When was researching, I looked HARD at Viper. I was running car alarms in the late 80s/90s and Viper was the one to have. I didn't run them because they were expensive and you had to have a dealer install them. I know people buy them on ebay and amazon and DIY them...but their warranty doesn't cover DIY installs (as far as I am aware). And while they do have a blade-like modular capability, I couldn't find anything as easy to install as the Excalibur. Maybe it's out there...but they have harnesses for data immobilizer bypass boxes that you have to add and they only cover remote start, etc. etc. It was complicated. Then I stumbled across Omega in my research as a highly recommended brand, and I went to check them out. I didn't know at the time that they were the ones who made Excalibur (which was a brand I was familiar with). I liked their product, and features, and could browse around their website and see exactly what I could buy for my Jeep. Then I called them and talked to some tech support guy to ask a few questions. He was very nice, knowledgeable, conversational, and even better... helpful. It was during that conversation that he actually pointed me to a different system than I thought I wanted... because what I thought I wanted wasn't the best fit (even though it was a flagship model). That was cool... usually companies try and push the flagship... but he pointed me to a better unit for me... not the most expensive one. Finally, it was during that conversation that I learned that they were just about to release that new T-Harness which will fit my Jeep that offered integration from the security, remote start, and keyless entry side of things. We talked for a long time about how that new harness, combined with the blade, would be a super easy DIY install. As it turned out, they had a pre-production harness in the shop that they were willing to send to me - noting that the production lot would be available for sale in just a few weeks. So, I was sold. Great customer service, super easy install, well regarded company, great features... That's what landed me there. I'm impressed that you expanded on it in a big way. As you know Viper has one of the biggest names, and yes, their flagship looks robust. But so is the price and requires dealer install. It's one I have been looking at with all the bells and whistles, but it's been quoted a $1300 install. Ouch I'm also impressed because the Excalibur model you're doing isn't their flagship either in price points, although does seem to be a newer release, which is good. I priced out your full system and it's sub $300 which is amazing for the features. I really look forward to seeing how the rest of this install goes. And hope they get that new harness out in the market soon, because I want to buy. If I can ask another question, how does this alarm deal with signal interception and other high tech capture methods? That's a great question... I actually asked the same thing. ;-) Here's the answer. The Excalibur AL-1775-3DB uses Keeloq encryption/rolling code technology which is just as high security as you can get for civilian RF. It is the same technology that Viper, Prestige, OEMs, and most other reputable companies are utilizing today. They have also coupled it with spread spectrum technology (SST) that uses a wideband frequency spectrum making it harder to detect or interfere with than traditional RF technologies. Awesome video !!! I know is a old video but happens to me I bought a 2017 jeep with this alarm and just yesterday left me stranded in the middle of the the road the alarm came off and won't let me start the jeep . I keep digging after a couple hrs. And disconnect the main fuse off the alarm to start it up the jeep. My question is what I have to do to get back to work the alarm how it should.
Good video, I have a factory alarm/ security system.. don't know which would be better.. I just pull fuel relay and lock the hood if I'm in a sketchy area.. Its a pain doing that though.
Make sure you watch my other video on why I selected this. No question this far exceeds the factory alarm. Also adds remote start. Pulling the relay is smart... But doesn't really protect anything else. Lots of folks having batteries/doors/tires/wheels/steros stolen... So I decided it was time to put some security in place. Breaking out a window or cutting the soft top won't trip a factory alarm.
You Mentioned the remote start feature.. I have a 6sp manual.. Still peaks my interest as that I could just pull the ebake and leave it neutral.. BTW, Been watching your videos for awhile... Thumbs up!

I have an excalibur installed on my truck. When i used the remote start the windows wouldn't roll down unless i had the key in the ignition. Now i have the key in the ignition and my windows wont roll down still. Any idea what went wrong?
Hello so I installed in a 2016 manual transmission and my doors don’t lock and unlock with the remote. Is there another wire I forgot. I don’t have the clutch bypass or the horn wires connected yet but didn’t think that would have anything to do with the doors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bill

Hi, yes it will. Power doorlocks/OEM remote is not required. If you wish to add You just need to install OEM or aftermarket door lock actuators and we have an interface that can drive them called the DLR-U. Thanks!
So if I just want the alarm and not the remote start or door locks I just need the 12v constant power on the 4 pin sensor ports and whatever wires to the accessories I want on the 18 pin, right?
Hmmmm.... interesting question. I would believe so, yes.... because the only thing you need to do is 1) power the system and 2) connect the siren, hood pin switch, and other sensors. - of course lights and horn if you want that too... I would reach out to Mike at Kickyride.com
So I just talked to Mike... and he's saying there is really nothing to gain from bypassing the remote start feature...you still need to wire the ignition wires for the alarm (so it knows ignition status) and that's done via the T-harness. I'm not sure why you are looking to not do the remote start...but I'd encourage you to call him and talk with him about it. It sounds like it's just as easy to install with full remote start capability - even if you choose not to use it.
Thanks for the interest and responses... I think I've got it figured out, I still need the constant 12v and the accessory/ignition circuit splice to tell the brain what's going on, but after that I think I can just leave out the splice to the starter and proceed with all the alarm components. Never felt the need for a remote start in a vehicle but if I did it'd be in an automatic... truck has a manual transmission, I always leave it in gear when it's parked, and really just trying to not to get into all that. Maybe if I lived somewhere cold I'd want it but I'm in Louisiana ;)
Yes! I am doing this in my son's 2004 Jeep soon.... everything works just the same, except that there is no T-Harness...but the install isn't difficult. If you buy from kickyride.com I know they will give you a vehicle specific install guide that will step you through the connections.
dissapointing, I was hoping to see you use the large 6 pin and and some 18, but this ,,,is too specific to only a jeep unlimited to extrapolate for others vehicles..
That's because that harness hasn't been released yet. The website has this instruction: 'STAY TUNED, PACKAGES WILL BE RELEASED BY NOV 3RD IN LIMITED QUANTITIES. EMAIL US TO BE NOTIFIED AND GET YOUR SYSTEM FIRST!" If you are interested still, I would email them to get on the list.

Will this system work with manual door lock or aftermarket doorl locks? I plan on adding aftermarket electric locks to my jeep
Hi, yes it will. Power doorlocks/OEM remote is not required. If you wish to add You just need to install OEM or aftermarket door lock actuators and we have an interface that can drive them called the DLR-U. Thanks!
So if I just want the alarm and not the remote start or door locks I just need the 12v constant power on the 4 pin sensor ports and whatever wires to the accessories I want on the 18 pin, right?
Hmmmm.... interesting question. I would believe so, yes.... because the only thing you need to do is 1) power the system and 2) connect the siren, hood pin switch, and other sensors. - of course lights and horn if you want that too... I would reach out to Mike at Kickyride.com
So I just talked to Mike... and he's saying there is really nothing to gain from bypassing the remote start feature...you still need to wire the ignition wires for the alarm (so it knows ignition status) and that's done via the T-harness. I'm not sure why you are looking to not do the remote start...but I'd encourage you to call him and talk with him about it. It sounds like it's just as easy to install with full remote start capability - even if you choose not to use it.
Thanks for the interest and responses... I think I've got it figured out, I still need the constant 12v and the accessory/ignition circuit splice to tell the brain what's going on, but after that I think I can just leave out the splice to the starter and proceed with all the alarm components. Never felt the need for a remote start in a vehicle but if I did it'd be in an automatic... truck has a manual transmission, I always leave it in gear when it's parked, and really just trying to not to get into all that. Maybe if I lived somewhere cold I'd want it but I'm in Louisiana ;)
I have a 2001 jeep tj. Is it even possible to install somthing similar to this on it? As far as security goes?
Yes! I am doing this in my son's 2004 Jeep soon.... everything works just the same, except that there is no T-Harness...but the install isn't difficult. If you buy from kickyride.com I know they will give you a vehicle specific install guide that will step you through the connections.
