😄Actually many of the pioneers have already retired.. the hawker scene scene started in the 70s.. and many of them are in their 70s. it's lucky thst I'm still able to capture a handful of them. Oldest is 95

For some reason.. stomach didn't function well whole of last week. So was a little put back by the thought of eating. Thanks buddy.. enjoy your weekend 🌴
If have upset stomach/undigested food/cleansing/reduce heat, drink glass of Schweppes Indian tonic water or on empty belly before breakfast (1 hr before or after food), drink (with straw and rinse mouth after cos bicarbonate of soda makes teeth sensitive/erodes enamel) a mixture of half a level teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda (those used in baking) in glass of water. Could be over long periods of rich, spicy, deep fried foods, avoid alcohol, have alkaline (yin) foods. Great to see Ur videos PPuggy but good to have a rest from time to time. Have a great weekend. We're having lovely sunny days (still occasional light frost overnight), plums/greengages the size of small grapes on trees, birds nesting, lovely bird chorus in mornings. PEACE and blessings to ALL humanity.

The porridge superb, the wanton noodles scrumptious, the duck stall is always crowded. There's a horfun stall Fabulous. The xiaolongbao at the coffee shop is good

Finally a video at Clementi! Stayed at Clementi for almost 13 years, I would say definitely the good places not to miss here are the black carrot cake (dapao for better shiokness) , the porridge and the Song fish soup. Really good stuff!
Used to live in Bukit Timah for a few years. Would frequent this place whenever I’m buying tropical fish in Clementi. Good to be back. Would love to visit again for a proper sit down and enjoy all those food 😂

Wow wow wow... I love this type of porridge. I'm an eastie so usually go to the fengshan market at bedok to eat Chai Chee porridge, used to have long wait but nowadays like less popular. This one at Clementi looks great! Maybe worth the trip to venture further someday.

Actually thought of having lunch here today but change of plans so thanks for the video 😅 …. Porridge stall & chai tow kway are the Clementi FC mainstays. There are also other gems here - the Tze char a few stalls down from carrot cake stall, chicken rice, roasted meats, yong tau foo (morning), char kway teow (beside chicken rice stall with long quene) …. Satay stall (afternoon onwards) is the other main pillar of this FC

Used to work at Clementi Mall. The hawker centre's stall with the old auntie selling the curry chicken/sesame oil chicken with rice is my go to, inner side got one beef horfun stall also not bad. Tom yum bee hoon option for the Siong fish soup store.
The roasted meat stall Lau Phua Chay that your camera did a pan over towards the end also had a pretty solid pork rib rice, pretty well marinated and makes for a good meal
Ya miss the China ramen place since they were pretty solid. Usually will just stick to my chicken chop ramen dry (but w/o black fungus since they are not my type)

What is this? Rice porridge? The meat that they're putting in it does not look like it's getting cooked long enough.
Yeah.. congee.. usually they are cooked just right which should be how it is. So it remains soft and moist without drying out. But understand that this may not be all normal if you’re from abroad. The locals are used to even seeing some reddish haemoglobin left from the liver if you stir it up immediately. But after leaving the liver under.. it usually cooks to perfection. Coz it’s easy to over cook the meats leaving it hard and rubbery. 😅

Newspaper says chwee kueh seller claims chai por increased price so chwee kueh must increase 10c each or else she said she will die! Hahaha... but I hate the way they just slapped a bunch of chai por and spread it like peanut butter instead of putting some on each chwee kueh individually like the good old days. So oafish,
I find food these days just doesn’t come close to what they used to be.. everybody is trying to keep the price Low by cutting cost on the ingredients. Sometimes I’m wondering if I’m just being picky.. or imagining that things don’t taste as good anymore

Cai tao kuay used to be like the only hawker item that cost less than $3... There's no cheap eats in Singapore nowadays
Food in this video generally looks good! But the Bedok Chwee Kueh standard has dropped a lot. It tastes like they have cut corners with the flour, it's so flimsy now that it's impossible to get it out of the plate with the fork. I mean I can understand raising prices or cutting the serving but to do all that and scrimp on quality is really low of them
Prob factory mass production.. alot of food in Singapore is not what is used to be anymore. Everything else is too expensive thereby pushing up the cost of hawker fare

The oil of the carrot cake is very, very greasy. I always feel uncomfortable after eating it. Unfortunately there's no competition there.

How to improve SG garbage problems and even they aren't recycle.
I see some improvement laa.. some places are already using paper cups. But they are more ex and will charge you 20cent more for it. So this doesn’t come reasonable for those who wants not to pay extra for takeaway cups. The other annoying thing is that now the Kopi pengs are also given the same small paper cups for takeaway. Perhaps.. SG Govt can step in to subsidise for a period of time.. stating that plastics not allowed after a certain time..
But in the end.. it’s a social problem..
Not everybody can afford or wants to pay 20cents more every time they need a Kopi to go

I don't think govt will subsidies. On the other hand, govt should make recycling more assessible and more proactive in colleting those plastic trash and recycle them. That can help in ways to fulfill SG GREENPLAN.
but as I have said. I don't think SG govt are proactivity doing it.... Which is very sad. And seems like govt is double standard on this front.

Please 🙏 report to NEA about touting by an almost bald-headed guy walking around shouting kopi siew tai! Every 5 minutes, he walks around shouting & screaming kopi siew tai! NEA forbids & prohibits touting by licensed hawkers as this will cause unhappiness & fights between these uneducated rascals! TQ
The porridge is served in a smaller bowl now and price have gone up.... 🙄
I checked out those online whyq price.. it's goin for $6.70 😴😴😴 for the $3.50 bowl
