- The video shows the timelapse of the adult literacy rate by country from 1980 to 2020. The literacy rate is defined by the percentage of the population of a given age group that can read and write. The adult literacy rate corresponds to ages 15 and above.

And yet, my attention span for reading a book has dramatically dropped...
Same happening with me, guess time to focus on studies rather than using too much of our phone.
If you start reading, I guarantee it will improve very quickly. I had the same issue and it pretty much disappeared in a matter of days when I started getting into reading again. It's just your brain needing to get used to the medium again, takes a bit of time though. Just make sure to read something you enjoy, it will make it easier for you.
Course, reading posts on the Internet counts for literacy.
Only one reason: skill issue
Most books are just crap.
It's interesting how Portugal had such a low literacy rate compared to the other European countries.

@@Krishna-df1xt what sin?
@@eliseoespera6965 Portugal people and Ronaldo s favorite subject in academics " *Sins* " 💀
Portugal until 1975 had a capitalist dictatorship that didnt care about peoples wellbeing
The reason is quite simple, and it's called Estado Novo. Under Salazar's dictatorship there was no real investment in education because it was said that people would follow orders better if they were poor and "humble", as well as centuries of education being monopolized by the Church (that only ended in 1910). The situation was bad even before - the country reached the 20th century with a litteracy rate just above 10%, and even in 1975 almost 35% of the population couldn't read or write.
Thankfully the country essentially ended illiteracy, and now it's now under 3% (or even less). Most of those people (>99%) are really old, being over 80 years old.
Someone noticed Cote d'Ivoire rising to 90-95% in just 7 years?
