This was an unrehearsed impromptu addition to the concert. Prince had just died on the day of this concert. No one in the band had ever performed that song live. Someone pointed out that Chris is actually reading the music and lyrics while he is playing. What you got there was pure improv in the moment. That is true talent. Chris also does an impromptu guest performance of James Brown's "Man's World" that is stunning. The entire band ends up having a man-crush on him.
He managed to fuse a little bit a country and blues into his version. Such talent. You do you man. I will never understand non-constructive, negative comments. If people don't like something move on. Need more positivity in this crazy world we live in.
As a white boy growing up in Utah, I had to learn about Prince on my own and at an older age. His incredible talent and worldwide influence. I've played drums, guitar and I've sung for many years now, and I can tell that nothing compares to him.
For a bit of background on the man, check out his recent guest appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast. Very cool, relatable dude. Goes pretty far down the road in explaining who, what, & how he arrived at this point and his influences.
Chris Stapleton made a living writing hits for other artist for many years. He played here and there and his wife Morgane told him that he should do it for himself. And he sure did!
I am a HUGE fan of Chris Stapleton's music along with both his vocal & musical abilities. Prince (RIP) was an amazing musical genius who's life was gone much too quickly for me. Awesome tribute to The Purple one, from one artist to another. Chris Stapleton did a tribute to The Queen of soul when she passed. As true in Chris Stapleton fashion.....he honored her with great class & dignity. IF anyway possible would you please react to it, if not just watch it, it will not disappoint you. "Do right woman, do right man" by the legendary Aretha Franklin. Keep up the great reactions, loving your channel!
GIVES ME CHILLS! ALWAYS GAVE ME THE CHILLS!!!!!!! THIS MAN GIVES ME THE CHILLS!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! PRINCE IS THE MAN. BUT CHRIS IS THE MAN TOO!!!!!!
I love your reactions, your worthwhile comments, and educated critiques. Much respect. Very enjoyable. God bless you. By the way, I saw Prince and Sheila E. in concert in Berlin, Germany in the mid-80s. I later learned that he went out to a local club that night and ended up jamming with a local band for a couple of hours to the delight of the crowd. He truly was one of the all-time greats.
I love this because it proves that well written lyrics and melody can resonate in any genre. A true talent can adapt any song to their style without making it unrecognizable.
Great song. Two great musicians (well, a whole bunch of great musicians involved, but you know what I mean). Thank you for bringing this video to my attention. Very moving.
I think Prince would have approved of this tribute. It was just a couple days after Prince passed too, when we were all still reeling from the news. This reminded me of the BB King tribute that Chris Stapleton, Gary Clark, Jr and Bonnie Raitt did at the Grammys. It probably wouldn't work for something to react to on your channel because it keeps getting taken down from this platform (I don't understand why copyright holders don't get that this is a mistake in the long run); but, you could probably google and find it on streamable (I mean, I don't know, just sayin') if you are ever in the mood to see it. Those are 3 people who can do some blues.
You do what you do, brother. That's all you owe and is the only thing you actually, can do honestly, doing something else would be you, marketing reactions. I think you're one of the few, who actually get it. Reacting, I mean. As I understand the concept, it's hook, or value, is having a person who has a basic understanding of, and passion for music, listen to a really meaningful song, and watching that person's first impression of that specific piece of music. That is a truly genuine thing, if done honestly. It's value is in exposing the reactor, to something new, and exposing the other person to the happiness that we all feel when we introduce someone to a thing we know and love, and seeing that person's honest reaction. It doesn't actually mean they'll get it, at least on our level, but real art is transferable over and across different wavelengths, and honesty is the thing of value in any reaction. Positive or negative, if It's honestly conveyed, keeps the value intact, and real. We all view the world through our own eyes, so the same experience is always colored a bit differently by each of us, which is why we should share as much as possible, right? Anyway, sorry for the novel, just had to say, shape shifting to please, an audience, is false at it's base, and the opposite of what's valuable about this relatively new medium, reaction videos. I like the way you choose to do these videos, because you seem to have a basic understanding of music and you're pretty likely to explain yourself in a way that even if I disagree, I can see your side too. Then I've grown a bit too, or I've gained access to another window I hadn't known previously. Stay on your own path, and you'll hold your integrity, even if you lose a viewer or two. Cheers bro
Just like Chris, Prince was a perfectionist. They both have also written many songs for other artists, that people have no idea were written by them. I love this performance. The harmonica player is Mickey Rafeal. He played with Willie Nelson for 45 years. Here's a link to "Tennessee Whiskey", live from Farmaid 2018, during which Chris introduces his band. He did an eight song set there. I love that he shows love to the amazing musicians behind him. ua-cam.com/video/07tL6JahREY/v-deo.html
"Sinead O'Connor who?" killed me. Don't get me wrong, she made this song iconic, and musical history is better for her having performed this song after Prince wrote it. But you're right. Stapleton sings this with soul that would make Prince proud. Not that Sinead didn't sing it with her own soul, but...she sang it in the context of a love long lost. Chris makes me feel the pain of a loss THAT DAY (which was pretty much the case). The heartbreak was FRESH when Chris performed it on this occasion. And I think that came through in the performance. Where Sinead's loss, while heartfelt, seemed in the past. Like she was still pining over it, but had accepted it, where Chris was still dealing with his loss of someone who I assume was a guitar idol of his. I won't put one over the other. As I said, there's a reason that this is the song we ALL think about when Sinead O'Connor's name turns up. It's an iconic song, and fer performance was brilliant. It's just the Chris' version had more recent pain in the performance. Now I've gotta go watch Springsteen's Purple Rain tribute again, and then Prince's own performance of that song in the pouring rain at the Super Bowl. Just to kind of balance things out.
I'm that white dude who begs people like yourself to react to the handful of white dudes that come close. Bro, I thought I was the only dude who was moved by every utterance out of Stapleton's voice in this song. Cant describe how good this is. You came close.
You gotta let the Pinheads know, If you play the video through uninterrupted it WILL get a copyright strike and you will have wasted your time. All that matters to me is that you feel the music and your comments are on the whole heartfelt and constructive. This is probably my favorite Cover of this song. Chris Cornell is awesome and does a fine job, But i'm a bluesman at heart and Chris' voice speaks more directly to me.
The way I see it I believe that is your Channel, therefore it is your right to do it anyway you see fit. I think the reason people watch certain reactions is because they like that person's reactions I think it's funny that people go onto a reaction site and try to tell them how to react that's craziness, you have a good Channel.
I also LOVE the Blues!!!And a lot of old rock, and would Love you to check out some Blue Grass...? "Run Rufus Run" Dale Ann Bradley You are interesting and do a great job!! Thanks for checking out all this Great music!!Chris Rocks!!!
Chris can do no wrong!!!! Check out You should probably go Older song that he hasn’t put on a solo CD. Perhaps a prev group he was in may have it. But it’s just him & his wife acoustic.
@@DramaSydETV Might be a Prince original, and Chris might be putting his own twist on it. But he's singing a lot more similar to the Sinead version than to the way Prince sang it. I'd argue that it's probably because a lot of people really gravitated towards the Sinead version more. I like both though. It's like the song "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails. A lot of people prefer the Johnny Cash version, I don't. But I still like both.

Awesome guy, great singer. Chris Stapleton.
Love the tributes of the greats from Chris.

Facts, thank you sir!!!
Yesssss a great musician paid tribute to a great musician!!! :)
As a white boy growing up in Utah, I had to learn about Prince on my own and at an older age. His incredible talent and worldwide influence. I've played drums, guitar and I've sung for many years now, and I can tell that nothing compares to him.
You have to see this man live! His voice is so powerful and to be standing in a room and here him is one of the best musical experiences I’ve ever had
This makes me wonder what Chris Stapleton's playlist looks like. Great tribute.
Phyllis B Heavy Freddie King when he needs inspiration when he writes, saw that in a interview. So I’ve now gotten into Freddie King. 60-70s blues 😂😂
For a bit of background on the man, check out his recent guest appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast. Very cool, relatable dude. Goes pretty far down the road in explaining who, what, & how he arrived at this point and his influences.

Great reaction ... Glad you mentioned the improv ..People dont realize he does these classic songs Improv...Pure God given talent ..
Thank you for the video. Chris Stapleton is AWESOME!! The greatest cover of nothing compares I ever heard was by Maxwell!
How real singing is supposed to make you FEEL
You see CS and Prince’s greatness. You can share and live on.

Great song. Two great musicians (well, a whole bunch of great musicians involved, but you know what I mean). Thank you for bringing this video to my attention. Very moving.

React to Chris Cornell Nothing compares to you. You are doing a great job.
I thank you and appreciate the way you do things ( your commentaries and being real ) trolls bother everyone. 💜
Love your style! Keep it comin'! So jealous that you were able to see Prince. I've been a fan since "Controversy"

I'm on it
The harmonica player is from Willie Nelson band. Been playing for fourty years
No one living today can top the late Chris Cornell’s acoustic version (him sitting on a chair playing guitar) of this song !
