Love this idea! Some of the albums that helped me (someone who had basically only listened to metal) get into hip-hop: -Run the Jewels (self-titled) - tight, very "heavy" and bassy production and super catchy hooks -Death Grips - Ex Military - basically a hardcore punk album with rapping and samples. High energy, easy to bang your head to, chaotic vocal delivery. Tons of recognizable samples from across music. -RatKing - So it goes - incredible alternative hip-hop record with punchy production -Outkast - Stankonia - Outkast rules, that is all!
I would also direct Metalheads' directions towards the current wave of underground artists. I think their music would be to the liking of Metalheads. They have some soul samples in there but for the most part, they tap into that metal realm quite a bit. My favorite right now is the Umbrella Collective. Super raw music, authentic and not at all sugarcoated.
That Tone Loc album is so hard to find. Public Enemy has always been a favorite group They made such powerful music that still excites me to this day. Some great essential rap music
Good list! All classics, mostly fairly obvious stuff, but good music is good music I like how the list is chronological, but also works as a gradual introduction to rap, starting with classic rock influences, and progressing to proper hip-hop I'd add something like three-6 mafia, but don't know if they're even available on vinyl at all
I'm a metal head, my favorite bands are Born of Orsis and Opeth. Currently listening to orchid, but I have a soft spot for hip hop. My favorite rappers and bands are Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, NWA, and Eazy E.
You're absolutely right, spot on ^^
Cheers! I'm gonna add a couple; Fantastic damage by El-P and Arrhythmia by Antipop consortium. Great stuff!

I like all those Rap Artists. I probably would have shown Ice Cube "Wicked" too but I don't have that on vinyl.
