65-year-old female baseball fan here. I have enjoyed your behind-the-scenes videos about life in the majors and minors. I visited Cape Cod for the first time ever last year. It was too late for the Cape League season, but this trip got me interested in learning more about this league. I have also discovered other such leagues in the country, although it sounds like the Cape League is the best. Some relatives in the DC area have been posting lately on Facebook and Twitter about teams in the Cal Ripken League, which operates in the DC and Baltimore areas. Four of the teams are in their county, including one that plays just down the road from where they live.
Hey Matt, did you play (at a serious level) any sports other than baseball when you were growing up/in high school? when did you quit to focus solely on baseball? I've played hockey and baseball my whole life and I'm about the same skill wise in both, at a travel level, but I love both sports so much that I've never been able to choose one to focus solely on. Thanks and I love your videos!
How much baseball did you play before high school? Did you ever have specialized training growing up? like a batting instructor or a fielding instructor?
The one thing that struck me is that you had never had a job before your first cape cod season. Being an athlete has its challenges, but it's definitely a different life than the rest of the population.
Thanks for this informative video, very helpful for me. I have a relative (Brock Wilken) playing this year for the Harwich team ,looking forward to this weekend as several other family members are going up to see him play. Opening game is 6/20. We will be there til the 22nd.
Can you do a video of how you liked San Antonio. I noticed you said you played double a for a little in another vid and you were on the padres. I live in San Antonio so just wondering your opinion
I'm curious, and it may be in another video, but if the Cape Cod League is the best college players, and I think you said DI baseball was about like AA or High AA ball, what is D2 and D3 and Community College baseball equivalent to as far as the pros?
Damn Matt, you sounded like quite the model employee there lol I wonder if anyone at that store didn't know you played ball and thought "this kid will go nowhere with his life"
Hey Matt, i'm a current college pitcher playing in the MINK summer league. Did you have any JuCo guys or was it mostly all division one? Im a juco guy getting a lot of D1 interest and am hoping to get into a prestigious league like the Cape, alaska, or costal Carolina league next summer. Also is it a lot of who your coaches know or can you reach out to the program and get recruited yourself?
Matt, this is Higgins Roche of Roche Brothers. We calculated your 5 minute sit-down breaks in the parking lot over the course of your employment with our store, and we have come to the conclusion that you owe us $5,268.31 in unworked hours. Please remit payment immediately to our store, in person. All in pennies. Today. Plus interest. Please.
Love your channel. Why did you stop playing? I feel like you're still somewhat young and theres indy ball and all kinds of leagues a top draft pick like yourself could have continued playing in.
You bet Matt. Cape Cod League is great stuff. Chatham is fun. 'Murca. The infield at Carlsbad High in North San Diego County is better than PetCo - which is the nicest MLB surface in the nation. West Coast Turf in Riverside County grows some nice Bermuda - Ralph at Carlsbad, grooms it like the fairways at La Costa. You could do an infield seminar at Carlsbad sometime. God Bless. ____
Dallas Smith he did a video recently about that. he had a nagging hand injury that kept needing surgery so he missed a bunch of time so eventually he was let go and never called back.

If Cape Cod league games are an hour from your house during the summer then you live on the cape. Lol. That traffic is rough.
Matt Plasse nah parts of the south shore and surrounding areas are within an hour of parts of the cape and are not considered part of cape cod

Sleek You forgot taking a nap as the pitch gets there so you're ready to whack the ball :)
Thank you guys because I'm not really good at batting

Host families shouldnt even be a thing. Teams should pay for housing.
