Never say 'never'. It has been my dream car for 40 years. It hasn't mattered to me what amazing cars have appeared since then, it has always been an SM for me. And now I have one, fitted with a Merak SS engine. If you live anywhere near Co. Durham, England, come and see me, and have a drive!
Car is 50 years old yet the interior STILL looks modern and cool! Gotta love that throaty V6 growl too.... who needs a stereo with THAT soundtrack? Modern cars just don't have this much character!

Even at 80MPH, the SM is only turning 3K RPMs putting you right in the meat of the power band. But, yes, a 6 speed would make a perfect car even more perfect!
Citroen should of changed the steering rack gearing to make it less sensitive. I know people say you get used to it. You shouldn't have to. Probably lost alot of sales because of that. Scared alot of people off.
It didn’t take me any time to get used to it. Rather, it was a revelation and immediately everything else seemed crude in comparison. It’s when Citroen dumbed everything down for focus groups that there was no point to them any more.
@@famousutopias I spent 2 days driving mine back to the UK from Sweden. After I got it home it went straight into storage and I got my 2002 Mercedes CLK 320 out. It felt 'dead' compared to the SM. It may take a little while to get used to the SM, but believe me, it is worth it.
Citroen went bankrupt because of this car and the upcoming CX. Then it was taken over by Peugeot and went downhill since then. The C6 from 2002 still had an elegant look and kept the hydraulic suspension until 2017. I don't care about other models, including the gimmicky "DS" rebrand.

What a beautiful dash…. Still looks somewhat modern
Incredible to think that the entire car - dash design and all - was conceived more than 50 years ago!

Time you stated for an electric🔋is way too much. They're not meant to last ICE, if at all with much maintenance in the long run.
