- This is simply the best receiver antenna for your TBS Crossfire: the XFire pro has it all, full range, smalls size and no nulls. IBCrazy went all out on this antenna!

This looks awesome. Great to see you're still innovating like always, Alex!
Great job Alex, a few month ago you ask what we didn't like about the previous small flat antenna you offered. And you literally make the antenna that was asked for, better performance, mounting, flexible. Amazing!
I try to listen to my customers. If I can deliver what they want, I do it ;)
Been waiting for this! Thank you 🙏
Nice work IBCrazy!!!
Gonna buy like 10 of these. Love you Alex!
Heck yeah man!! Keep up the gr8 work!!
These should work well on my planes and wings! Great work!!
I've shredded so many immortal t's. What a great year for crossfire.
Yep same. Plus they weigh too much I think.
Just keep this one free of your props. It is flexible, but not indestructible when it comes to swnging blades of fury.
What? Is this even real? Marvellous!
Is this xfire pro not working with crossfire mode 1 aka 150hz? Why lq aleays at mode 2?
I wonder if this antenna is better suited for a quad than a plane. I bought one for my plane by mistake while having already an immortal T. I'm doing long range missions and I was thinking the nulls on the T would also mean more range than the XFire pro when oriented correctly. Am I right?
Sounds great. I'm always worried about direction when I fly over water, which I do more or less all the time.
Always a pucker factor over water.
@@CAGreve1231 :) another - 6dB in the signal budget...
Siiiick!
Looks awesome Alex just ordered some sounds great ...so do I have to still run my tx antenna horizontal if I mount the xfire horizontal
Yes... well... you don't have to, but it is better if you do.
@@CAGreve1231 thanks
Yessss!
Side note: was that a Vendetta???
Yes indeed it was. Just showing how to mount on an unusual frame.
Hmm would be nice to have it one for UHF band.
DAMN!!! I need to get a few of these. Are they listed for sale yet?
Link in the video description. They are out. We have them in stock. PrioFlip should have them on Wednesday. We gopt a bunch of European orders, too but I can't remember who they were.
How about Mini RX Antenna version?
and how should I mount that mini rx antenna on the quad ?
This is different form the MiniRX. The Mini RX should be vertical where possible (as is the case with this). However, this one is much more resilient to geometry. That is why the mini RX only has one mounting hole at the bottom.
Take my money!
Just went to order some with the Fatshark Diversity setup and they are already sold out. Have any idea when they will be back in stock? Either of the 915mhz, I'm not picky.
Soon. Piroflip ordered a bunch of them so they should be in stock there very soon. We should be able to get stock by the middle of next week. We have the parts for them. They just take time to build.
@@CAGreve1231 just send me the parts, we'll do this as a DIY! But on a serious note, I'll keep an eye out on Pyrodrone. Did they order the rigid and/or flex? That is if you are willing to give that information.
Nice! Do you make a mad mushroom extended version? I would like to get one that sticks up above my head from my rapidfire.
I'd buy one of those for sure!
We will soon. it will be co-branded with Ethix.
@@Mikebfpv Yeah, I loved my Madmushoom, but it's like 3 or 4 years old, and has seen better days, and now I've switched to one that's above my head, and I do see a difference. I know a Madmushroom this way would probably benefit as well.
@@CAGreve1231 Awesome, thanks! That is my favorite to use in my googles normally. It works with such a wide variety of antenna combinations.
@@CAGreve1231 omg man! I can't love this enough. I'm going to need that link before they sell out man!
Excellent work Alex. When will they be available?
Now ;)
@@CAGreve1231 SOLD OUT!! ...... :(
@@stealthwingsrc1094 - Give me a day or two. We have lots of parts to make more ;)
@@CAGreve1231 thanks man.
It seems this would be unaffected by cross polarization loss in the plane of the antenna but still suffer from cross polarization when the tx antenna is normal to the plane of xfire pro mini?
How does this compare to a coil loaded dipole with the center coax left at full length and ground completely coiled?
Thanks for your continued development in fpv!!!
This is an excellent point. Cross polarized in two planes and not 3. You still should orient your TX and RX antenna in the same orientation. However, horizontal mounting incurs cross polarization loss with a standard dipole but not with the XFire Pro.
@@CAGreve1231 Would it be possible to take this idea into the third dimension to both shorten the size further and decrease cross-polarization penalty in all three directions?!
Hey Alex, can we install this in the transmitter? Would love something of the style and size of the 2.4GHz diamond installed in my full size crossfire module.
You can do that, no problem. You just need to swap out the cable or connector to fit your radio.
@@CAGreve1231 cool! I'm gonna go for it. Thank you!
I'm very close to buying this but I'm confused about my current setup. Right now my crossfire antenna is at the back above the arms like this cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0010/7410/2324/files/IMG_7501_2048x2048.jpg with the battery underneath.
How bad is my current setup when pushing range? Does it matter that it will be occluded in the middle when flying towards myself? I know horizontal orientation is bad too so if I were to buy this new antenna where would I mount it? On the fin is right next to the DJI antennas is that bad? Behind where the current immortal is will be even more occluded as it's shorter.
For range, your setup is dangerously close to disaster. If you are staying within 3km, that set up is ok. You really need your antennas to be mounted vertically (both TX and RX) for best performance. However, since the XFire is dual polarized, you can lay it flat so long as your TX antenna is flat as well.
@@CAGreve1231 Yep I get telemetry warnings at less than 1km. Agreed I want it vertically. I have the single antenna nano module. I still can't visualise where the antenna could be placed unobtructed except stuck high up and out on a pole away from the frame. I can only see it near the frame if I had two and a diversity module to cover the blind spots. I assume 868Mhz can't penetrate the carbon. Where would you mount it vertically then?
Looking at the radiation pattern, while it may not show a null am I correct in seeing that it is down approx 6db on the ends of the axis?
DividingByZero FPV - Yes. Closer to 8db per my measurements.
@@CAGreve1231 thanks. Seems like diversity RX with opposing axis for orientation would still be very wise then. No null but still down enough db that I would want overlapping orientations.
Perfect now I can run my 3"/4" models without fighting the mounting options, and they look like a grate option for my 7"LR that's getting a diversity receiver soon! Thanks as always VAS "iBcrazy" for keeping my flying.
🥃cheers🍻
Sorry it took me so long. I was pounding my head against a desk for days trying to get something like this designed and then the idea of how to combine a closed loop antenna with a stepladder fractal hit me and it went smoothly from there.
Awesome moments of inspiration come fom the strangest places, mother of invention say hi to father of innovation...
ordering...
How is range compared to an immortal t? What is the "cost" of having no nulls? These seem AMAZING!
It actually has higher gain and there fore slightly longer range. This has ~14% longer range than the immortal T. The "cost" was many hours of design time ;)
@@CAGreve1231 Then I can't wait until they come back in stock lol
@@CAGreve1231 How is that possible? :o
@@goku445 - Better design, that's all.
@@highervoltage5430 I was thinking you needed some "nulls" or lows to have more gain but antennas are like chinese to me...
What kinda range can I expect from this antenna?
That is a very difficult question to answer without more information such as: What TX antenna are you using? What power setting are you using? What is your RF environment like?
In general, this is solid for 20km. However, if using a TX antenna like a Shapeshifter, you are going to be closer to 90km on Crossfire.
Which parts need to be separated from carbon? Still just the ends?
I am sorry I am getting to this so late. The back side of the antenna has no active element and thus you can mount the rear to the carbon. I do not recommend letting the main part of the antenna touch the carbon if you can avoid it.
@@CAGreve1231 so just for clarity, the side with the solder connections should be separated from the carbon?
@@wink1814 the side with the visible traces should be separated from the carbon.
Why offer both ‘rigidities’? Is there a performance downside to the ultra flex?
Price. The Ultraflex costs us more to manufacture. Flexible PCBs aren't cheap!
Video Aerial Systems I didn’t even notice there was a price difference! Duh
The video I seen with a pro... they were never in mode 1... it only stayed 199 and below... 🤔 I dont see how thats any better!
How dose the performance compare to the other pcb crsf antenna you made i noticed it even has more gain?
This is actually better. The mini RX is embedded inside this antenna. I basically built more tech on top of the mini for this one.
@@CAGreve1231 and what is the ideal way of mounting these when using a crossfire diversity rx?
@@samuwhatever6783 - one vertical and one horizontal. Just the way I have in the video ;)
@@CAGreve1231 ok thanks for the info, i for sure gonna buy some of these :)
@@CAGreve1231 - i have diversity RX , is posible mount both horizontal ? (one 0° and one 90°) for long range (I would like to use under wings) TX is same polarization horizontal (diamond).
Can I go as far as with the immortal T? Thanks
Yes. Same range as the Immortal T
Will this work for r9m ?
It will but the connector needs to be changed. R9 uses different connectors and changes them for different receivers. It causes a great deal of confusuion for everyone.
Any reason why it shouldnt be used on the TX side as well?
You would need to change the connector, but it would work fine as a TX antenna up to 4 Watts.
I have the nano diversity, can I run TWO ?
Of course!
how much gain do you lose comparing it to a stock dipole?
You gain 0.7db. No loss at all. This is quite literally the best antenna you can have. I am really proud of this one (if that wasn't obvious).
@@CAGreve1231thnx, you should be proud 👍
Can you just tape this down flat to a wing on a fixed wing plane and have it work as good as horizontal? Would be great to get rid of all the antenna's sticking out of the plane.
Yes. That works well for low altitude, actually
@@CAGreve1231 What about for long range?
@@sams9716 - It is better to orient vertically for anything over 20km.
sold out already
Just take my money
Will this work with r9m
Only slim/slim+
Will there be any way of fitting this on my R9mm?
Yes if you have a cable. R9 uses different connectors and has been a source of confusion for everyone. THus, I market this for Crossfire because TBS has maintained similar connectors which aren't confusing.
@@CAGreve1231 Do you mean i have to change out the cable that is connected to the antenna or have an adapter to the ulf?
Thomas Stange you’ll need adaptor
@@MrTeeseeone - I think the XSlim for R9 uses the u.fl connector and if that is the case then this would work well. Otherwise you need to change out the connector or the whole cable on the antenna.
Ever since you uploaded this video I checked your website every single day for that antenna to be in stock. Now it is, but I cannot buy two of them. Why not shipping to Europe?🤬🤬🤬
TBS has them!
@@CAGreve1231 Thx. Hopefully I will get them soon.
Finally.. some solder pads at the back for us Frsky R9 users!!!! Unfortunately its out of stock.. crap..
Out of stock already? Futz... I need to get back to work and crank out more of these.
@@CAGreve1231 Please!
It looks like it will act like a rudder when zip tied down 👎 hmmmmm I dont know
So added stability is a bad thing?
@@CAGreve1231 I dont know , I think with the reception you are always on point 😁👍🏻 but just think it will move around to much & cause a fault in the cable where the Cable tie meets causing it to flutter in the wind . I could be wrong not sure , but keep the great work 😁👌 your doing a great job in all areas
