Great video, Tom! One note so far. At 50:24, you say that the costs on the cards are associated with the eras of the game. Actually, they’re associated with the row (I.e., stage) you place the card on.
Bought Civolution after watching this a couple of times, what an epic game! Think it's my new favourite. So many options that I never wanted the game to end, gave me that 4x feeling but without any fighting which makes it nice and relaxing whilst still having a fantastic efficiency puzzle.
I think i can see why its getting a higher complexity rating. Often many rules heavy games are complicated with a lot of interdependencies, requiring some thinking (AP?) to plan accordingly. But often, at any point in time the number of choices you have is generally few and its not that hard to prune down to a preferred option. In this case, you often have many many choices of what you can do and while all of those actions are straight forward, the number of choices makes it hard to figure out what might be best to do. So perhaps this is a case unlike heavy games with a narrow decision space, where you have a medium complexity ruleset, with a very wide decision space. In the end you have a game which is operationally complex due to the huge number of combinations you have planning just 2 turns into the future. And...I CANT WAIT to get my hands on it. Lets hope for a quick resolution to the production issues, and its rapid deployment to the my side of the Atlantic.
Great video, keep in mind that you could stack your goal chips differently. You don't have to complete 1 stage but instead stack single goal chips on top of each other. In your case it would have made sense to put only one goal chip in stage 3 in order to reach stage 5. In general, I advise not to place goal chips into stage 1 since they are worth so few points there and also block a cheap slot for a card. Situationally it can be good to unlock the income tile earlier.
1:00:10 You only spent 1 Idea to convert two 5s into two 6s, is that right, or should you have performed a Sleep first so that you had the Ideas that you needed for the Vision? If I'm right, you carried an Idea forward that you shouldn't have had.

Thanks Larry! Yes I should have said stages instead of eras 😀

Was there a problem with light? I see all in scary grey colours. Thanks for solo playthough.
It’s thematic, we’re in a computer simulation exam, but yeah I could go for a little bit more colour 🙂
Hey Tom, what do you think about the game so far? It's quite a different beast, isn't it?

I spent 2, I just put one of the markers straight into the feature
