Yamcha beat goku in a fight. Yea here was a kid, and was hungry, but nutty many people can say they beat Goku. If you hold Yajirobi over this, then you must hold GT over Z or something lol.
Goku, in the original Japanese plot, is not a “let’s do the right thing” kind of guy. He just wants to fight whoever is the strongest. The western dubs changed up his personality to make him appeal more to western audiences.

1. Goku got angry at frieza in super for killing those assassins and even threatened him after their spar. He also flew into a rage when he found out goku black killed his family.
2. That universal clash was happening because goku had no experience using the god form. The whole fight was basically a giant training session. Also it didn't happen for no reason. Incase you forgot beerus was going to destroy the earth prior to gokus arrival.
Goku has always been a warrior first and a hero second. Remember this is the guy who gave cell a sensu bean because it wouldn't be fair and held back from killing buu the entire saga to let the others have a chance.

Goku could have just fought Beers regularly(like he ends up doing anyway) and avoided damaging the universe. It was the fist bumps that were causing those shockwaves and it was insanely reckless of him to play chicken with them.

Also he tried fighting beerus normally and he got slapped for his troubles on king kais planet. Also the only reason he fought him normally later on is because his God form ran out. (He still had no control over it)

The whole "Goku as Superman" thing was an Americanization of the character, in the original DBZ he's...well..there is a reason Team 4 Star makes a lot of jokes about Gohan having daddy issues and underlying rage at Goku. Goku as a character is both extremely naive, and hyper focused on fighting to the detriment of his family..he even promised Chichi he'd marry her without even KNOWING what marriage was due to him literally growing up in the mountains with only one other human as contact and after he died it was just him and the animals of the forest. When DBZ was first dubbed for the US they wanted to try and draw some more connections between him and Superman other than their origin stories which is why he is like he is in the US dubs. I think that's why there's a rather well known picture of Goku as Superman standing next to Sailor Moon who's dressed as Wonder Woman since they were both some of the earliest anime to get popular in the west, and Sailor Moon due to the time period it came in during had to have morals inserted at the end of every episode to even be aired on TV.

Goku wasn't simply dissing Supes for being white, look at the full line. "You're pretty pasty to be powered by the sun". He's saying that someone who allegedly has to get sunlight on a regular basis should have a little more colour, and mentioning the sun acted as a lead-in to the Son Goku line.

The "flying Miss Daisy" line is referring to Superman's flying pose with his fists outstretched in front of him, as if he was driving a car.
Also, the line "you're pretty pasty to be powered by the sun" is just saying that if he's in the sun that much, since it's where he gets his powers from, then his skin should be darker in color.

So in the Japanese and manga, Goku isn't doing anything because it's the good thing to do, he just wants to fight strong opponents. Goku is actually kinda indifferent unless you harm his friends. And the flying miss daisy line could be a reference to when goku drove a car in the anime.

Okay so the white guy line is a joke about how Superman is suppose to be powered by the sun but is never tanned.
The reference to all the vegetables is because a lot of characters in the show have a naming scheme and Saiyans have a vegetable naming scheme ie. Kakarot=Carrot, Vegeta=Vegetable, Radditz=Radish.
Also, note on the personalities, I dont know about Superman but Goku's go to to settle anything is a fight where I always thought (correct me if Im wrong) Superman likes to avoid a fight whenever possible, which is a main difference in personality and hence the "miss daisy" line. Anyways, fun vid to watch~ ouo keep it up!

Hmm, Goku’s best friend, played a big role with Goku turning Super Saiyan (although he died for it to happen), married Android 18 (arguably best waifu of all DB), had a kid with her. Uhhh ultra win for Krillin on that. And in DBS he comes back and does actually pretty well in the ToP for a *human* surrounded by monsters. So yea Krillin by far not the worst. Now Yamcha on the other hand...
He's also kinda brave, like when he attacked Buu despite knowing he's out of his league. Ofc, Tien did it too..

@@silver7215 Yeah, Krillin is really not the worst character ever. And underrated at times, to me, he's a very likeable brave little man, that proves that jist because he's not as strong as a saiyan and is tiny, he is very brave and resourceful, and pretty strong.

Not too mention before the tournament they had Resurrection F which showed exactly how much more powerful they got compared to when they first faced off against Frieza. I mean Roshi, Goku, Krillin and that Alien cop took out 1,000 each of Friezas soldiers where before they got whupped by the Ginyu Force.
On other hand, Yamcha now.....
Goku going after supermans personality makes more sense in the japanese version as goku was orginally (and still is) portrayed as just wanting a good fight. Hes not scared to kill someone and will egg people on just so he can get that fight (in super he orders an assasination on himself). He is still kind hearted though so its not a super strong bar, but is worth noting that only in the english dub is he portrayed heroicly.
As for the vegetable line its due to all saiyans being named after vegetables
Vegeta = vegetable
Kakarot = Carrot
Brolly = Broccoli
Bardock = Burdock
Raditz= Radish
Kale = Kale
Cabba = Cabbage
Caulifa= Cauliflower
The list goes on but saiyans are specifically named after vegetables although kakarot is definetly one of the weaker ones
The "freeze your whole measly species" bar is a reference to... I think they're race is frost demons? Frieza's race, anyway. Frieza tried to while out the Saiyan race by blowing up the planet. They're all named after ice or cold. Frieza, his brother Cooler, King Cold, etc.

Not necessarily. Goku in the Funimation anime that you'd see on TV is like that. Very heroic, very righteous and like a savior. Goku in original Japanese anime and in the source material isn't like that. He's more naive, selfish and, for the most part, only "heroic" when his friends and family get involved and/or are in danger. He just wants to fight strong people and most times that coincides with saving the Earth. It's seen especially in Dragon Ball Super, where Goku risks his entire universe being destroyed just to fight strong people. Totally Not Mark sums it up well in his videos if you want a deeper look into Goku's character.
Some editing feedback (not criticism, feedback)
1) I really love the bright lights, filters, and closeups you use for emphasis in key situations. I watch a LOT of ERB reaction videos and nobody else is doing this that I see. It's very cool.
2) If you have too many cuts too close together it can get VERY distracting. From timestamp 1:50 to 2:27 I counted 11 cuts, that's an edit every 3 seconds. For me, anyway, it starts getting unwatchable when it's that frequent. But I wanna stress this is feedback, not criticism because I just discovered your channel and think it's awesome.
I like the cuts. I prefer it greatly to long pauses, word mixups, extra “ums”, etc. but I understand the grief.

There personalities are actually pretty different. It’s just the English dub that makes him sound more supermanish. Goku is pretty naive and selfish at times but wants to do the right thing not a Boy Scout by any means. Also there backstories are similar up to him going to earth besides that goku goes off in a very different direction. Hell the alien thing wasn’t even added until Z. At that point all of OG DB was just a monkey kid (journey to the west) story.
most of the species in dragonball have naming themes. saiyans are named for vegetables, the demons from the original dragonball are names for instruments, bulma's entire family is named for underwear, every member of frieza's species has a "cold" name (with "king cold" being the worst offender), and higher beings are often named for other food or drinks, like god of destruction beerus. so all the vegetable references are just because goku is literally named "carrot".
and yes, i know you've already been told this, but i figured you'd find it interesting to note that it's not just the saiyans, it's everyone.
The last line is a double if you know the Superman curse. 1950s tv Superman was played by George Reeve (no relations}. He was the first live action Superman. The actor who played Perry White killed himself. So, they added a new character who is the cousin to Perry. They got done with the 2nd season and about to start shooting a third when George killed himself which led to the show being canceled. It was easy to replaced a supporting character, but when the star of the show is gone? You can't replace the star. This is why the Superman curse is happening on the sets of all the Superman, or outside the workplace. That is why he said another one which he is refering to more than one. Both actors could not walk again.

The vegetable references are about how the full-blooded Saiyans in the series are named after vegetables ... (Goku=Kakarot=carrot, Vegeta=vegetable, Broly=broccoli, Turles=turnip, Cabba=cabbage, Kale=kale, Kolifla=cauliflower, etc.). Although, Bardock's name escapes me as to what vegetable it refers to.
The "Pretty pasty to be powered by the sun" line refers to the fact that superman is powered by Earth's yellow sun, and is basically asking why he doesn't have a tan (since he has to absorb yellow sunlight in order to use his powers).
If you want a complicated plot, look into the lore of the anime/manga seven deadly sins. That's really deep. Over 3000 years deep.

I always took the "flying miss Daisy" bar to be a diss on Superman's age. Miss Daisy from the movie Driving Ms. Daisy was an older woman and if I remember correctly she was a bit of a... Pain. It's been forever since I saw the movie so I could be wrong. Just a thought.

The saiyans are named after vegetables, broly,broccoli, kakarot, carrot,vegeta, vegetable. In universe 6 the saiyan planet is called sadala,salad. Akira gets all the characters names from simple things. Bibidi,bobidi buu,freeza,king cold,cooler,and frost. And most recently gas was the main villain in the manga

The 'villainous to vegetables' line was reference to 1940s Superman. 'Golden Age' Superman would tell kids to eat their vegetables if they wanted to get as strong as him. Given that he just made a reference to Krillin, hes suggesting that Goku & Co might as well have no brain.

A lot of people have already pointed out the Saiyan name thing. Another thing, the English 90s dub really warped Goku's character. He likes to fight. It just happens that many of the people he fights are evil.
