Not really... the movements are easy and specific according to the conditions. After some games, you start to count points automatically and be more careful with the decisions you make!

Can't believe I haven't come across this channel before. Just got the game and feel like I could teach it 90% having just watched this the once. Your use of animation/graphics and examples at the end is something any rules-teacher on YT should aspire to. Many thanks for the video!
He doesn’t seem to like any auctioning or negotiation games. We’ve tried Ra, QE and Zoo Vadis, he’s not a fan of them. My guess is he likes to math everything out and those games have too many “random” variables due to the high player interaction. 🤷 I’m glad you had a good time with it though.
I agree! I find BitewingGames' rules explanation is on par with Rodney's Watch it Played. I appreciate that the videos are compact and the rules teach totally digestible.

@ 😂 Qrank was already in use so I had to add THE 😋 I just discovered your channel and was listening to your Top 50. You nominated so many cool games other than just 50 Euros or the common Top 50 titles. It was really refreshing 👍🏼
@@TheQrank glad it was helpful. Those “best games” were from my work partner, Nick. I may eventually make mine too. But it is nice that he enjoys things other than heavy euros.
Great video! You made it very easy to understand, I feel totally confident to play now. I just got this game and I'm very excited to play it with friends. Loved the costume and dramatic invoking of RA, I definitely plan to do it that way...probably not in costume though😁
tried following these beautifully shot, well structured, and clearly delivered instructions, but was too distracted by the changing games in the background - attempted playing ra and ended up in the hospital. thanks for nothing kyle.
This seems like a great re-release with wonderful artwork and player aids. One question: the monuments look scuffed. How many plays before tiles look worn? It probably doesn't impact the game, but just wondering if I should get the deluxe version instead. Although I wonder if that would be worse. Or maybe it's just a hazard of randomized components in a bag games...
This is a prototype not the final version. I’m not sure how similar it is to the final edition - and it was also shipped to multiple people. But you’re right, when the tiles are put in the bag and grabbed so much there will certainly be some wear.
i was so confused at 1:39 why you said "ra tiles can be discarded but move the sun boat forward". For anyone watching Ra tiles MUST be always be discarded when drawn and move the boat forward one
You are correct, they must be discarded. I have a tendency to not always be accurate/precise in my wording, and when teaching board games I need to make sure I am being accurate. Thanks for bringing that to my attention! 🙂
I'd love that edition, but I'm too poor for it. Got to feel awesome to reach into the sack to pull out those chunky tiles. The new edition is beyond great, even the cardboard version.
Great explanation! Regarding disaster tiles, do you resolve them first and then place the rest of the tiles that you won? Wondering if they can effectively cancel out tiles in the auction if you don’t have the type affected already on your board. Thanks!
Auctions can start in 3 ways. 1 - when a Ra tile is drawn, as shown in the example at 10:00. 2 - when the auction track is full, no Ra tile needs to be drawn. 3 - When a player decides. They don't need to have a Ra tile, they just take the Ra statue and an auction starts. The Sun Boat will only move when a Ra tile is drawn, scenario 1. Does that answer your question?
Great question. Tiles are never put back in the bag. The rulebook shows how many of each tile there are so you could always know the probability of pulling a certain tile.
The end of the round is ambiguous. If the boat reaches end of the board (ie on top of the timer) which ends any auction why bother playing the last round?
You'll keep playing the last round because players can still invoke Ra at any point. Often there is a push your luck element to the end of a round. If you and another player each have 1 or 2 sun tokens left to auction, do you invoke Ra with fewer tokens on the auction track, or do you keep drawing tiles hoping to earn more tiles?!?
The hard part isn't playing the game but rather putting it into the box and have the lid close completely. I am talking about the deluxe kickstarter version, shown here.
Your 3 action choices are 1 - draw a tile, 2 - start an auction, 3 - discard a god tile to take any 1 tile from the auction track. So Nick took the third action choice. God tiles are worth 2 points at the end of the round if you still have them. But a big strategy can be discarding your god tiles to take any tile from the auction track, which can score you big points.
@@BitewingGames thank you! I am hoping to play my first game this week! Haven’t read the rules yet, only watched your video and I feel confident in playing already! Thank you!
The examples at the end were a huge help to make the concepts all make sense. Thanks!
Having to make so many costume changes mid-game might seem like a headache, but it's worth it for the true Ra experience.
No one ever said it would be easy - but totally worth it.

Unexpected authenticity at @2:00 😮
Hey,
Quick question if everyone has all their sun tokens flipped that also indicates the end of the round, correct?
Correct. I realized after I published that I didn’t really address that.
At the beginning, the tile that read 1 is already on the board. Was that a player bid? Doed that designate its turn #1?
During setup you’ll place the 1 value token on the board. See 0:57of the video
thank you so much! I gonna bring it to tomorrow's boardgame meeting. :D
Nice. Hope you have a great time playing it.
Great explanation! Regarding disaster tiles, do you resolve them first and then place the rest of the tiles that you won? Wondering if they can effectively cancel out tiles in the auction if you don’t have the type affected already on your board. Thanks!
Disaster tiles are the last tiles "placed" in the auction. So any tiles you win in that auction are also eligible to be destroyed.
Makes sense, thanks!
When you discard a god tile & take a tile in the middle of the auction row, does the created hole get filled in or does it remain empty?
Great question. It gets filled in.
Question at about 10 min mark. If you have to play a Ra tile when it comes out of the bag, how do you get one to flip and start an auction?
Auctions can start in 3 ways. 1 - when a Ra tile is drawn, as shown in the example at 10:00. 2 - when the auction track is full, no Ra tile needs to be drawn. 3 - When a player decides. They don't need to have a Ra tile, they just take the Ra statue and an auction starts. The Sun Boat will only move when a Ra tile is drawn, scenario 1. Does that answer your question?
Between rounds do you refill the bag to draw from or does it get more empty as the game progresses?
Great question. Tiles are never put back in the bag. The rulebook shows how many of each tile there are so you could always know the probability of pulling a certain tile.
The end of the round is ambiguous. If the boat reaches end of the board (ie on top of the timer) which ends any auction why bother playing the last round?

Classic Cami making a move like that…haha. I didn’t notice my mistake till I was editing, and it was way too much work to go back and fix.

Just when you thought the game was over you get to begin a game of Tetris.
Looks Like fun. Thanks for a great tutorial.
Clarification at 9:51 please? Why is Nick allowed to discard a god tile for a civilization tile?
Your 3 action choices are 1 - draw a tile, 2 - start an auction, 3 - discard a god tile to take any 1 tile from the auction track.
So Nick took the third action choice. God tiles are worth 2 points at the end of the round if you still have them. But a big strategy can be discarding your god tiles to take any tile from the auction track, which can score you big points.
