Great video! I like the fact that you did not keep zooming in on just the running gear each time the locomotive passed by. It's great to get a view the locomotive asa whole.
The shot at 5:35 at the twin bridges has a funny story. That was the first pass I think and usually I'll fan a few light shovelfulls in to give the "hollywood" smoke. The coal changed over in the bin and I got waaaay more smoke that I expected. So we got yelled at on the radio and ran clear on the next pass. Great vid, hope you can go to Elkins in July with the Heisler!
Great video John! Looks and sounds real good, and you picked a great clip of my whistle! (MDwhistles Lonergan 3-chime, heard from 7:54 to 8:09). Good meeting you up there!
THAT'S THE TYPE OF HOOTER I LIKE! It can go from low to high pitch and anything in between! Those later built locos have these weird... low... multi tone pipe organ sounding garbage.
Great vido of the shay steam engine. Thank you for posting!

The first qualification to be the engineer of one of these is: you have to be a happy whistle blower 😆
Ive never seen anyone stand on the whistles as much as Cass

I love the whistle on Shay 11
Oh, me too, I love the sound of whistle on shay 11, also on Big Six
I think that weird 5 chime on "Big Six" should be on shay 5. 6 needs her C&O 6 Chime, Reading 6 Chime, or her Southern Bootleg Hooter back
freaking LOVE that horn@
Sweet whistle
What type of engine is that ? Thanks.

sweet they repainted 1301 rand renumbered her 243. it's about time. Great Footage of 09 railfan weekend

it was a western Maryland engine, now, obviously , its a Cass engine
very nice
Great video. You sure got alot of different angles covered. Looking forward to more from you! Have you sent this to your twin ;)
Walter II
no, i meant horn...on the diesel...
It sounded like a truck horn
diesels get ignored by me as well, but this horn stuck out to me lol, i really liked it
parrots at the cass shop?
truck horn at 3:57
Why does the Shay belch so much black smoke. The engineer is on his way to black lung disease
Can the diesels please not blast there horns when the shay's blow their nicer, better sounding, not as annoying whistles please? lol
Stupid diesel piece of junk ruined it.
