I wish that too. When I was looking for an Aussie, I started out specifically to get one with a tail, but the only way I could arrange it would be to buy a puppy before 3 days old when I would have no idea of the temperament. In the end, I decided temperament was the most important thing, but I wish there were more breeders that didn't dock in this country (USA).
What else will the AKC demand of the breeders next? Miniaturisation? That seems to be a new thing too. They'll probably reject Aussie pups that aren't a certain colour as well. I registered mine with three NASDA and the Border Club in America. My BCs were black/white or r/w and I'd adopt others as well if I could afford to now.
Yeah, I certainly would think that the person who posted the video knows the dogs, and knows the breed. Aussies are awesome dogs!! I have 2 now, and had one, my Katie, who lived to be 15.
Aussies are born with docked tail, half tail or full tail. It doesn’t always mean that there getting docked, pure bred aussies can be born with a docked tail... 🙈
Bunk. That's what you're told by the owner, an AKC breeder/ member. Met too many owners with Aussies w/tails and they were told to dock their puppy's tails or they couldn't join the AKC. Many chose not to. Pembroke Corgis, on the other hand have evolved not to grow rails. Other dogs-Great Danes, Boxers, Doberman, etc. are docked here and their ears are pointed too. I'm glad my niece and nephew left their Great Danes unlocked and their ears unpointed and I'd be just as happy to adopt a Cardigan Corgi-with a tail.
Mia Mills . You've never seen an Aussies tail get pulled off leaving the bone. Happened in front of me when I was a lad. He got caught in the gate. Gruesome sight. They almost lost him on the operating table, where it was a major operation. Some dogs need their tails. My Australian Shepherd is docked and dewclaws removed at three days.
@@oldsageratThen why don't we hear about this with BCs? A friend and I measured our dogs-my BC and her Aussie-and theirs were the same length. I told her that my Tess wasn't registered with the AKC and she said neither was her Bessie's. She refused to have her tail docked and she's had no problems nor has my Tess, her son, his girlfriends, or relatives on the farm where she was born.
Wonderful! When I took my Aussie to a test for herding lessons, she failed. They wouldn't even take her on for paid lessons! Too much barking at the sheep.
Definately aussies, you can tell by the way they work. Border collies are more intense. Taildocking can be a necessity, as I have seen an aussies tail get caught by a bull. I think; since aussies are either born with "bobtails", halftails, or full tails, that breeders just let that be. Unless breeding working dogs.
My niece has a Blue Heeler named Lily. Should Lily have gotten her tail docked, maybe because another dog might bite it off? I haven't even see any working Blue Heelers or Aus.Cattle Dogs with docked tails, much less working GSDs and OESDs tails would've gotten terribly matted.
guys, in Germany it is forbidden since 1998 to cut a dog's tail (as is in many other european countries by now). a breed is definied in lineage/genes, not in the fact if you cut something off your dog when it was a pupp or not.
My Jack's friend- Buster-and he were about the same size and colour-bl/w. They also were both thick-coated and brown-eyed. Two diffeences: their ears and tail. Buster-no tail and flat ears, Jack-tail and upward ponted ears that often laid flat up rather than down most of the time (they went up even he was alert to something). Buster's owner even confused Buster with JackBNimble once or twice! Gypsy Rose Lee had a right blue eye and a left almond brown eye to go with her red/white coat.

People are always mistaking my Australian Shepherd for a Border Collie. If you look at pics of both online, the Border Collies have a wider face and are bigger. There are all kinds of colors of Aussies-black/white, Tri color and merle.
Border Collies don't just come in bl/w. They also come in an array of colours. So do their ears. I had: both pointed up (Bo Peep): one ear up and one pointing left (Tess); both ears up, but flat back (JackBNimble);and ½ pricked (Gypsy Rose Lee). My Aussie/BC-Gem's ears were flat down her head. Ajax, Jack's son was a tri-colour and Gypsy and Jack's pups were a reddish black. They became farm or service dogs, not just pets.
Aussies with tails! I believe the AKC asks breeders in the USA to dock their tails-to distinguish them from BCs maybe?-and tells them they're born that way to be registered for show dog competition and membership (not just because their tails are "too long"). I'm glad other countries don't lop off their beautiful tails!
I get real fukin tired of the only comments about Australian Shepherds is " so terrible to dock their tails !" I love my Aussie pup to pieces and I love the lack of dewclaws and I love his little wiggle butt. The Australian Shepherd is meant to have a four inches or shorter tail. My boy is 5 months old and can gather a flock better than these two dogs did. Running livestock when not necessary. Busting the flock all up. Little control over these dogs, and they don't show much natural herding to me.

Love seeing Aussies with their tails! I wish they didn't dock them here in the US. Ours still have their tails but they aren't registered.

Yeah, I wish my Aussies tail wasn't docked. Those look so cute with tails!!

@isidora121minime Are you thinking I wouldn't know which breed my dog is??!
@isidora121minime australian shepards have those colors as well, and the owners are calling them australian shepards.
My Aussie has a tail too.

those would be an odd colored, and very big, border collies. Definitely aussies
My Aussies don't have tails and people still think they're Border Collies.
You probably have a Borderline collie....

Bah Ram Ewe ~ European Aussies don't get their tails docked. :)

Yeah.... millions of years of evolution only for you to come along and say 'no, don't need this, I don't like it.'
You made the best comment.
