God speaks to me through my mind and in my heart. When I'm praying and pondering, thoughts will come into my mind. When those thoughts are matched with a warm, peaceful feeling, then I sense that they are from God.
Personally, God speaks to me as I converse with him. Ideas, thoughts, sometimes solutions/hints to my daily problems come as a result of these conversations with God. ☺

Holland - This was the video that sparked a question inside of me that became a defining moment in me leaving the church and it is in regards to this video. "How does God talk to you?" This is a great question and something that I thought I knew very well at the time of listening to that talk. However in this talk they both got the same wrong answer, to me this would've been easy to dismiss. I would've just felt like I wasn't "believing" hard enough, I wasn't "worthy" enough, or many other answers. I would've been 100% ok with that answer because that is what the church has always taught us and made (at lease me) feel. I was never good enough, but at a point where I accepted it and I was okay with that. I mean I was not a prophet or anything close to that so it totally makes sense. The problem for me came after they had been told the wrong way, the justification of this. That God gave them the wrong way to know that it was the right way? Now that seemed to be some mental gymnastics to me. This helped me to begin the understanding that there isn't a God, it is just us mentally trying to work things out the best way that we can in our head. Sometimes we are right, and sometimes we are wrong. So in short, I don't believe that God speaks to us, I think that it is just us in our own head trying to work things out the best way that we can. Our emotions are ours to have and feel, we can feel peace and love from a happy memory or a happy thought, that doesn't mean God is the one that did this. We can also feel anger and frustration, but that doesn't come from the Devil either. That also comes from us and our understanding. It is a very simple concept and usually the simplest answers are the correct ones.
