    If people really took the time to understand the context behind songs like XXX, FEAR, FEEL, PRIDE and not base their judgements off of a corrupt music genre, they would understand why this album won. It’s about substance. I sense a lot of racial tension in the comments, rather than rationality. Just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

    "To Pimp A Butterfly" was the real actual winner of the Pulitzer prize 🏆 obviously , they just don't know Kendricks discography so they accidentally named the wrong album title by accident at the actual ceremony because DAMN. just happened to be his newest album & they just happened to say the wrong title unfortunately 💯 Everyone knows it was his second major studio album "To Pimp A Butterfly 🦋" to win the prize cuz it's mainly Jazz music & cuz of all the extremely deep rooted meanings that ends up explaining the entire albums title thru out every single track 💯

      Comparing kendrick lamar to shakespeare IS laughable

    • @jarrettwilfred
      @jarrettwilfred 6 років тому +10

      Shakespeare created content for mass consumption by common people as well while being regarded as creating fairly topical storytelling to the people of the age. Further, while his work was being performed and while he was alive people did not validate his work to the standard we hold it up to today. Kendrick being compared to Shakespeare is a justifiable. He is a cultural icon.

    • @osborne3
      @osborne3 6 років тому

      Will we remember Kendrick Lamar in 400 years probably not. So yeh it's a joke.

    • @jarrettwilfred
      @jarrettwilfred 6 років тому +11

      Ok sounds very presumptuous. To back up what your point is you have to first prove that people believed Shakespeare would be around in 400 years during his time period and you have to prove that we cant draw those parallels to the talk going on around Kendrick Lamar. Truth is you don't know what will happen and it doesn't concern you whose voices will continue to permeate through the human experience. However, Kendrick is speaking to a generation in a unique and eloquent way. Your disrespect for his artistry isn't backed up by anything at this point because you are an L in a comments page and he is a highly publicized and applauded for his work as a lyricist and musician. Your disrespect for him winning this award only furthers the importance of having voices like Kendricks to have access to these platforms. He is not asking for respect he is taking it and its working fairly well. In the paraphrased words of Kendrick you should probably sit down and be humble.

    The Puritans (alt right christians) in early 17th century England continually frustrated Queen Elizabeth I with wanting to shut down theatres where Shakespeare and other writers performed their plays...considering plays to be degenerate! Go figure! Now we say Shakespeare is the ultimate in literature! By the way, the queen got so fed up with the Puritans that they ultimately left England in a huff and headed to the New World!
