Yaassss this has been my jam since the 80’s ! They don’t make good songs like this anymore 😞 I just know you would love Simply Red.
This is my jam too! LOVE IT!
Yes!!! We know our age bracket! 😂
@@aprilallison6440 one of my favorites
@@derrickmcdade8281 one of mine as well.
Mine too I have such a beautiful memory of this song since 1987 met a nice guy in a foreign country when we linked up we always played this song I can never listen to this song and not think of him 😊
That song had me crying when I first heard it at 12 years old...lol. I knew way back then it would be a TIMELESS cut for me.
80's music is such a change from music of today
I agree.... So eclectic. So thankful to have been growing up through the 70's and 80's
Facts
This was and still is one of my top two '80s songs growing up (The other is Level 42's Something About You). A killer keyboard melody, and singer Mic Murphy's vocals are smooth as silk. This was a fantastic summer hits in July 1987 (#1 R&B) that didn't get enough airplay on my local radio stations at the time. This tune also tends to get forgotten in not just 80's music circles, but even in some '80s R&B circles, so I am Overjoyed whenever I hear it in public, whether online or on the radio
Thanx 4 the info. I only know these guys from ?Say Yeah" That was very good disco from the mid 80s.
In my country you had a legendary long time radio show called The SoulShow, hosted by Ferry Maat. I am sure he must have played this on his show. The show went t a different station back i 1987 so I couldnt listen to it anymore. The replacement show was more House orientated so I stopped listening.
This and the Level 42 are two my favorites also!!!
Both are my favorites
Me too. These 2 are on repeat, but ill add tears for fears "head over heels"
YES! This song and "Something About You" are two of my favorite songs from the 80s and this song really never got its due. If you have any other recommendations or songs you loved from the 80s, post them!
This was a duo. A singer and another with a synthesizer
Mic (the singer) also plays guitar. Frank is on keyboards.
This is from 1987. I love this song even more now than I did back then! such a classic
My parents got married the same year that song came out. Still a dope song to this day. R.I.P. Ma
This was The System's only r&b crossover hit!!! The song went all the way to #1 on Billboard Black Single chart and peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the early summer of 1987. I love this song alot!!!
GIRL! This was the jam. Takes me back to college.
Me too
Same for me Robin. I would have hit the dance floor with you!
facts 💯
Just 2 guys making these beautiful sounds. Still going today.
The brotha's name is Mic Murphy. One of the most underrated guitarists ever.
I appreciate you listening to the whole song before you critique it. Thank you.
YES I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!💖💖💖
I was in high school when this came out. It made you feel like you were in Love with your crush. You listen to this outside on the spring with a light breeze. It has that feel to it.
The Music Video is a Classic!!!! Give U much detail how cool the duo was .. Lead Singer Black & other white!!! All Time Favorite!!!! Use to get goosebumps watching the music video!!! 80's Classic!!!!!
“You Are In My System” is another one you should check out. Might be their best tune
Robert Palmer (the Addicted to Love guy) did a cover of it that was basically a carbon copy LOL
This song is their best tune.
I go back and forth between this and that track. Depends on my mood. But, they are easily my two favorite tracks from them.
'You're In My System' is their biggest hit in my opinion from the 1983 album 'Sweat'
No bro, respectfully, it's got to be this by far. It was their first and biggest hit.
That's a great song but this their #1 jam tho
The 80's were the BEST!
Classic those songs will play forever and ever and ever and always to the end of TIME ❤️👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👌🏾🤘🏾🤟🏾💯😁👑🏆🏆
This takes me back to 1986, love it!!
This songs brings so much memories from my childhood in the 80's, maybe because it was played on the radio a lot, when I was in school.
It’s amazing the number of young people today that aren’t familiar with all this great 1970s and 1980s music. 😊😊The lyrics of this song are truly deep if you really listen to them.
this is my ultimate summertime song. i can see the ocean in my mind's eye whenever i hear this.
if you like this song, they have another just like it on their follow-up 1989 "Rhythm and Romance" album called "Soul II Soul".
This has been one of my favorite songs since the summer of 1987. Actually listened to it earlier today. So happy to see you enjoyed it too.
Song never gets old. I was in the11th grade delivering pizzas in National City California when this song came out.
love love love the 80's music..so versatile. R@B..soft rock..love songs..concerts that filled the stadiums...was one of the best decades in music history..glad I was there to experience it..there will never be another..
They are an awesome group, you should check out other tracks of theirs, similar tempo to this one. Excellent for driving on the highway
The system - Guardian Angel
The system - This is for you
The system - Have mercy
One of my favorite bands. Saw them in concert in the 80s and they did not disappoint. Met Mic Murphy afterwards and talked to him for a good 20 minutes. He was a sweetheart and even gave me his address where he lived in NYC. THAT IS A WHOLE NOTHER STORY. (I am a female, freddy is just a name I use online). If you read the autobiography written by RICK JAMES, he even talks about this being his favorite song when it came out! This was the jam back in the day... It was played every 10 minutes on the radio!
Yes!!! This song reminds me of when the last time you said let's turn off the phone.
This whole album is killer
The system also song coming to American from the movie

Masters of song creation. They meshed together so very well. I wish they’d do more stuff these days!!!
How is this your 1st time hearing this 😮 I've been listening to this song almost everyday since it came out. And just to think this whole album was done on a keyboard, they changed music to what it is now they revolutionized the sound of music forever.
