - you HAVE to be. :) You are so far ahead of where most of us ladies are! Don't sweat it! You are doing REALLY WELL, Marissa. I always learn from your videos, and you're one of my go-to sources when I'm looking to make something natural. I don't really think your home is "that bad", ya know? I'm sure the other rooms in your home have their own issues with clutter, but, having a season of messiness doesn't mean you're failing. It's okay to sit down and just feel tired sometimes. It's reasonable to feel overwhelmed and under-inspired. Give yourself permission to rest. While you rest; make a plan or a list of the thing's you're gonna do when you get up and feel a little recharged. (Like a mini temp-schedule). Once you do get motivated, all of those little "scheduled tasks" are gonna snowball, into LOTS of progress, and you'll feel SO SO good about what you've accomplished.
Thanks for this video. It's nice to see that someone else is "normal" like I am. As a woman, I often feel like I have to have my home perfectly put-together, or I am failing at being a good wife and momma. I know that's not true; but it sure does feeeeeel like I am "sucking at life".... I hope you guys have a wonderful holiday season that's filled with lots of love and lots of happy "memory moments".
I think you're doing GREAT. Take care.
    Lots of love...
    ~S
