Hi everyone. I want to talk real quick about the "Russian-ness" of this episode. A few weeks ago I posted about this in our Patreon but I think it's important so I'll mention it here too (and it'll be a lot of the Myth's Matters episode): When I stumbled upon the Nart myths I thought they were really important to cover because they were suppressed by the Soviet government and with the on going conflicts in the Caucuses are a cultural heritage that is endangered. I asked the Patrons if they would mind if I used one of the Russian episodes that they voted on to tell these stories because with the platform we have we need to push against that sort of suppression. Unfortunately Patreon only allows us 20 categories for myths and we don't have a North Caucus one, so the way the title got pulled it was listed as "Russian". I'm sorry for that. It's a problem that we have that I have to think through with our system for most indigenous culture that were later supplanted or marginalized. For right now I'm going to see if someone on the team can edit it, but again apologies, all I can say is that I hope it caused a few people who would otherwise never have heard these tales because of state suppression stumble on them in the meantime. -JP

To be fair, the girls were theives and her injuries were just in defense of property and even so, he still saved her life based on a misunderstanding from both sides. I guess it would have been better if she had died then huh. Considering he owed her nothing.
Yep its like if a cop shot a thief running away and then followed her blood trail, found her injured and instead of bringing her in took pity on her and nursed her back to health and married her afterwards.

@@melchid8448 It's something along "[surprised that] Someone really remembers this ethnos. It's an Ubykh legend to be precise. There was such nation once on a Black sea coast"
@@therealchen Narts are circassian
@@therealchen Excuse me but, its more Circrassian because only Circassians have this story, and other Nart Sagas are not resemble because Vainakh people have only little stories, frequently Narts in their stories fights against them.
That's about Vainakhs, now about Karachai-Balkar witch are Turkic nations who have their own Turkic culture and all what other Turks have, but only K-B tries to say that its only they have Nart Sagas that is silly.
And i can only not argue with Ossetians who have whole entire stories like Circassians
@@therealchen Arguments maybe?
@@therealchen Did you know caucasian origin is doesn't exist, all caucasians have different origins and language families Adygho-Abhaz, Kartvelian, Nakh-Dagestanian, only they have caucasian origin and they are not even close. We also have other nations wich are not caucasian like Turkic, Iranian.
The detail in animation this ep was on point
I feel like birds will be a common theme in Caucasian Mythology. Because mountains.
"And that kids, is the story of how I met your mother."
4:43 all the budget saw spent on the shark
Baba Yaga please!
This was a great episode!!!
I heard about a similar story about a golden tree as well. But instead of apples, it flew out 7 types of drinks and was silver. I don't really know much about it... I think it is an Mongolian legend called the karakorum silver tree
A shark rocking on a guitar,...SHARK WEEK and SHARK MONTH HYPE!
Swear to God greatest thing I've ever seen was the metal shark then panning out to you holding the toy still can't stop laughing
Ancient times everything has less convenience than in the present. But all Cool adventures and quest has tons of wonderful surprises, unlike now tons of mundane problems to think.
We need more Nart myths in our lives
We have a similar story here in Bulgaria
It's WAY too long to type out so just search "The three brothers and the Golden apple"
Could you please make an episode on that
I’m loving the animations
Fruit of might
Devil fruit
Literally half anime/manga itself.
So the Nart Saga isn't Russian. Its Circassian. Part of Circassia IS in Russia, but we're not the same people. PLEASE edit this. Lumping us together with the group that tried to ethnically cleanse us in the 1860's is a bit offensive.
I never heard this myth before it was quite a tale
That left me with even more questions. What were the sea people eating before they started stealing apples? And why that tree in particular? Also are they going to stop stealing them now or have they reached some agreement?
7:00 that awkward moment when the animator doesn’t know what a crab apple looks like
I loved the animation at 6:00
I love the shark playing a guitar part
i’m so very behind... but to all responsible for the metal shark... toy go ALL of the kudos, cause i really needed that just now
This channel is the best

Ok, I ain't gonna lie.
I'm liking how grumpy she is.
4:40 Myths... are... METAL!
Holy shit, this is so awesome
Also why didn't the sisters recognize the younger brother?
